La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Des Moines West Clive

me and my girlfriend arrived at abound 2 am after driving all day to the hotel. we were greeted upon arrival by the manager and she was super nice and helpful. gave us insight to the area and just good conversation in general. we checked into our room and it was spotless and extremely comfortable. great experience at a great price !

I stayed at this hotel 2 years in a row and it’s lovely. This year was even better, it’s been remodeled. All of the employees were very friendly and welcoming. They have fresh on demand coffee and a pleasant fragrance hits your nose as you walk the hallways. Manager was very friendly and proud of his hotel. I would stay here again and again, it’s also walking distance from a Cracker Barrel and a couple other places. Pet friendly is also a big bonus. Oh, also rain shower head in the shower, you could be 6’5 and still stand underneath it.

This hotel was one of the best I've stayed at in a long while. The room was average, food was good, everything was clean (entry, room, hallways, sitting area, lounge area, etc), pool was big enough for my soccer team to enjoy and the seating area was large enough to enjoy with some of the soccer parents. There was no TV outside which the manager said was being replaced which was fine. The 'fireplace' was all for show and didn't put out any warmth but I didn't expect it to push heat.

Hotel rules were that no running in the hallways and everything had to wind down at 10pm local time. This wasn't a problem because my players were in their rooms earlier than that. The manager welcomed us on the Friday evening and sat with us while we enjoyed the nice weather on the patio by the pool.

Saturday was a different story with some 'Karen' that wouldn't stop being a 'Karen'. The pool rules said no 'jumping' so that was her first visit to the manager. The second visit was 10 min later about too much splashing but that wasn't in the rules. I talked with my team and they agreed no more jumping in the pool. The lady proceeded to follow my team around with her child on the side so she could complain they were getting her kid wet. It's a pool; either you get wet or don't go in. When my players went to the hot tub she followed them there so they went to the pool then she followed them there. She visited the manager two other times and the manager talked with us about what she was saying and noted that we weren't doing anything wrong. The straw that broke the camel's back was that when this 'Karen' took pictures/video of my players without their parent's consent so I reported her. The manager couldn't locate the lady so we could verify the removal of the pictures/videos on her phone so we called the police to report the incident. The following day, the lady showed up to breakfast and the parents of the kids called the police to follow-up on the incident. The lady was very confrontational while the police and the manager handled the situation very very well.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel for a stay solely based on the how the manager welcomed us and handled the 'Karen' in the above situation. If there is a negative review about how splashing in the pool and the manager, don't take that to heart because the hotel is wonder as well as the staff!

Quick easy check in. The room was very comfortable. I slept great. It's a big parking lot for my box truck so that was awesome. The pool was nice and the hot tub looked great. Thank you, thank you thank you they have a breakfast, and a cappuccino coffee bar.

We brought our small dogs along so we stayed here because they stay free. The hotel had a makeover and is so nice. The room was clean, bed was nice and firm, plenty of pills, clean bathroom, coffee in-room, mini fridge and microwave. There was enough room in king room to set up pet area. We brought our dog steps so that was helpful. The breakfast was a typical hotel spread but with sausage gravy and eggs too. Staff was very friendly, coffee available in lobby 24/7. Nice pool and hot tub indoors with a gym area. There was enough grass area to walk the dogs, plenty of parking, great location. I have a pet allergy and the hotel was so nice and clean. I recommend this hotel.

We were staying at Best Western and needed our laundry done. We were told that we had to use the laundry room at La Quinta. We walked over and asked how late the laundry room was open. To our knowledge it was only open for another 30 more min. There was this really nice lady (she worked the front desk at la quinta) named Maria that offered to do our laundry for us! She ended up folding and hanging the shirts and bringing them over to our hotel. She is the best!!!

Easy to see from highway when driving from airport or at night. Business center area had printer with ink for work documents. Microwave and fridge in rooms. Gym accessible. Pillows were soft, bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean, staff were helpful. Free quick bites breakfast. All you need solo or Great for a quick business trip.

Always a great stay at this property very clean hotel and staff is very friendly rooms are updated and also clean . A good breakfast bar with a nice choices for breakfast!

Excellent hotel! I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel! The bathrooms, the room, the hallway, the breakfast… Everything was immaculate. It was so clean. I felt like I could walk around with bare feet in my room! Customer service was excellent as well for check-in and checkout very friendly staff running the hotel. For breakfast they had the typical fare, but there was also a bowl of fresh cut fruit with strawberries and cantaloupe and watermelon and I’ve never really seen that at other places and I was quite impressed. That was a really nice touch if I ever drive through this town again I will definitely be staying here.

We have stayed at this hotel before when we are traveling across country. This is one of the best La Quinta's we have stayed at. The owners do an excellent job keeping the hotel clean and up to date. The beds, sheets and pillows are very nice. The person that prepares breakfast makes sure that you get everything you need and it's hot and fresh. Also the flowers and decorations for each season are a beautiful touch. We will stay with you again!

What a great hotel! From check-in to check-out, we had a fantastic experience. The staff was very friendly, our room was extremely clean, the swimming pool was great (though maybe a tad cold lol), and the breakfast was perfect. You can tell they really care because they even decorated the lobby with all kinds of Halloween decor, w/ little candy treats for the kids! 🙂

For the price, you honestly can't beat it. And it's within walking distance of El Rodeo. What more can you ask for!?

Best La Quinta I’ve ever stayed at. Amazing breakfast, very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms with updated features. Our dog stayed free and was given a welcome packet of treats. Will make this my must-stay when traveling cross country.

My boyfriend and I spent one night in the pet friendly room and it was pretty great for our two cats. Under the bed was blocked so they could not get underneath and it was also nice that there was no carpet in the room. Service was very friendly and the room was very clean. I think the only things we found wrong was the outside light on the first floor shining directly into the window, so the curtains needed to be closed at night. The bathroom was also a little small, but that is okay. Great place to stay overall!

This place is amazing, it’s pet friendly, and unlike other hotels they don’t charge a pet fee as long as the animal is less than 50lb max of 2 pets, the breakfast was delicious, best coffee I have tried in a long. I really recommend this place

Lit parking lot. Lovely pool, hot tub, and even better an outside patio with lots of comfortable seating, grill available, outdoor television.
Breakfast was very impressive. There wasn’t anything I can think of that could have possibly been missing. 24hr coffee/cappuccino which is VERY nice for those extra early mornings. Ice machines conveniently located on each floor.

I loved it here! Check in was a breeze, we decided to stay an extra night so they made sure we had a room in little time! We enjoyed the showers! That was probably one of my favorite parts! 😍 the pool was excellent and they had beautiful flowers all around the building. We will definitely be staying here again in the near future.

This is the first ever review for me and I can’t say enough about this place! Very clean! Helpful staff! Excellent breakfast with FRESH fruit! Comfy beds! Big screen TV! Warm pool and hot tub! We will definitely be staying here again. Beautiful place!

If you need a hotel in the West Des Moines area go with this one! Extremely clean, friendly helpful staff, family friendly, great location, and completely updated. We loved the outdoor tv you could see from the pool and the mini pancake maker was a hit with the Grandchildren. Planning to make this our base from now on when we are in town to visit.
