Chapter One: Coffee & Tea

Very nice atmosphere with a very good coffee and great service very welcoming stuff highly recommended to visit when you're in town

Chapter One feels more like your friends home than a coffee shop. While other shops specialize in getting drinks out and getting customers out of the door, Chapter One is an inviting space that welcomes everyone and you can't help but want to linger a while to slow down and enjoy your drinks/food.

The baristas are top notch. They are always warm and inviting and its noticeable the effort they take to remember regulars preferences and taking their time with new customers.

The space is ideal for deep work with tables to sit at, or comfortable couches and chairs to lounge in and visit with friends and family. The walls are adorned with local artwork in addition to hosting markets on occasion for local vendors to sell their wares. Management works with local businesses to provide customers with food options, ex: breakfast wraps. The Owner/Manager is always serving up new drink specials with the season. They create a sense of community with their different events from book club meetings, hosting workshops and seminars, raising money for charity and other special events. All this being said, Chapter One fosters a sense of community in this third space.

My partner loves coffee so we just had to stop in while we were on vacation. The barista was absolutely lovely, so personable and kind and great with kids! They even sell loose-leaf tea which I was very excited about. This place is a local must see if you are in the area!

Cute coffee shop with good selection of coffees and snacks. We stopped here on the way driving to Montreal and was the perfect pit stop with coffee, light food, a restroom and wifi

Great coffee, open space. Also dog friendly. Not much food here, mostly muffins and preassembled wraps.

The local happy-go-lucky coffee shop, offering plenty of other alternatives. Beats anywhere in town, excellent location & parking is super easy w/ city lot ~1/2 block away.

Positives for us:
+ allow us to use a clean mug - it's cold here and other big chains stopped allowing - this is much more environmentally friendly
+ strong wifi
+ More seating in rear
+ Gluten free options - a plus for a few family members.

DO NOTE - can get really busy especially when SUNY is in session.

I like it here. Nice atmosphere, i do wish they had a smaller size. Sometimes 12oz is just too much milk for certain drinks. But the coffee itself is very good and everyone is always friendly.

Excellent vibes in downtown Plattsburgh. Very friendly staff, locally sourced ingredients & pastries. Great selection of merchandise and even offerings from local artists!

Wonderful shop serving good tea. I had a couple of cups while working. Also appreciated that I could bring my dogs in...it was so helpful while traveling. I was able to work comfortably. The employees were great!

Staff was so much fun. They were kind and willing to offer suggestions. I had the gingerbread latte and it was so tasty! I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Plattsburgh

Brilliant café with loads of coffee options and freshly baked goods. They have a wide variety of travel books and board games on the walls, dogs are allowed, and they have outdoor seating—what more could you want?!

Fun place, lots going on: crafters, conversation, reading, and etc. They even had board games available to play.
The place was busy but service was fast.
The server recommended a great drink, when asked, Vanilla Bourbon Cold Brew:)

Chapter One is a consistently fantastic experience all the way from their mocha to chai tea. It is my local specialty coffee house and rivals anything you'd get in Montreal or Burlington. The aesthetic is thrifty but clean and the vibes are chill. Plus, there are plenty of free books and games stashed around the shop to dive into while you sip and relax.

One thing I would love for them to add in the future is a 'for here' option; I'd love to be able to drink my mocha from a mug (coffee in ceramic ware just always tastes better to me), but even from a paper cup, their coffee still tastes excellent.

You can't go wrong giving your business here.

Great open atmosphere inside. Also, located right next to a nice little park next to the river, great place to sip your cappuccino.
The prices are average. Service comes with a smile.
