John & Nick's Steak & Prime Rib Inc

Went here on a whim and we're very surprised. The restaurant was full for dinner service on a Thursday but never felt overcrowded.

The service was great and the salad bar is a great addition, super yummy and convenient. Our main entrées were well grilled and delicious. Kids enjoyed their spaghetti and meatball dishes. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be back.

We had our company Christmas dinner here with 12 of us. Our waitress was outstanding! Most of us had some kind of steak and I heard no complaints. I got the tomahawk ribeye which is ridiculously huge but delicious. Prices are up there but no higher than other places. A side is included plus the whole salad bar and they bring you some bread. Pretty good value for great food! I also like that it is carpeted so not too noisy. I plan to return.

Wonderful place to enjoy dinner. The food, customer service, and a warm and cozy atmosphere are fantastic. The best prime rib I have ever eaten by far. I ordered an 8 ounce and there was hardly a fat on it and it looked bigger than 8 ounces. They also have an ice chilled salad bar with plenty of options to choose from. A little bit more pricey but definitely worth it! The only downside is the hours of operation but overall 5 stars.

The food was great, the salad bar was fabulous, and the sirloin my daughter ordered was almost as good as a $300 steak I've had at a beach resort in Florida. I had the prime rib, and it was very good. We will be back!!

Service was amazing, steaks are 10 stars. We were visiting from out of state and best steak house we have been to in a long time! Great evening and food.

Our friends recommended arriving 10-minutes before opening on a Saturday evening. Boy, were we glad we followed their advice. The line formed, and we were at the front. It's no wonder there was a line: The steaks are high quality, chef prepared morsels of goodness, and the accompanying salad bar was fantastic. Salad bars are rare these days, and this one was stocked with numerous fresh items.

Everything was wonderful. I will try to get a different table next time as ours was right by the salad bar, which led to a couple traffic jams and small anxiety of being crowded. But we will be back. I finally found a steakhouse my husband really enjoyed and is excited to go back to. And that's a lot as he isn't a fan of steak. But his strip was perfectly seared, seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The same for my prime rib, which was a huge serving. I'm picky and don't normally go for the nightly special, but apparently saturdays is the night for steak and seafood combo specials. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.

This place is fabulous. The food is delicious. The servers and other staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Willing to help if needed. The salad bar is amazing so many options. They have a large cocktail and wine menu. Prices reasonable. The decor is old world ambience. Will visit again.

This was my first visit! Loved the intimate vibe. Salad bar was crisp and fresh. Steak cooked perfectly. Warm and friendly service!

Let's start by saying if you like Steak this is one of the places you want to visit.
Called ahead and was told to get there in 15 minutes, walked in and sat down. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere was delightful.
I ordered the prime rib and grilled shrimp. Others in my party order sirloins and ribeyes and all steaks were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. After visiting the enormous salad bar, it was hard to believe I was able to eat an 8 oz Prime Rib.
Although this place is pricy it is definitely worth the visit. Top notch.

We love this restaurant! The atmosphere has low lighting and is cozy. Great drinks and food. Mahi Mahi is one of my favs. They have a large amazing salad bar that could be a meal all by itself. We recommend this for your next group or date night.

An absolutely wonderful experience! The crab stuffed shrimp appetizers were delicious. The filet mignon was perfect. Salad bar is the best in the metro. Cocktails were top notch. Rachel was the best at taking care of us. Well worth the money spent!

Wonderful meal and experience. Salad bar was great. Prime rib was so delicious! Glad we finally gave it a try. It is a little bit smaller space wise so it fills up and is busy but the food was worth it. Will be going back for sure.

Was gonna go elsewhere for our 20th anniversary, but decided on our usual, John & Nicks, WOW STILL THE BEST in TOWN!!

If you are looking for a little bit of an under known location to get a nicer meal try this out. The steaks were great with good seafood options. The salad bar was about as plentiful as you could ask for! Not a tough problem recommending this one!

This restaurant was fabulous for our special evening to celebrate the engagement of our daughter and her boyfriend. Wine, amazing food combined with awesome service made a memorable event for all of us!

The endless salad bar was full of fresh vegetables and salads. Tonight's entrée special was prime rib, shrimp and lobster and I heard it was so delicious. I personally enjoyed the fried shrimp and top sirloin combination.

Great selection of steak and the seafood essentials - salmon, scallops, and shrimp, which can be prepared a few different ways. I got bacon wrapped scallops and crab-stuffed shrimp, and I would have preferred the scallops without bacon.

The salad bar had a great variety of ingredients and a few pasta salads. I would have liked to see small label cards for each ingredient container because while some were obvious to identify, not all of them were.

Service was wonderful, across the board! Our server checked back often and got our orders perfectly correct.

Overall, I would recommend visiting John & Nick's and enjoying a wonderful meal experience!

Food was delicious, service excellent. Two special request were made and staff seemed happy to take care of them. Business was slow at the time we were there but still I received the impression that the service would be good even if the place had a line waiting to get in. Portions were generous and delicious. Pre dining warm bread was provided and it was excellent as well.

Seems to have the best salad bar ive ever had.Coming from someone who's been to a lot of steak houses. The prime rib was excellent as well.

The prime rib here is the best I've ever had!! All meals come with all-you-can-eat salad bar with everything you could ever want on a salad and lots of side salads (pasta salads, potato salad, oreo fluff- the best!, pickled herring, the list goes on forever)! They don't take reservations for small groups, but there is a nice bar area if you need to wait on busy nights. The service has been excellent every time we've been there and the portions are always generous. I highly recommend this restaurant for everyone!!!! Definitely one of our favorites in the Des Moines area!
