Heart of the Lakes - Lake District Cottages

We visit the Lake District twice a year. Up to finding Heart of the lakes we use to book with different companies. We found Heart of the Lakes 11 years ago and have not looked at another company to book our holiday cottages since.
Staff extremely helpful and friendly nothing too much trouble.
We have only had two problems while staying in the last 11 years and both were sorted that day.
The cottages have always been clean, well equipped and very comfortable.

All makes for a very happy holidays

This was my 2nd booking with Heart Of The Lakes as we were pleased with the simplicity of it last year! The staff are really friendly and the offices are welcoming when you enter. The staff are very knowledgeable about the properties you are interested in and as we were there were allowed to go to view a property before booking. Which we did! Picking the keys up on arrival day is straightforward and very easy and dropping them off is the same. We had no issues with the property so never needed to bother the staff for a week. Fantastic and booked again for next year! Thanks Again

First time I have ever been self catering (usually do B&B). Heart of the Lakes office and staff very helpful from the start. Quick to respond to emails. On arrival at the Ambleside office, key collection very straightforward and the ladies in the office very friendly and welcoming. Had a nice chat and very helpful with information. We had no problems at all with the property so did not need to call upon them for anything during our stay but, being open on Sunday and Bank Holidays, I feel we would have probably got a quick response. Will definitely be staying with them again (soon I hope!).

We always use Heart of The Lakes when booking our accommodation in the Lakes, and have done since the first time we visited 7 years ago. The staff are friendly and helpful, the cottages we have stayed in have all been absolutely lovely and very well maintained. Any issues we have come across along the way have been resolved very quickly and the booking process is very quick and easy. We have recommended Heart of The Lakes to many people and we have even put them down as our recommended accommodation provider for our wedding guests as we're getting married in the Lakes this year.

I have been dealing with Heart of the Lakes for the past 11 years, booking accommodation in the Lake District for my wife and myself, mostly in Romney Grange. I have always found their team at Fisherbeck Mill to be very pleasant and accommodating. At the same time they have always been very efficient, reliable and accurate in carrying out their transactions. In the office when collecting or returning keys, I have found that the staff is again very welcoming and pleasant to deal with. In all I have absolutely no complaints about how I have been treated in my annual contact with all at Heart of the Lakes. Hopefully my association with them will continue for a long time

Absolutely stunning in any aspect you care to mention! A high spec, immaculately designed property. Owners are helpfulness itself and the walks from the house meant we ditched the car for most of the week. A perfect place to relax.

We have stayed in Ambleside using Heart of the Lakes three times now. The website is easy to use and book with, and the office staff are friendly and helpful. This Easter was the first time with the children and the property we chose in Ambleside - The Gables - was perfect - exceedingly well equipped and clean with a great position and amazing views from the windows. Double thumbs up from the kids (and adults) and we will be booking again next year - hopefully the same property as we were so impressed. And it didn't rain, honest!

Second time I have booked with Heart of the Lakes and would highly recommend them if you are looking for a property in the Lakes. Easy to book on-line (or you can phone them if you prefer) and they emailed with address and entry instructions beforehand. Couldn't be any easier.

Had a lovely week weather wise and we stayed at The Crows Nest property in Bo'ness in a very central location. The 3 storey house was beautiful with a superb views of Lake Windermere from the upstairs balcony. The decor and cleanliness and facilities were excellent and the owners had thought of everything you might need after being out and about. Dog friendly too which was a must for me. The property had space for parking for 2 cars and you really don't need to use your car while you are there as you can walk lots from the front door.

Plenty of places to eat and drink just a few minutes walk away so no need to cook if you don't want to. All in all a fab place to stay and will be back in 2019!

First time using Heart of the Lakes, I was very satisfied - with the choice and variety of properties, the ease of using the website, booking, and value.
Our property in Ambleside matched our expectations. We had one small maintenance issue during our stay which was very promptly attended to. Helpful staff.

We have used Heart of the Lakes for about 10 years and have always found them to be professional and efficient. The website provides detailed information and photo’s of all properties. Bookings have been quickly confirmed and further information relayed when expected. The office team are welcoming and friendly and have answered any email enquiries within 24 hours.We have stayed in several properties which have all been very good but have used Wendin Cottage for the past 5 years. It ticks all the boxes for us, is spotlessly clean, cosy, well equipped and particularly cared for by its owners who regularly update and refurbish the property. We especially like the fact that Heart of the Lakes is a local company that knows its properties. We have had no hesitation in recommending them to other friends.

We had a lovely week in an Ambleside flat managed by HOTL which was super clean, cosy, well stocked and in great quiet location.
We picked up / dropped off keys at the office also visited / rang to report a couple of issues that were dealt with swiftly without any bother.
All staff members that we met were very welcoming. professional and responsive and we'd deffo book again through this company thank you x

We have been staying in Ambleside for many years and always stay at Heart of the Lakes properties in the village as we love the central location. For the past few years we select to stay at Peggy Hill Cottage as it is ideally positioned for our needs and also perfect for staying with friends or family. Our experience with Heart of the Lakes has always been a positive one. The prompt response from the Ambleside office, friendly and helpful service and high standards of cleanliness and facilities within the properties they maintain all contribute to making our bookings and stays effortless and efficient and we will continue to book all our Lake District Holidays with The Heart of the Lakes in the future.

First time we have used Heart of the lakes to book our holiday in Windermere. Found staff friendly helpful and very easy to book. Took no time at all to book, conformation was sent within half hour.

We have stayed in Heart of the Lakes cottages for many years and have been impressed with the standard of the properties. They have always been comfortable, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. Any minor issues we have ever had have always been dealt with promptly by the office staff and maintenace team.

We have booked through 'Heart of the lakes' on many occasions over the years and have always found them to be very friendly but most of all very efficient.Any problems we have had, and we have not had many in the cottages we booked through 'heart of the lakes' was always dealt with quickly, politely and efficiently. they are the first company we look at when planning a stay in the beautiful lake district.

We've rented a few times from Heart of the Lakes. One time the boiler packed up and this was repaired as soon as they could and were keen to reimburse us for the inconvenience. This last time the day before I was due to arrive, I got snowed in here and the trains stopped running because of the snow drifts. Heart of the Lakes were very helpful, giving me options. In the end they delayed my stay until the following Thursday and changed the dates without any fuss or charge. We'll definitely use them again. I recommend them to anyone wanting a nice place in the Lakes.

Very pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful staff when we phoned the Ambleside office to arrange a booking. We have been visiting Grasmere for the last 13 years & originally stayed in hotels but we like the freedom of self catering. We stayed at Holmdale in Grasmere. Another excellent week in Fellside Cottage Ambleside. The staff in the office provide excellent customer service, with extensive knowledge of the properties and local area. Will definitely be returning and would not hesitate to recommend Heart of the Lakes to other holidaymakers.

We stayed at rustic cottage in bowness and what a clean, loverly place to stay we thouroughly recommend everyone to come and sample this little gem in the lake district. You'll be very happy in the centre of town with all the amenities you can wish for. You would be crazy not to stop in such a wonderful part of the world. My father-in law said to me, I've been to many places abroad, but the scenery in the lake district beats them All. And bowness is no exception. Mr and Mrs Robin Evans.
