This store is the best in the area! They have everything you could possibly need for hockey. They even can profile your hockey skates on their state of the art sharper. I always stop in when in town and make a purchase. Don’t miss out on this great store.

Stopped down last weekend when we were in town for a baseball tournament, needed some emergency work done on my sons skates since he grew out of the others just before his tryouts the following Monday. They got his skates baked, blades profiled and sharpened in no time and he was able to try out and make the team he was hoping for! Great friendly staff! Truly amazing place thanks again!

Best customer service!!! I have ordered 2 sets of custom goalie gear with no issues with the staff providing updates from the manufacture. Called today with a skate issue for my son and staff went above and beyond finding the part I needed and shipping it out to my son who is playing junior hockey.

Very helpful staff. Hit or miss on how busy the store is. Sometimes you have to wait a bit while they are working with another customer. If you are in a hurry or impatient, call first.

We purchased a pair of figure skates for my daughter (her first pair). They got her fitted for skates and guards and answered all of my many questions. Everyone was lovely and super knowledgeable. Thanks, guys!

We drove from Cedar Rapids to get to JT Slapshot Hockey Shop (about 2 hours) and I am so glad we did! Huge selection of awesome gear, lots of variety, and the staff was the icing on the cake.

As a mom new to hockey, I was a little over my head, but a sales associate came right over and helped us. Scanned my son's foot size (cool machine) and then got us some skates to try on. Then we went and got a helmet which he grabbed the correct size for us right away and checked to make sure it fit. Showed us how to adjust the straps. The whole process was so smooth, I went ahead and got gloves, a hockey stick, a street ball, and wrapping tape. He helped us with all of it and explained a lot of things, in a matter of 15 minutes. They even cut our hockey stick down and wrapped it for us for our first time.

It's a far drive for us, but I will go back there to get the rest of our hockey needs from now on. Great service!

Great selection of just about everything at all price points. They do have a goalie or two on staff to help with properly sizing and fitting goalies.

Well is it time to hit the Gym or maybe time to try Hockey ? JT’s owner Justin has all the professional hockey gear. Roller hockey is growing , skate south as well as Merle Hay skate west has leagues. Come bring your kids to JT’s for all the gear

This shop is AWESOME! I personally know the owner and he loves and cares about the sport as well as the people who play it. The shop is well stocked and they have a price match guarantee if you find a better deal elsewhere. Online shopping is quick and so is the delivery! Though hockey is a winter sport, JT's Slapshot Hockey Shop is open year round.

Been here a few times for random jerseys or sticks. Always end up spending more than I expect because they always have something really awesome just hanging out. Inventory for equipment and memorabilia is outstanding. Always have a great experience in store and enjoy talking to the staff about hockey or any questions. Recommend them to anyone already playing or interested in playing hockey, the staff will get you exactly what you need and you'll leave happy and excited loving your new gear.

I originally gave this retailer three stars, but I'm genuinely pleased to upgrade it to five stars. My first visit, it appeared that they stocked little to nothing of the beginner to mid range equipment, (a practice by some retailers in monopoly situations to force customers to buy only expensive gear) but that seems to have been a temporary inventory issue. Today's visit showed me a much wider selection than I would have expected from even larger stores, with a further array of clearance gear very aggressively priced.

Two other factors that need to be mentioned: the extremely professional and helpful staff (consistent with my last visit, to be fair) and the store's support for community endeavors like the Ames Hockey Girls Clinic. The store has a privileged position in the region, but instead of exploiting it unethically, seems to consider it a responsibility, to its absolute credit.

Absolutely fantastic place to get all of your hockey gear and accessories. The staff is wonderful in every respect. They are kind, courteous, greet you when you come in the door, and provide excellent customer service. We make it a point to come here when we are in town for hockey tournaments as we live in Cedar Rapids. Keep up the great work guys!!

Great selection and prices. They always greet us at the door, ask if we need any help and are happy to answer our questions. We've purchased a good deal of equipment from them over the last few years and they keep it all on file. This is really helpful with growing hockey players. They have always taken the time to get us into the right fit at a good price.

JT’s is the place for all things hockey equipment (and lacrosse) in the DSM area. The new store location is much bigger than the last one and it’s obvious that the change was needed. Always helpful staff and as hockey season rolls around we often find ourselves at JT’s. Plenty of options to choose from and they are usually pretty well stocked. We will miss the previous/smaller store a bit for nostalgia reasons, but the new store is a sign that hockey is growing in the area and that’s a good thing to see.

Best hockey shop ever! My husband has been playing hockey since he could walk and I'm new and going to learn to play. They were extremely helpful and the service couldn't have been better. Plus we are huge fans of supporting local businesses even if they are almost 3 hours away. No more ordering online from hockey warehouses with no personalized service. From now on JT's will be our go to hockey equipment shop!
