Alternative Fuel Coffee House

Very nice atmosphere. They had the entire building decked out with Christmas decorations which was awesome. We had a snack and coffee. We both had a carmamello latte, which was caramel and marshmallow. It was awesome. The staff was very friendly, service was excellent. They have really good yogurt parfaits and the breakfast sandwiches are to die for. They have good homemade baked goods and other food items that are great to try if you're in the area. It's very convenient to have a good coffee shop at main Street square so you can get coffee before you walk around downtown.

And the hot chocolate made from whole milk is amazing!! A lot of home made grab and go. Skylar was super sweet. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to hang out. Great job!

Very surprised to see that this place only has 3.5 Stars on Yelp. I stopped here needing a quick bite while waiting for my friend to arrive in Rapid City. This place was exactly what I was looking for. It was also my introduction to the Black Hills and was certainly NOT what I was expecting in terms of dining options.

There menu is extensive and full of Gluten-Free and Vegan options. I ended up getting "Fuel Bites" and "Harvest Blast" Fit Fuel smoothie. Both were delicious. The fuel bites were peanut-buttery granola and the shake was filling without being too fruity.

I was only in Rapid City for a few hours but I am glad I stopped here. It totally changed my perspective of the town and the nutritional options available to you. I would highly recommend if you are local or just passing through. Though I did not try their coffee, the menu seemed to be extensive.

COFFEE... the beans are not burned... We wear a Stetson: We look distinguished. The woman called us "kid": We are young, and we are amused . 10/10 STOP HERE DRINK JAVA . EAT. BE MERRY.

Absolutely fantastic! The food and prices were absolutely amazing. The service was fast, friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a garden quiche, a spinach wrap veggie sandwich with Swiss cheese, and a strawberry banana smoothie. The garden quiche was delicious, it was homemade and not at all greasy. You could just tell the ingredients were fresh.

A cozy little coffee shop perfect for a stop before going to or coming from the Prairie Edge Trading Company store and gallery. Friendly service and a great latte! And outdoor seating.

The best Danish I've had in years, possibly ever. Very good breakfast burritos. Minus a star for no decaf. My husband said the coffee was good.
Edit to respond to the response from the owner: I had actually requested a decaf latte, not a drip coffee, so perhaps decaf was just out that morning. Thank you for the response. We'll stop in again if we make it to town again in the future.

Wonderful little coffee house on the Main Street square. Awesome spot right next to the park. Went for breakfast (bagel sandwich and a farmer’s quiche) which was so good. The owner was so kind and emphasizes using local products! The smoothies are very good and refreshing. Their espresso is great, too!! Alternative Fuel exceeded my expectations! Come here for sure

Delicious coffee! Amazing pastries! Delightful atmosphere! Kind and helpful staff! The perfect music in the background. We should
know!! After unexpectedly spending 6 days in Rapid City in the dead of winter, Alternative Fuel became our silver lining!! We not only came back every day (played cards at our table while enjoying watching ice skating, made several new friends, enjoyed a sweet visit with the owner), but once we finally headed where we were supposed to go, we planned our trip home around passing through Rapid and getting one last cup for the road!

Our favorite by far was the dirty chai nog!! But we tried a few others as well and they were great too! Don’t pass up on the pastries or the quiche. Can’t wait to drive through again and treat ourselves.

Great gluten free options! Stopped here for breakfast as we were passing through and it was lovely to find somewhere to get celiac-safe cookies, quiche, and snacks for the road. Grateful to the staff for all their patience with questions about allergens.

A hidden gem in downtown Rapid City!

Very friendly staff, great coffee and eats. Such an inviting little coffee shop for weary travelers taking in the beauty of the area. Definitely stop in if you find yourself in the Black Hills!

I finally found a Coffee Shop that suits me, to have my "me" time!! YES!!!

Those who give low rating to this place, they don't know what they are talking about!! I don't want to go to a place where people flocked the place, act ignorant and mannerless. Flocking a place doesn't necessarily means that the place is good, most of the time what it means is that people don't know better,and they think that because is crowded most be good.

This place is cute, excellent vibe, excellent customer service, beautiful decor, absolutely delicious and fresh food!!

It's what a coffee shop is all about, you can go and sit, relax, have a nice conversation with someone, or read something good without a concern that obnoxious people and/or kids will ruin your personal time.

If you love Coffee Shops, I absolutely encourage you to visit this one!! :)

Found this place on the FindMe Gluten Free app. It was great! Had the GF quiche and a slice of GF Eggnog bread with no issues. Coffee was great too! We WILL be back!

Stopped here during a cross country road trip. Fun coffee shop with plenty of baked goods to choose from. I had a medium coffee and a quiche before continuing my drive to Wyoming.

Really good coffee. The batista was very nice and efficient. Access the shop via the neighboring parking ramp. Lots of choices in drinks and eats.

Met friends here for coffee. When I saw the menu, I could not resist trying a Peaceful Paradise Smoothie, instead. It was really tasty. We were able to sit at a table with our drinks and enjoy some good conversation and great background music. Great atmosphere, nice little place. Glad to have tried it and will go back again.

This is my husband's favorite coffee place in rapid city to date. I'm not a big coffee nut myself but there are so many other options to choose from. I had the chicken salad wrap and cranberry smoothie. Everything was delicious, fresh, and fast.

This is my favorite spot in town and is definitely my 'go-to.'
Their flavored lattes are excellent, and I love the rotating, seasonal drink menu. I also love their salads and desserts. I come here at least once a week - I don't agree with the reviews about the unfriendly staff. I have personally never experienced or witnessed that. In fact, one day Patty offered me a cushion to sit on while I did school work. She has also taken time to sit down and chat with me. That's above and beyond. They do get busy at times, but that's what we want to see for these small businesses. It's in a great location, too. Highly recommend.

Our barista was fantastic, and everyone loved their coffee! The espresso is clearly very good quality, and my mocha actually tasted like coffee, not too sweet.

Tons of drink options from coffee to tea to smoothies! They had 4 different size options for your drink of choice and the pricing was comparable to most coffee shops. I got an iced vanilla latte and could tell it was made with high quality coffee.
