Gardner Automotive Repair

I bought an Elantra at a dealership they’re partnered with about 1/12 this year, and the motor blew up less than a month later. Didn’t get a warranty with it 😬 But they really helped me out. Said since I’d had it such a short amount of time, they’d only charge $1000 to get the motor replaced. I checked, that would’ve been $4300 for parts and labor otherwise. I’ll definitely be going back there for everything I need done!

Mike not only got my car running again right away, he towed it from Ames for a VERY decent price. He went above and beyond and was knowledgeable. He kept me informed every step of the way and was quick to respond to any of my questions. Gardner Automotive Repair is my new go-to mechanic.

The folks at Gardner are amazing. Thoughtful and caring. My truck was really not worth repairing but they understood the sentimental value of the truck. Wherever their shop may move too is where I'll be taking all my vehicle work to.

I went in thinking I needed an O2 sensor replaced, and they informed me it was something else. They fixed the problem and it cost me much less than what I was originally going to have to pay. They are honest and I will definitely use them for my future mechanic needs.

Was stranded on side of highway and called Mike. Told him what was going on and what had happened. Had car towed to his place. He had it fixed within a day and was exactly what he told me over the phone the night before. Mike does fantastic work and stands behind his work as well! Mike is now our go-to mechanic for my family and I.

I had a scary auto problem as a millennial, turned out to be very easy to fix, they took care of it very quickly on a busy day and were very nice about it. They are off 73rd and University in Windsor Heights.

I recently purchased a car from A3 Auto that Mike had done work on and inspected. On the first day of driving the car it started making a noise from one of the tires. We pulled over and learned that all the lugnuts were SUPER loose and we were super lucky a tire didn't fall off! The dealership asked Mike to replace the lugnuts and studs since they were stripped/damaged from driving on them loose. I called to get this scheduled and Mike was super rude to me and was not willing to be at all flexible in scheduling a time for me to bring the car back (I would be driving from 50 minutes away and didn't want to have to take work off for his mistake). He had no remorse for putting me in danger or me being inconvenienced. Also, what repair place only works until 5 and doesn't have weekend hours?? A3 arranged to transport the vehicle for me since Mike was not willing to be flexible. On the drive to A3 the emergency break essentially fell apart and an even worse noise occurred while going 70 mph on the highway. It was terrifying. The car had to be towed it was in such bad shape. Mike's inspection check of the car was obviously of horrible quality. His customer service and availability was just as bad. I would not recommend his service.
