Black Mountain Stove & Chimney

I ordered a Lopi Evergreen insert from Mr Bob Orr at Black Mountain after talking to several companies in the area. Bob came out and measured the space to make sure everything would fit properly. We then placed the order after he gave me a fair and complete estimate listing the items needed and the price.

When the stove arrived in NC they came out as promised Mr Orr and his helper Willie were polite, quick, professional, knowledgeable about the product and in no time at all were vacuuming up the area and out the door.

Hard to find that kind of knowledge and professionalism anymore. I no doubt made the right choice.

We ordered a Jotul 400 DV Sebago propane freestanding stove from BMS&C in June 2021 after Robert visited, gave us a quote, and inspected our stove placement and chimney. Although it took several months for the stove to arrive, Bob and his assistant showed up in late September, cleaned the flu and installed the stove. They worked hard to get it right. The Jotul performed far better than we expected for the entire winter, and we rarely needed to turn it on 'high' setting - it heated our entire house! We enjoy the radiant heat, plus it looks great! We had heated with a Jotul wood stove for over 40 years (that we bought used from BMS&C!)... and were glad to be done with smoke, creosote, ash and wood hauling. We highly recommend BMS&C. We are very impressed with the large selection of stoves, the service we got on the phone as well as in the business and the honesty of the the proprietor. We were very impressed with their availability while communicating back and forth. Most the other places lacked the ability to call us back or email us back. So we highly recommend Black Mountain Stove and we give them our sale!

The gas company came out to connect my fireplace. They could not get it let other than the pilot. They suggested that the thermocouple was probably bad and needed to be replaced. I removed the thermocouple and took it to Black mountain stove and chimney. Bob was beyond helpful!! He tested the thermocouple and determined it was good and then asked me about how the fireplace was wired. when I explained the wiring he said this is your problem and he brought out a gas regulator valve similar to mine and explain the wiring on the front of it and said that it was Miss wired and one of my wires needed to move to another terminal. I got back home and wired it exactly how Bob suggested he even drew a schematic for me to take and fireplace lit right up.
Bob saved me a lot of money on having a technician to a service call on our fireplace.
I really appreciated the professionalism and knowledge that Bob had I will definitely be doing any business fireplace related with Black mountain stove and chimney!

Great people. Excellent service. We purchased a Hearthstone wood stove castleton model soapstone and cast iron. We have them install it. They did an excellent job.

Bob left the job site and met me so I could get stove pipe. Very helpful to me. A nice store and a nice owner. It's where I will go for all my wood stove needs!!

Really helpful and knowledgeable, gave me advice over the phone about my gas logs and saved me a service call. Would definitely use in the future again.

Need to update.
Bob has come and is trying to figure out what is the problem with out stove. There is a recall for the starter. Not sure if our stove falls under that.
Bob is really working with us to figure what we need to do.
We purchased our stove a Waistfield Dx last year. When with recommendation from owner, because he said it was available and was a good At first look very knowledgeable.
How ever is not. Our Gas fireplace was installed in late April early May. Work well for a little while. But summer in fall every thing seems fine. When October cane around the pilot wouldn’t work. He came out 2 times both times is impossible to reach him, he get cranky and is I do not have time.
Try to reach out to manufacturers but they won’t answer you need to reach who you purchase your stove.
3 time he shows up and finally realized he had left damper open and that’s why stove wouldn’t work.
Supposed to fix was working for 4 weeks.
Now again is not working.
We spend a lot of money and he won’t respond.
So fo not get anything from him.
Again he will come when he is not busy.

Jeff, Thank you for leaving me a message in return of my "only used stars" (I hadn't written anything) review, but I've never used your service or been in your store! Not sure how I did that, but I wanted to be honest about it. We don't even have a fireplace or woodstove in our house. 🤷‍♀

Do not have your wood stove installed by Black Mountain Stove & Chimney. The workers don't even know how to use a tape measure. My husband had to keep calling Bob to try to get him to fix several issues - My husband was told he wasn't a priority. Sure, not a priority even though he purchased and spent over $5,000. We had an absolutely horrible experience with this company who even sprayed our vent with paint INSIDE OUR HOME!

If you're looking for a stove, find another place. We were misquoted on the price of a stove we wanted, and only given the correct price after driving over an hour to pick it up. We were told other stoves we were interested in were on order and set to arrive before the end of the year, only to be told more wouldn't arrive until the spring. I can't speak to the quality of their chimney cleaning or installation services, but I certainly hope it's better than their salesmanship.

This company installed our fireplace and we had issues from start. Owner showed up and had to repair the install. Have had issues with getting in touch with them since. Voicemail is always full. 6 years later and now the chimney flashing is rusted completely through causing damage in our house. When called while it was leaking, only response was "We will sent someone when we can". Zero sense of urgency. I would never suggest anyone do business with them again. I certainly won't.
