Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

My husband and I have been regular Perkins customers for many years. It's our go-to restaurant - and this location is our favorite! The staff is always friendly and treats us like family. Except for a very few occasions when they have been short-staffed, or the restaurant is especially busy, service is generally always excellent and timely. The servers are the best - friendly and attentive, and always open to accommodate special requests or menu substitutions. The food is always tasty and cooked to order. On the few occasions when a food item isn't quite up to expectations, they are eager to make it right, or substitute another dish. Some of my favorite entrees are the Hibachi Grilled Shrimp and the Honey Mustard Chicken Crunch Salad. And the Pumpkin Pancakes are scrumptious! Food is reasonably priced, although beverage prices seem a little high. But refills are free and unlimited. Last night we both had a lunch duo with a nice tossed salad and a generous half Chicken Melt sandwich - more than enough food to fill us up.

The decor at this location is somewhat dated, and could stand to be refreshed, but overall, the restaurant appears clean and comfortable. One of the things we appreciate is the generally low noise level. My husband has hearing problems, and Perkins is one of the few places we can go for dinner and easily hear each other, even when it's a pretty full house.

Amber was so amazing. She was super kind. Got our food out to us quickly. And even put extra powdered sugar on my muffin. 10/10 would recommend.

We had a large party, including adults, teens, and small children. We were seated promptly and well taken care of by the staff. The food was good, as expected, with Perkins.

Friendly staff. Our waitress Amber is awesome!! She is so helpful, friendly, and sweet to us!! We love coming each week to see her.

Consistently hot and fresh breakfast. We really enjoy the peanut butter silk pie. The customer service is also wonderful at this location.

This was the only place pretty much open in a Friday nite in Des Moines. Went looking for food after my hockey game everything was pretty much closed and didn't wanna eat in the car. This place had excellent service and tasty food!!

Amber is an excellent waitress. She is friendly and very efficient. The food is always good.

Paula was an exceptional host! She was very attentive to our needs! She was very kind to my daughter! We appreciated her service very much. Clean restaurant with great food!

It was a great place. The foods amazing, so is the service. The place is cozy and cool, but I little dirty with the food on the floor. Overall it was great. Since we went when it was busier we had about a 20 min wait.

Classic, great place with long-time staff that always treat you right, and who doesn't love pie?

The staff was great and the food was absolutely wonderful. Large portions, very fresh, nice crisp fries, the country fried steak was tender. And the chocolate silk pie was truly tasty!

The beauty of the sunset pictured outside Perkins matched the excellent service and delicious meals we were served. Our plates from the Senior menu were superb!

Decided to stop for lunch. Hadn't been here for quite some time, but glad I stopped. Was seated quickly & waitress (Rhonda) was very attentive and polite. Food was delivered in a timely manner and was presented nicely. Would stop here again if in the area.

I will admit I had low expectations, but left well fed and well impressed.

As always, Perkins for the win. Our greeter was personable and he was thoughtful of my fathers needs (a walker). Our waiter was on top of everything and a genuine good person. Our cashier was a kind man who took the computer issues in stride. A very relaxing experience in what could have been a s**tshow. Thank you!

Was here with grand kids & family, & had a wonderful time! The server was prompt, kind, & efficient! The food was perfectly cooked, & in a very short amount of time, especially, as always seems to be in this industry, as I've worked in it all my life myself. Always seems to be a "feast", or "famine", type scenario! You either have nobody at all, or everybody all at the same time! Noone else there when we got seated, & less than 5 minutes later, the restaurant was full! Only one server working the entire place herself, & did an amazing job! It was Tuesday, so an added bonus when the host told us kids 12 & under ate free, which my three grand kids qualified for, so no more need said! Thanks to our host, server, & cook, for doing a amazing job!

First time here, we had half price appetizers after 9. They were Amazing. The service was really good. I was pleasantly surprised. You could see the staff disinfect tables between customers everyone was wearing masks. I felt very safe eating here. All in all Really Great Experience

Well we're to start we were greated with a" Welcome to Perkins !" The manager I believe her name was Marlisa was very prompt and got my kids and I seated. I have to say everytime my kids and I come here she is always busy doing the jobs of 5 people and is always very nice. Calley was our server she was GREAT! Food was awesome! My kids love the Mac n cheese! And to end the evening there was issues with the computers/credit card machines were super slow and there were people kind of getting frustrated but with every customer Marlisa explained and apologized with a smile. I don't know how you girls do it but THANK YOU!!

Tristan has served us for the last 3 Wednesdays and is exceptional at what he does. He’s very compassionate about his work, the restaurant and making you feel very welcome!!

We do orders to go most of the time. We have a discount on the food that helps out.
