Excellent food. They are friendly. I tend to think restaurants attached to grocery stores to be a little more authentic, this lived up. I cant wait to go back and try more.

this is not only the best Mexican food I've ever tasted but this is the best food in general I have ever, this place has some amazing staff that made the most amazing meal I've ever had. I am now a life long customer of awesome cuisine.

I am one of those people who can appreciate a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. This is exactly what that is and a great example of one to love. The cozy atmosphere makes you feel like you have stumbled onto a secret place, which is helped by the entrance to the restaurant. I happened upon a great groupon deal to where I paid $16.40 for 2. meals up to 14.99 each (I believe that's the price, 12.99 didn't sound right in my head). My guest really enjoyed it as well and said he would definitely want to revisit.

Part of me doesn't want to write this review because I love being able to get my order because they aren't usually busy. I feel like this is one of the best kept secrets of Urbandale. Food is always flavorful and filling. Not only do you have a wonderful restaurant here, but a grocery full of spices, baked goods and so much more.

The food was fantastic, delicious. I love pollo loco everywhere and this was the best I've had. Salsa is nice and hot! Stopped in to the market too, for some fruit and candy. Great experience , super nice people!

I liked this place. Great food. A lil slow cause it appears they're running a Mexican mart as well but the service was great overall and the food was tasty. Ill go back here when I'm in the area.

A true hole in the wall place with outstanding food. It's in a strip mall so not conspicuous from the main street. I had the tilapia grilled with shrimp and hubby had the steak fajitas. The portions were huge and the food was delightful. The restaurant is attached to a grocery store so the vegetables and the fish was very fresh. We will definitely go back again. The service was very kind and awesome.

The food is delicious! Their mole sauce is amazing. Portions are very big. The salsa is good and spicy.

Great food and nice outdoor dining area. The outdoor dining area was large with nice shade from trees surrounding the area. Very different flavors than some of the other Mexican restaurants in the area, in a good way. The food was very flavorful and the portions were quite large. The chips and salsa also came with beans as an appetizer. The drinks were delicious and we enjoyed a Pina Colada. I'll definitely be coming back.

Huge portions for the price, bursting with flavor! I ordered through doordash and was happy that they accommodated my requests. The food is delicious! I will order again!

What an abolute surprise. Stopped in last night to give it a try and the results were terrific. Service was awesome and so was the food. 4 of us for dinner, chimichanga was very tasty, fajitas were spot on and plentiful. Taco salad hit a home run and the chorizo burrito was spectacular. This is for sure getting a repeat visit. If I had anything negative to say it would be that the salsa needs some work.

I've only been to the store part, but it was amazing! The produce was fresh, and the store offered a lot of great products. They had a nice meat selection and chorizo was great, although not that spicy. Everyone in the store was friendly and helpful.

We have been here 4 times now. Always great food and fantastic service. The carne asada is to die for. Hubby always gets the street tacos. The kind people working here really make it a great restaurant and they even have a grocery store if you'd like to take extra home!!!

Best spanish rice iv had in a long time. I order a tequila sunrise and it was well worth my money. I ordered caso and is comes with salsa and some refried beans which i loaded in my caso and it was delicious. For my main meal i ordered the chicken chimichanga and it was delicious. Definitely come back again the service and food is amazing

Me and my wife tried La Tropicana for the first time, tonight. The food there was like no other Mexican restaurant in Des Moines. The food was not only aesthetically pleasing but the flavors in it have yet to be matched; and I've eaten at numerous restaurants all over Iowa. The foods either too bland or looks like trouble, and simply put, not worth the wait. Our waiter J, was extremely polite and the service he provided was top notch. I recommend this place to any couples out there looking to have an excellent meal, with quality service. I know my wife and I will return also. #FineDining #LaTropicana Bravo.

Favorite street tacos in town! And without the truck! Offers a casual dine in area plus grocery store; with fresh tamales and other necessities. Definitely a place I visit weekly. Takeout orders are also available.
