My brother lived, and died, in La Jolla and I found myself trying to find out what to do from the UK. I was recommended Balboa Cremations by the hospital’s department of decedent affairs and I am so glad I acted on that. Jennifer has been absolutely wonderful in helping me through the whole process and made it a lot easier than I feared. Because my brother had family and friends in 2 countries we decided to have his ashes put into 2 containers so that I could bring one back to England. It was really straightforward and Jennifer was happy to facilitate this. I can unreservedly recommend Balboa Cremations for their compassion and efficiency at such a difficult time.

Balboa was compassionate and caring during our time of need. They were professionals at every interaction and helped make a difficult time easier. They did not selling up and I never felt like they were taking advantage of an emotional time for our family. Randy Bellamy and his team are truly a gift to families who need these services.

Balboa was extremely caring and compassionate when my sister was killed. I'm from TN and they went above and beyond working with me picking her up and generously stayed over three hours for my delayed flights. Randy and Jennifer were so loving and understanding. It was such a blessing through a very hard time. Thank y'all SO much!

Randy, Jennifer and the other staff were very kind, compassionate and extremely helpful. We just wanted direct cremation for my mother and several copies of her death certificate. Balboa took care of everything and answered and returned calls very promptly. They did not try to up-sell me on anything which I appreciated. Balboa did all of this for a very reasonable price.

The Owner, Randy along with Jennifer, made this devastating and heart wrenching process as nice as can be done, given the circumstances. They were kind, informative, compassionate and very helpful. I expressed my needs to Jennifer over the phone, she quoted me prices and we set an appointment for later that day to complete the arrangements. I could also have handled all the arrangements electronically.
Jennifer communicated clearly about the process and timing of removal of his body, obtaining the death certificate and the cremation. She professionally and compassionately kept me informed of progress throughout the process.

At a tragic time in our life, the last thing my wife and I imagined doing was arranging cremation services after an unexpected family death. My mother in law passed in may. She had prearranged her cremation at trident. Trident was so bad that we had her moved to Balboa. Jennifer and Randy were exceptional. Professional, caring, informative. Balboa also to took care of my own mother in 2018. I give them 5 stars . If you need their services I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I could go on and on but there's not enough words to Express how pleased and thankful I was.

It was a tough time for myself and my family when my father suddenly passed away, and we were very anxious about traveling to San Diego in midst of a pandemic. Randy and Jennifer were very helpful every step of the way; they treated us with compassion and were patient when answering any questions we had. We found Randy kind, knowledgeable, helpful and very accommodating.The obituary pages, guestbook, and photos are so important now that services are delayed. We were especially grateful for their help with the memorialization aspect. Being assigned the task is difficult, even at its best. We would highly recommend Randy and his team, especially now!

My sister and I had to get our father cremated and it has been the saddest time in our lives. From the moment we made the call we knew we made the right choice to trust them with our father! The price was the best around. Even more importantly ,Randy and his lovely associate were compassionate and understanding from the start. We are so thankful we made the right choice with Balboa. We were educated in gentle way about the cremation process. We would recommend them to anyone who has to deal with a loved ones death and the process that goes along with their final decision. U even showed them a few pictures of our dad when I picked up his remains.They took the time to look at them instead of just glancing. My recent experience with Balboa Cremation Services was very good. I found their entire team to be helpful and responsive. After calling probably 5 different services, they had a very balanced and straight forward approach. They did everything as they said and worked with us in a clear and efficient way. I would highly recommend their services.

After learning of the tragic death of our son, we checked reviews on line...because who prepares for this when your son is just 24? I selected Balboa based on the many positive reviews and the cost was equal to or slightly less than the other businesses I called. We live out-of-state and needed to make arrangements and then fly to San Diego to bring home our boy's cremains. Randy was compassionate and helpful every step of the way. I received similar help the few times I spoke to a young lady answering the phone. I shared my itinerary with Randy asking if he could meet that schedule. There are a few reviews suggesting problems with availability, but that was not the case at all. Randy honestly goes the extra mile for you. He sent me the forms to complete on-line...that they can see real-time...so he could help me when I had a question. He had a driver waiting until I completed the release form and even before I finished the balance of the paperwork the following day. He was so efficient that he'd already submitted the paperwork for the death certificate when a short time later I realized I submitted the form with a few errors (i.e., education level and my maiden name). He said it wasn't a problem, he would submit that and the certificate would have a second page). Truly, it's such an emotional time for each family dealing with the death of a loved one under varying circumstances. My suggestion is to just communicate your plans and timing. Our experience when we arrived was exceptional. The same heartfelt compassion and desire to make the experience smooth, professional, and personal. He had the number of death certificates requested, permit to transport the cremains out-of-state/fly, and documentation. We felt blessed that we selected Balboa and would highly recommend this business if you find you, too, are searching for a cremation service. Randy, thank you. We are bringing our boy home.

The staff was kind. The service was really good, very responsive and caring, going out of their way etc. Only thing I would add is that I went to spend half hour with my brother (who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly) to say goodbye before cremation. The area to do so was in the back of the room, and it did not have a door or walls to separate it from the rest of the facility (although it was separated enough that you couldn't see the front desk from where my brother was situated). So while I was crying and saying goodbye, you could hear the front desk greeting people and answering questions. That was a bit awkward I'm sure for all involved. So if either they could build a wall/door, or move people into the smaller rooms (that had walls and doors) off of the side, to talk to them, when someone is saying goodbye to their love ones, that would have made it a lot better. But, would I recommend them? Yes, absolutely. Randy is the best!

When our family faced an unexpected death and in need of assistance Balboa Cremation Services / Village Cremation Services was an answer to our prayers. During an incredibly difficult time the staff were outstanding and the cost was the lowest anywhere. I highly recommend Randy and his team!
