Staff is friendly and accommodating!

Our server was attentive and knowledgeable with the menu. Made sure we didn't order items that we wouldn't like.

Our food choices came out hot and fresh.

Everyone was happy with their choices. Everything on the menu looked tasty and appealing...

Place was busy with customers at the bar. Also all the tables were full. They do have patio seating out front.

Had the pastor 1lb burrito traditional and some chips and salsa. The waiter was great, quick to come up and take my order, refill water and salsa. Had football on and good atmosphere. Burrito was good almost reminded me of a fajita partially but was great and would eat again.

Went with a large party of guys. We squished into a large round booth very uncomfortably. We all ordered the same spicy margaritas which were very good but also very small. The food order was brought out very quick and correct. The food was very good. The guac tasted fresh. Overall good experience and good food.

La Puerta definitely delivers on flavor! The tacos had just the right amount of zest, with a fresh pico de gallo that was a burst of flavor in every bite. And let’s talk about that guacamole – it’s like they've got a secret recipe or something, because it was spot on! The burrito was a hefty serving, drenched in a vibrant red and green sauce and drizzled with a creamy topping that tied everything together beautifully. It was a satisfying centerpiece of our meal. To wash it all down, the spicy margarita was a showstopper – it had a kick, but didn’t overpower the refreshing tequila. The presentation with the rimmed glass added that extra flair. La Puerta has a cool vibe and knows how to whip up some seriously tasty Mexican food. Whether you’re there for the tacos or in it for the drinks, it's a great spot to unwind and indulge. Totally amazing all around! Do not miss out on coming here! Ambiance, vibe, food, drinks and service are amazing! While lotta love was literally the best marg I've ever had! Everyone was thrilled and we had a large party!

We went during happy hour. Their spicy margarita was really good. Complimentary Tortilla chips were freshly made and the salsa here is to die for. Also enjoyed the tacos and tostidas

Great Mexican food with a lively atmosphere. Service was great, we had lunch inside but there are also tables outside.

I was in town for a concert out in Chula Vista and after I landed and got my car I stopped here for lunch based on very favorable reviews. I was not disappointed. I sat at the bar, and Robert took really good care of me. I had the three street taco combination and it was great. Highly recommended.

The ambiance is legit! I love 90s hip hop and Chicano anything so this was amazing. Super awesome bar and staff. I had the Cadillac and Bark at the Moon Margs. The food is stellar, creative and in my top ten tacos!!! 🔥

We came all the way from Toronto Canada to eat at La Peurta. I discovered it while I was in San Diego last year. I made sure to bring my girlfriend so she can taste American/Mexican food.

The carne asada fries are the best that I’ve had from any restaurant. The flavour is exactly what I remembered. Soft and tender beef on top of crispy fries, topped with premium salsa and sour cream. I’m drooling

And don’t forget to order margaritas. They don’t taste as strong as they are

Great place, great food, and amazing margarita (bark at the moon). I regret not ordering a second one and no drink I had later that night compared. I would love to go back and get another. Food was great and arrived quickly. I ordered choose 3 tacos and each was great (carne asada, pastor, y shrimp). My vegetarian friend chose the place and enjoyed the tacos too! *Ask for chips and salsa as they are free upon request! Service was okay, my friends and I are pretty young and I felt we were shrugged off a bit because of this. About an hour wait on a Saturday night for a party of 5 which wasn’t too bad as we were able to sit and stand at the bar.

One of the best (if not) Mexican places in downtown San Diego! Such a wonderful atmosphere, amazing service and of course the food is the best! Tends to get crowded because the space is not that big. One of a few places downtown that also offers a reverse happy hour!

This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the downtown San Diego area. Great environment, the food is amazing and the drink selection is plentiful.

There’s always a great crowd, everyone is friendly, the staff are efficient and welcoming. The place is clean, safe, and the food portion size is more than most anyone could eat at one setting. The house made salsa is incredible, along with the tortilla chips. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, I visit this place every time I’m in San Diego.

Ordered the chicken burrito without the flour tortilla. It was very good. The restaurant was very busy.. We were told a 25 minute wait, but it was only 5 minutes before we were seated.

I enjoyed the pastor 1lb burrito with traditional flavors, accompanied by some chips and salsa. The waiter provided excellent service, promptly taking my order, refilling water, and salsa as needed. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere with football playing, adding to the enjoyment of the meal. The burrito was satisfying, with flavors reminiscent of fajitas, and I would definitely order it again.

The food is absolutely amazing ! Honestly though the best thing on the menu is their guacamole. Their homemade chips and fresh guacamole with pico is so refreshing !

Great food, observant and prompt service, well-mixed cocktails, and convenient location (for conference goers). What more could you ask for? The tacos are generous with tender and flavorful meat, held together by tortillas that hold their shape and withstand the structural challenge of their contents. The chips are thick and perfect for dipping. I got the chopped salad twice - perfect mix with a light and punchy dressing. Every cocktail was a delight.

The true testament of how enjoyable La Puerta is: over the course of seven days, I came to eat here three times!

I’ll most certainly be returning whenever I’m in the area.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Please was packed and was Seated at the bar quickly. Ambiance is great for night out. Margaritas are good too! They have a nice selection of tequila at the full service bar. The 2 salsa that came with the chips were absolutely delicious. I had the mix and match tacos. Pollo asada and grilled veggie. They were great and came with some rice and beans. Will definitely make this a staple during my San Diego trips
