This is a fantastic shop on the embarcadero in the ferry building. I love to pop in here when traveling in and out because you can pick up a lot of unique local ingredients to bring back for yourself for gifts. But they also have great things to pick up for lunch and personally for having on the plane.

Lovely store and delicious food. Note that they make the food from scratch so it does take some time to get your order. I had the La Maradona empanada and it was great.

I stopped for lunch in this place and it was awesome. The staff was so nice and friendly. I had a truffle grilled sandwich that was amazing and they had place to sit which was great. The store attached to it is nice, too. If you are in the ferry building, I highly recommend to stop here.

Ask any foodie where do they go for new ideas (besides Instagram), and more often than not you will hear of the Epicurean Trader.

I love this location at the Ferry building. I can bike to it and watch the ferries leave for their destinations across the beautiful bay, and then head into this Mecca of all things artisanal and small batch, without insane price markups.

On my recent trip, I discovered some amazing local spices from Spice Tribe. My new goto favorite is called California Love, a blend of Chile and spices, possibly the best taco blend ever, even better than the blend I used to whip up after 2 days of toasting, roasting, blending and clumsily dropping all over the floor.

I also like their selection of olive oils, chocolates, baked goods, craft beer (Pliny??) and all things cheese, spirits and gourmet. You are guaranteed to find obscure items that you will never find in a Costco, Safeway or any big box grocery store (yes that includes you as well Whole Foods).

While the Ferry building gets its fair share of tourists looking for gifts and trinkets and can get busy, ET has other locations in SF that sometimes have unique products (I like the Bernal location on Cortland).

Tip: Open all 7 days/week, but weekends can get busy.
Park your bike by the racks outside. And depending on your mood for coffee or alcohol, try their Espresso or Wine Bar.

Live visiting the San Francisco Ferry Building and this is one of my favorite shops

Tasty salami panini and in general would recommend warm and tasty panini here or baguette sandwiches. Good service and coffee. Love it for a fast meal.

I go by the ferry building on my commute and this is a great place to grab some last minute quality items. Love their olive oil refill options.

Great spot while passing through to get a quick bite. Delicious bagel with smoked salmon & capers, et al.

This is a really special place that carries both Bay Area specialities and European goodies. You can find great cheeses, coffee, tea, salami, canned seafood, chocolates, and other food. Great place to shop for souvenirs and gifts. Or just treat yourself to something special!

Lots of fun, gourmet items to check out! I could spend quite some time just perusing the shelves. They also have Pimm’s!
