Blue Paddle Bistro

I had an amazingly loaded lobster roll. Easily double the amount of meat for the cost & what you would normally receive at a restaurant. My friend had shrimp scampi that was perfection as well. Pesto aoli with french fries was yummy as well as duck spring rolls! Thoughtful presentation. I greatly appreciate that The Blue Paddle has such a friendly yet classy atmosphere with carefully prepared dishes, while also being relaxed & welcoming to me in my casual attire. Make reservations in advance & you won't be disappointed with this unique Bistro experience. (Being a dog lover is a plus!)

Wonderful dining experience all around! A very local vibe restaurant with an excellent menu. Cute and cozy atmosphere. We had the duck breast, crab cakes and short ribs -- all delicious! Very attentive and kind owner and staff. We really felt like locals for the night being taken care of as if old friends.

Will be back next time we're in the area. Thank you for a great evening!

My boyfriend and I just went to Blue Paddle for the first time despite years of driving by it! It was the best meal I’ve had in Vermont BY FAR! The crab cakes were spectacular along with the lobster linguine! Everything tasted fresh and was so well prepared! Super cute interior as well!! We can’t wait to go back!

Great experience, the owner Mandy made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. She was taking photos of the kids. Which by the way was the greatest part, they made our kids feel welcome and we never felt judged for being the table with three young children. Food was phenomenal, desserts were delicious... Filet was 🔥🔥🔥

Blue Paddle Bistro is what a restaurant should be- outstanding food. The inside is cute but it is not what matters- the food served at Blue Paddle Bistro is what makes people interested in going out for dinner- The old fashion cocktail was perfect. After spending a great deal of time in Maine- lobster rolls are never comparable anywhere else- my lobster roll could have been from Maine. It was unbelievably great. My husbands ribeye was perfectly cooked and delicious. Save room for dessert if you love carrot cake- it is literally the icing on the cake.

Extremely dog friendly. The food is amazing and it is a great atmosphere. If you find yourself in Burlington or on the island make a reservation, it is definitely worth it!

Such a cute place, and the food was great! The restaurant is quite small, perhaps 10 tables and all and we did not have a reservation. They squeezed us in a head of a reservation. And I’m so glad they did while we were there the entire restaurant filled with patrons, and the folks waiting on our table also showed up the food was amazing. We had filet mignon and salmon with asiago risotto deLish!! the wait staff was quite pleasant, and we had a wonderful time. It was a great find.

This is a very cute romantic hide away. Fabulous food I had crab ravioli in a light sherry sauce. Then topped it off with 4 chocolate truffles for dessert. The waitress was very attentive and happy we were there. We both enjoyed it and will be back for more.

Beautiful experience, consistently wonderful food, excellent staff (thank you for a great night, Jess!) And we were lucky enough to enjoy some live music! Blue Paddle never, ever fails, highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing atmosphere and food. All of the seafood tasted so fresh! Service was great as well.

Went here for dinner with my parents as part of our Vermont Vacation on august 26th 2023. We looked at local places near south hero as we were staying in Apple Island Resort which is nearby. What caught my eye was the butternut squash ravoli. We got there as it was a short drive, was immediately greeted at the host stand. The restaurant is basically a little quaint house, with an upstairs and a downstairs. we sat upstairs. Loved the fish and turtle decorations in the room where we sat. The host had a late party that reserved a table, and since they were late, we took their spot. I appreciated that we didn't have to wait, and was served right away. They even said that they don't like to turn customers away, which is a great thing in the food business! Our server was very nice and started all 3 of us with waters. I knew what i wanted, but sadly was disappointed that they were all out of the butternut squash ravoli. They also had 2 other things on their online menu that wasn't on the menu in the restaurant. Maybe just some feedback is if you don't have that menu item anymore, maybe they should update their online menu. Anyways, after a while i decided what i wanted, and ordered the shrimp scampi. My dad and mom got some chicken dish. Food was actually very good, and we all enjoyed it. It is a bit of a small portion place, so we also got dessert. We got the molton Chocolate cake with vanila ice cream, and the apple crisp with vanila ice cream. i didn't taste the apple crisp, but the molton cake was very good! Our server also checked on us alot, and made sure we were happy, and provided drink refills as well. Paid with a credit card, duly note that they don't take discover credit cards, but we were able to pay with another. Left a cash tip, and left with our bellies content. Not sure if we would be back to Vermont again, but this place is a must stop!

Delicious! South Hero is a fun, only slightly out-of-the-way place. The Blue Paddle Bistro converted house seems modest, but the food is fantastic. Great mussels, spring rolls, tacos and dessert. We loved it.

We love Blue Paddle Bistro! We’ve been several times over the years and it never disappoints. The food is delicious and the service is very good. The restaurant itself is charming; perfect for this spot on the island. Highly recommend!

We felt like we were in a movie featuring food! The dishes were the star of the show! Delightful to the senses! And the staff is top notch! Be sure to make reservations in advance to secure a spot!

Wonderful food served in a farmhouse. The chef really creates one of the best menus I've ever seen. My coffee encrusted pork loin with goat cheese mashed potatoes was excellent. This is one bistro you need to save room for dessert! Excellent.

If you get anywhere close to South Hero,VT you must eat at Blue Paddle Bistro. Great food, atmosphere and music! Everyone makes you feel welcome and special while enjoying a fabulous meal. Don’t miss out!

Absolutely delicious! The Cream Of Mushroom soup was the best I've ever had!!!!

We arrived and Mandy greeting us by name. We were a little early so we waited in the front tables listening to nice music by a local musician. When we were escorted to our table our waitress was there immediately with water and menus. Our party ordered a variety of appetizers and main menu items. Everyone was happy with their choices and the food was delicious!! Unique selections like gorgonzola crusted filet, duck spring rolls, and muscles from PEI. Unique setting in a house modified to be a restaurant. Love it and we'll definitely return!

What a gem in the small town of South Hero VT. From the warm welcome by owner Mandy to the craft cocktails and amazing food from Chef Phoebe our experience was perfect start to finish. You don’t want to miss this one!

This was my first visit to the Blue Paddle Bistro. I was very pleasantly surprised! The prices were reasonable, the food was delicious, and we were able to eat outside in the beautiful weather and enjoy the music of the band "She was right."
