We loved our breakfast at Open Oven! I’ve never see a brighter friendliest hostess in my life. Angela is literally the warmest person on earth. She greets everyone like an old friend, and it made such an impact on the experience. Whatever she gets paid, she deserves a raise!
Food wise, the chicken and waffles Benedict was delicious! My breakfast melt was the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in a long time. I loved that they offered their hot sauces too. We will be back!

We came to Black Mountain to do a Google story on the town and things to do! Especially the food!

Let me start by saying that we are FOODIES at the highest level! We look for locally sourced.

We do our research!

Love the fact that Steven & Stephanie the owners source cage free eggs, and antibiotic & hormone-free meats.

Upon our arrival to Open Oven Brunch & Bakery, we were immediately greeted by the most friendliest hostess, Angela. She walked us in and directed us to where we place our order.

The baked goods case was pretty packed and I noticed the challah bread and the cheesecake brownie were down to one so I said, let’s take those to go!
There’s a big selection- we need to try more the next time we visit.

Let’s get to the breakfast!
My husband went with an eggs Benedict & I went with two eggs, bacon, waffles & Steven brought out the banana’s foster to top it. Oh my goodness!!!!!

The biscuits with gravy was perfection!
In fact, EVERYTHING we tasted was delicious! Hands down one of the best breakfast we have ever had!

If you are in Asheville, take the drive.
This place doesn’t disappoint.

Bon appétit
Josephine

This is one of the best restaurants in Black Mountain. All breads and pastries are made in house and they sure do know how to make a delicious eggs Benedict. They also serve a wonderful lunch. I crave their turkey sandwich on homemade sourdough. I believe the sandwich is called the Firebird. It is absolutely delicious with jalapeños. 😋 The service is always friendly and fast. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing a brunch spot.

Very chill atmosphere, had a lovely brunch on the patio with my dogs. Fresh and delicious avocado toast with a Bloody Mary that hit the spot!! I had a raspberry homemade pop tart too! Would recommend!

Open Oven service was exceptional. The hosting and service team- Gabriel and Mark were warm and attentive. They displayed extraordinary customer service and undivided attention. Made me feel I was the only person in a placed packed with customers. The food was amazing! I had the Philly Cheese Steak toast. Being an Avocado Toast Purist, I was ambivalent to say the least, but went with flow taking the crew’s suggestion. I was on my way back from Asheville to Raleigh, hoping it will hold me all the way through. Guess what? It did. To the management/ Owners- Your success is directly related to the quality of your team. You are blessed to have such an outstanding staff. Cheers to the Team!

Had dinner here for the first time and the food was amazing! Been coming here for their incredible breakfast for a long time. We were pretty excited when they announced that they were doing dinner hours. We knew it was going to be good based off how good their breakfast is but we weren’t prepared for how delicious it actually ended up being. The Trout is the best fish either of us has ever tasted and the Pork Chop was absolutely incredible! Highly recommend both. All the staff are always so friendly and whoever is in charge of making the menus and cooking the food is really talented. I’m sure it’ll be packed once everyone gets the memo about the dinner hours

Our favorite breakfast place in Black Mountain (although you must also get a Grey Beard from Blue Ridge Biscuit Company while you’re in town). They have the most unique and delightful Eggs Benedict combinations and you can’t go wrong with their specials. We also enjoyed the lavender and rosemary lemonade options. My husband is a fan of the chicken and waffles.

Nice local restaurant with delicious fresh food. The shrimp and grits were wonderful and the fresh orange juice mimosa was perfect. All eight adults ordered a variety of items and everyone was pleased with their food. The staff was very friendly and patient.
The small space for ordering/paying was a little hectic but they have protocol posted at the door to help the process work smoothly. I would love to eat there again when we return to the area.

Food: My Bourbon Street Waffle really hit the spot on this rainy morning, piled high with succulent bananas and doused liberally with flavorful sauce. It came with a choice of proteins - the Smiling Hara tempeh “bacon” was my pick and although I’m not a huge tempeh fan, this was good, it’s saltiness providing a nice contrast to the sweetness of the dish.

Coffee: Some other Black Mtn. Breakfast spots have been dinged for watery, flavorless java. There’s no excuse for that in this town, the home of the original Dripolator! No worries, Open Oven features Dynamite Roasting Co. brews, and my cup of Sumatra was kickin’.

Service: Friendly, fast, competent. ’Nuff said.

Ambience: Homey, intimate, feels like family.

My old crew from Asheville Radiology (before I went into real estate 😁) and I went out for girls brunch and it was AMAZING! Luckily the weather was great too and we sat on the covered patio upstairs. The view, the food, the drinks-yummm! I’m going to have to come back with the family and/or clients and try other dishes.
Everything that everyone got was super delicious. Can’t wait to go back. And will definitely recommend to others!

This place is insanely good. It’s cute and eclectic. Super friendly staff as well! Highly recommend getting here before they open. The line outside can get crazy. The rooftop is the spot to be! The chicken and waffles, man… damn.

Hands down the best breakfast and lunch spot in Black Mountain. Only problem is trying to decide what to get- such an excellent and varied menu! Really appreciate the scratch cooking- it shows in the fresh flavors and presentation. The place also has a great ambiance- relaxed and cozy, and everyone is so friendly! The patio is lovely ☺

If you visit Black Mountain NC, wake up early to visit Open Oven Brunch and Bakery. Step inside the world of southern hospitality and enjoy breakfast.

The breakfast was simply delicious. I enjoyed the Southern Style Omelet that came with home fries or grits, and toast. The toast was served with home made jam, which was sweet.

For the Gen Z folks, there is avocado and toast which my non Gen Z wife enjoyed.

The service is wonderful and friendly. The environment of the restaurant reminds me of a bed and breakfast.

Simple, Southern, and a great breakfast to fill your belly for a day's hike in the mountains.

Excellent local restaurant!! My kids loved the pecan pancakes. Also, since they bake their bread on site the sandwiches are delicious. Highly recommended. Great service and quality as well!

***Update*** had brunch with our friends from out of town. The staff was very friendly and took safety precautions with hand sanitizer available for guests and all wait staff wore masks. Our table had a mix of everything from the superb shrimp & grits, to the morning melt, pesto omelette, and even a side of biscuits & gravy. We also partook in mimosas just to top it all off. Let’s be honest in our current day and age with everything going on it’s nice to have the option for an adult beverage to take the edge off now and again. To continue we sat outside on the patio which was dog friendly and very kid friendly as well (with tables placed further apart for safety.) They also had a bunch of different types of baked goods which all look delectable but we didn’t have a chance to nab any this time. In general the place was clean the food was delicious and it came out fast. There was plenty of variety for everyone to choose. Much happier this go around compared to Octobers. Bravo guys well done!!

Terrific brunch spot. We sat upstairs and it was a great vibe with very good food. Try the delicious eggs benedict on a waffle with fried chicken. Unbelievable!

Amazing breakfast spot downtown Black Mountain. Only had to wait 10 minutes for a table, which I thought was good for a Saturday at 10am. I had their vegan hash (special), and it was FABULOUS!!! Highly recommend. It’s right around the corner from some local shops. This made for an incredible Saturday experience in Black Mountain!

This is THE place! The food was delicious but the real star was Mark! His customer service was phenomenal. It’s always so nice when the staff are exceptional as well as personable and friendly. Mark went above and beyond I hope it shows in his paycheck :) LOVE THIS PLACE!!

Amazing brunch. Had the basic waffle and the Christmas waffle with the Poinsettia. Best meal we’ve had on the whole trip. Just be sure to request extra syrup—it’s soooo delicious and barely the size of a NyQuil cup.
