Peaceful. Not too crowded if you visit during weekdays. Might not be ideal for small children due to crowds. Great backdrop for pictures.it’s definitely a must see if you visit San Francisco. When you arrive at the entrance it seems as if the garden will be a quick walk but once you navigate your way inside, you realize the garden is huge and there is so much to see. The tea and snacks were delicious. They have plenty of seating and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

Amazing Oasis in a beautiful park. This is a great place to visit and feel like you were transported right to Japan. It is a very relaxing place for a stroll. The garden is not huge though. It took us about 45 minutes to see the whole garden. They have beautiful water features and a fun bridge to climb up and over. It is a great exemplar of various Japanese garden styles. Admission is $14 for adults although there are discounts for students, children, and San Francisco residents get in for free.

The Drum Bridge in the Japanese Tea Garden is a picturesque highlight, seamlessly integrating with the tranquil landscape. Its arched structure gracefully spans the serene waters, providing visitors with a delightful passage that enhances the overall charm of the garden. As you traverse this iconic bridge on the map, you'll find yourself immersed in the beauty of nature, with carefully curated greenery and the soothing ambiance of the Japanese Tea Garden. This well-crafted bridge not only serves as a functional pathway but also elevates the overall aesthetic experience, making it a must-visit landmark for those exploring the intricate details of this peaceful garden on the map.

Unbelievably beautiful. One of my favorite things we did in SF. It’s not huge but it’s worth it. On a Saturday there were a lot of people but it was manageable and you could still find quiet pockets.

FYI, it can be a little difficult to maneuver with a stroller so i advise leaving it in your vehicle or at the ticketing area which is what the gentleman told me who took our tickets. i didn't have much high expectations but i was truly amazed and at ease when we visited this hidden gem of a garden. it's so big in what seems like such a small area but they have a ton of stuff packed inside. we saw beautiful trees, bridges, japanese buildings and just an overall calming area which seemed very quiet and relaxing even though the rest of the park is extremely busy. i advise you to double check the time that they open and close because we went right before sun down and it was very enjoyable with not too much of a crowd. lastly, i highly suggest ordering some of the tea at the small building near the entrance as it was delicious and piping hot when they served it.

Beautiful place to visit even in the fall. Spring must be gorgeous and probably more crowded. Monday Wednesday and Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 free admission. So you'll be sure I got there then. Easy to take a city bus to. A little cafe also with matcha and some Japanese dishes

Wonderful place here! Beautiful garden with many paths. Lovely water features throughout. Koa fish in the water. An amazing cafe with great tea (of course) and some great snacks to accompany. We got the cookies, and rice ball. Both were good. The tea was nice too! The park has reciprocity with other gardens…we are members of Descanso Gardens, and were admitted without charge here. Parking can get competitive here; we recommend coming at open on a weekday if you can. We did, and had no issue with parking. Friendly staff, and lovely experience. Nice to roam the larger park afterwards!

Very beautiful location and well maintained. Make sure to go early in the morning for easy parking. The place is free on Mondays. We went on a Saturday and got there around 9:00 am. There was plenty of parking. The cafe is super cute and surprisingly not too expensive. There were a couple of spots that were closed for maintenance.

Go here now. Residents get in free. Take the tour, the guides are lovely. Stay for some tea and mochi. Even the gift shop is good. Walk the paths and forget your troubles. You’ll see a lot of trees and ornate architecture.

I had a wonderful walk through the Japanese Tea Garden. I spoke with a gardener, and really enjoyed their knowledge and friendly nature. The grounds were gorgeous! Some of the garden was closed, but you could still see everything, even if you couldn't walk every path. The zen garden was so peaceful. I enjoyed staying there a while. I loved the stone walkways across the pond and I challenged myself with climbing their incredible bridge. The gift shop was small and packed with lovely ceramic goodies! I bought the garden pass for $28 and it granted admission to the Tea Garden, the Botanical Garden and the Conservatory of flowers. It was good for three days! I'd highly suggest purchasing entry that way, especially if you like garden walks. I spent two hours here, even though it isn't a huge garden. If you are only here for 5 minutes you didn't appreciate your visit, and that's on you.

Visiting the Japanese Tea Garden in SFO was an exquisite experience! The serene atmosphere, stunning landscapes, and authentic tea served made it a serene escape. The bridge, koi ponds, and meticulously maintained greenery transported me to another world. A must-visit spot for anyone seeking tranquility amidst bustling city life!

Was a peaceful morning visit. There's a cute restaurant in the middle of the garden. Would recommend having their steaming matcha while staring into the pond.

(No ticket needed if you come between 9-10 so my online purchase was wasted. Wish they had stated those on the website though!)

A beautiful and a very calm garden. Some parts of the garden was closed off. It takes about 30 minutes to get through the park. We went on a Thursday. Not super crowded. My family loved the Koi fish pond. So pretty

TLDR: feee for everyone in the first hour of opening, free for SF residents

This beautiful Japanese tea garden is small but it is amazing. The tour guide Don led a great hour long tour that was so informational and fun. We also had some of the food at the tea garden and the prices are very reasonable. The chicken karage was $6.50, the sencha for 2 people was $5.50 and the mochi balls were 2 for $4.50 and were great! I would definitely come back again

Decided to go on a whim after we realized we didn't have enough time for the bigger museums.

It's a nice idyllic stroll of about an hour or two. Was very crowded on Martin Luther King Jr day. Had to park a bit far away in another part of the park.

Beautiful, tranquil spot in San Francisco. Beautifully preserved Japanese structure, bridges and plants. Just a part of a big open space called Golden Gate. Tourists need to pay ticket to enter. There is a restroom facility as well as a tea house where you can buy snacks, coffee, and light lunch.

I'm a huge fan of Japanese gardens and this one is the best you'll find outside of Japan! Plus it's across the street from where they filmed Full House so you'll get to tour two great spits in one stop.

Expensive entrance fee but worth it. It's small, some areas are under "maintenance or closed out permanently "but beautiful. Centrated "tea" shop area inside. Limited gift shop but nice little things to buy to remember.

Beautiful oasis of calm in an already lovely park area. The gardens were very picturesque. The tea house food was very tasty and a good end to the experience.
