Black Mountain Yarn Shop

Stopped here on the way to vacation. First time in the store and it was so nice!!! They had a indie dyer’s market going on that was really fun and a bunch of yarns to oogle that I don’t have at my local yarn shop. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I've been going to this shop since it was itty bitty down the road and it has grown so much! Not only in size but they have kept and refreshed the yarn selection and now they even have fabrics!!!! I was just there last weekend and the atmosphere was so welcoming and modern. Renee and Danni made sure I felt welcomed and helped me choose the perfect yarn for my sweater as always. My only regret is that I don't live closer, but it is definitely worth the drive❤👌😁 IT IS GAS😎

Talk about a gorgeous space! I love Black Mountain Yarn Shop - the beautiful light coming in, the fun logo, and of course the amazing yarn. I’ve purchased needles, a shirt, yarn, and more over the years. I live in Virginia and am not local but the shop owner and her team truly make me feel at home every time I’m there.

Had the opportunity to drive to BMYS today with another yarn lover. Wow! Everyone was so nice, very impressed with the Spincycle inventory, the best I have seen. Many other yarns and I bought enough for 3 sweaters. I also had the chance to add many skeins to my dyed in the wool stash. 😍 My friend was also drooling over the yarn and added to her stash. I spent far too much but it was worth it. I highly recommend this store if you love high quality yarn. Beautiful store and beautiful town as well. It was worth 8 hours in the car round trip. Best yarn store in NC that I have seen, and I have seen many.

I finished knitting my Turbulence shawl using your wonderful Spin Cycle yarn and I am thrilled with how soft and beautiful it is! Thank you again for all your assistance in picking out the yarn colors. I am really happy with my project!

Can't say enough good things about my shopping experience! Renee was a HUGE help. I live in Oregon and was purchasing gifts for a friend in Oklahoma. Renee made everything super easy! I have very little knowledge of yarn products; however Renee was super knowledgeable. She was able to help me find the perfect gift. Would highly recommend this shop due to the vast selection of products and especially due to Renee with her customer service skills and product knowledge!

Great place to find beautiful yarn, fabrics and more. Staff is kind and helpful. Everything for your Crocheting and Knitting, as well as some sewing. They have friendly staff always there to help.

My Grandson and I visited in the middle of March during our Spring Break. I had not been to the shop for several years. It was in a new building and was quite spacious. The staff members were very friendly and were patient with my Grandson who chose three handful of buttons that were on sale. He thought he hit the goldmine that day. I was able to get my mountain yarn fix. Until the next trip which I hope will be sooner rather than later.

Wonderful local yard shop that is a must-see if you are in the area. They have an awesome selection and great yarnfests in the fall.

Friendly well-stocked yarn store. Lots of room to move around and see the huge selection of yarns. Nice seating area for those who need a break. The notions wall was thoughtfully stocked with a wide assortment of items.

Donna’s shop is one of my happy places. I love not only the amazing selection of beautiful yarn, but the feeling of welcome that is extended to all shoppers. Donna and her staff are knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and a lot of fun to be around. I have really appreciated the care that has been taken to protect shoppers and staff during the Covid pandemic. Shopping by appointment and strict adherence to infection control measures make me feel safe and comfortable while shopping. I also appreciate all that Donna and Don did to get the online shopping up and going in record time this past spring. Being quarantined was a lot more fun having the option of doing online shopping at the Black Mountain Yarn Shop The online store provides the same great selection of yarn and notions. And did I mention bags??!!

This is a must see shop for any yarn enthusiast! The store is in beautiful downtown Black Mountain and is in a beautiful building. There are tons of yarn choices and the staff was very helpful. Make sure to catch a class with Renee for crochet. She’s super patient and helpful with teaching you the art of crochet.

Amazing! Yes, there are two full rooms of yarn, notions, project bags and more. This is the largest store of yarn I have ever been inside. The brands, weights, and colors are outstanding and beautifully displayed.

Overwhelmed at first until I went through slower and picked skeins up, felt them, a true sensory event. Don't miss the gorgeous selection of project bags. Even if you do not knit or crochet, go!!!

The staff is happy, friendly and very knowledgable. There is a rack filled with shawls and finished pieces. Just pick one and these ladies will help you with the yarn options, yardage, patterns and colors. You can tell they love what they do.

Now my knitting group is wanting to take the 3 hour drive from Virginia to enjoy this marvel. Even my husband enjoy the experience and learned a few things about yarn.

Another amazing long weekend at my favorite destination -- Black Mountain Yarn Shop! It is my LYS even though it is 2 hrs from the house. Many exclusives can be found and a wide range of products. Best yarns and makers supply wall ever... and let's mention the beautiful bags. Love my purchases and the staff is great! Don, Donna, Nancy and Katy! Always willing to let you take your time and enjoy the sense of community. Met two great new friends this trip. Can't tell you how many friends I have added to my circle because of this shop. Looking forward to my October trip already!

We stopped by while on vacation in September, the woman that helped us was spectacular! Big pumpkin earrings! I told her that I was making a custom poncho for my son and she asked me to share, so here it is! Thanks for being awesome!

Donna is amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. In the last two months I have been trying to duplicated a pattern from a picture a friend sent me. I have also been in about 10 yarn shops across the country trying to locate the pattern. Most shop personnel simply did not want to be bothered. Donna immediately recognized it and gave me the pattern. The yarns in Black Mountain Yarn Shop are so amazing I added to my too large stash.

A couple of weeks ago I ordered two skeins of specialty yarn from this wonderful shop. I received my yarn within a couple of days of my order (amazing speed!), but alas, it was the wrong weight (it was worsted and I had ordered sport weight). I contacted the shop via email ... they were SO apologetic and immediately sent me the correct yarn along with a prepaid label to return the incorrect yarn to them. What amazing customer service! I will absolutely order from them again! Thank you!

We received a warm welcome along with specific instructions on projects and the requisite needles. The yarn inventory is extensive and very impressive. We look forward to our next visit.
