A great place to explore biodiversity. The aquarium has a unique collection and its underwater displays are amazing. The butterfly dome is filled with interesting species as well. The habitat is humid and well maintained. Watching the white Alligator move is a must. Overall the building is well organized and filled with interesting fun facts.

This was undoubtedly a highlight of my trip to SF! The museum's stunning architecture, fantastic exhibits, interactive displays, unique programs, and intriguing stories completely captivated me. What I particularly loved was the lively atmosphere created by the many children enjoying the exhibits, adding a dynamic vibe to the museum. My time spent here was incredibly valuable.

Each science museum has its own unique character, which is why it's worth visiting different ones in various cities. Even if you're not typically a museum-goer, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You might just be pleasantly surprised!

First-time visitor and I was taken back by the beauty of this place. As you can see by the pictures I've posted, it has so many activities and events. The rainforest walk through is amazing. You are able to interact with many kinds of butterflies, birds, and fish from the Amazon. Just amazing and definitely a must do.

Very beautiful place with lots to do! We took our 1 year old and we all enjoyed it. They have an aquarium, rainforest, earthquake simulator, fossils, playground, cafe, nursing room, and much more. Lots of learning everywhere and beautiful place overall. Definitely recommend for all ages.

Very cool place. So much to see. Cool interactive exhibits. Food was expensive, but was pretty good. Went on a weekday and the crowds were minimal. The planetarium show is amazing, on busy days you need a reservation for it.

Do reserve upto 5 hours of your time for this marvelous museum which has an aquarium, planetarium, fossils and a home to insects. Make sure you get the tickets in advance. Very appealing to wildlife and science enthusiasts. Happy to see an albino alligator for the first time.

Such a magical place! My second time going and I still didn’t get to see the forest exhibit. First time seeing the dinosaur exhibit and it was really cool! The academy really shows off the beauty of nature and the awe of science!

We went there for the Thursday Night event to celebrate Lunar New Year. It was a wonderful experience. For my husband, it was the first time at all, for me the first time at night. What a great idea to open the doors to music, drinks an fun - if we weren't married, we'd take dates to here!

A very nice place to spend time in San Francisco.
Rich in marine life, curiosities and an impressive planetarium.
It also has a very reliable tropical vertical nursery.
There are environmental and vegan appeals on some sides, but this is normal for the Californian mentality.
Overall, an excellent place to take the family, children and learn a lot

Very nice place and so much of Interactive exhibits. There is so much to see - African Land, Dinosaur attraction, Living Roof, Aquarium, Planetarium, Rainforest. You would need atleast 4-5 hours to see everything in detail.
We went on a weekend but lucky us there was less crowd than expected and hence we could cover all the places in 3 hours and had a nice break for snacks there (pretty expensive).

Amazing 3 in 1 museum. If you're local, get a membership. The individual tickets add up and you can save a lot of money with a family membership, especially if you have a large family. Get there early enough and you can find free street parking in the park.

We regularly visit Cal Academy every few months as kids love it. The huge reef aquarium, manta rays, swamp fishes and the butterflies in the rainforest besides the immersive planetarium being the highlights of every trip. The pop up activities and talks on penguin feeding, swamp etc are awesome. Great place for the family.

this museum has more than you could ask for and had tons of different stuff to see on each level from live animals, fossils and plenty of other scientific information you could find to read about. my personal highlight was the indoor rainforest with parrots, butterflies and even a gigantic spider which were allowed to roam free within the confines of the bubble. we spent about 2-3 hours here and could've easily doubled that as we did cut a few corners and missed a few exhibits here and there because we were getting hungry and had other things to do. this is going to be a MUST VISIT on our next trip to san francisco as it is a beautiful place to learn about our world around us.

This place is so much fun. Great exhibits. Make sure you sit all the way at the top in the planetarium. The cafe food is ridiculously overpriced and not very good so bring your own drinks and snacks. Save a few dollars by purchasing tickets in advance and get there when they open.

Beautiful venue and the aquariums are so fun to explore.

Went here for the Nightlife event and it was a blast. It starts at 6 PM and lasts for many hours. The planetarium was fun, zooming through the universe. The jungle zone has lots of animals and plants to check out. The DJ music was good, but I was too busy exploring exhibits to pay much attention.

Coming from Texas, this museum honestly puts the museum of science in Houston to shame. I loved the various floors, from the aquarium to the living garden on the top floor. There is so much to see and do here. The dinosaur exhibit has so much information on sauropods. I really enjoyed the aquarium as well on the lower floors, as well as being able to walk and see beauty of nature as you see stingrays or river paths filled with beautiful plant life that lead to the aquarium below. The interactive area on the second floor was a nice touch and was enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and explained any information regarding exhibits very well. I overall loved this museum and can't wait to visit next time to see the rainforest and planetarium.
