We camped for a week and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the beach at the park was closed for a couple of the days we were there but we were able to take the 5 minute drive to Knights Point Beach and got in free because we had paid for the camp site for the week and that allows you to get into any state park for free. We had fires and enjoyed a calm week camping. Highly recommend, we made memories we can cherish forever. 💟

Favorite of all the Vermont State parks we've been to so far even tho it's the oldest, busiest, and has the most run down amenities. Great, great location on Grand Isle. The water access is easy and a beautiful spot on the lake to kayak. Our cabin was the most beat up of all the cabins we've stayed in. There weren't enough bathrooms (often a line) and they were rustic. Although our spot had lake access most sights have a high metal fence blocking the water (which seems very necessary for safety as there's a steep drop, just ugly). Why is it our favorite then? Great swimming beach and the best water area in general for boating or swimming. The location on Grand Isle, 5 min from cute shopping, veggie/fruit stands, restaurants, and cafes. We went to Folino's pop-up stand/bar and got lobster rolls and drinks overlooking the water. I imagine this is not what everyone is looking for when camping but I thoroughly enjoyed having both tranquil wilderness and convenient dining/activities in one. Plus it's 20 min from Burlington. Already booked next year!

Great camping! We were in one of the many lean-to sites, 'Walnut'. We didn't get any flooding when it rained. It had enough room for 2 large tents and we used the lean-to for the dining area. The fire pit was excellent. The water was close and, if there was no one in the 'Boxelder' site, the trip to the bathrooms was quick (otherwise the walk is about 2 minutes by road, not terrible). Most of the sites are shaded but a few are open for groups. The park has cabins to rent also.

Camping here over Labor Day weekend was amazing. My only complaint is a visit from the Park Ranger because we were talking after 10pm but he was very respectful and polite.

Super fun place to stay! We set up a tent, and they had wood and ice to purchase! They had a nice playground, and a beautiful rock beach! Lots of fun little places to discover here! VERY nice bath houses! If you’re tent camping, try to get a spot by the water! You’ll be able to hear the waves softly crashing as you fall asleep and wake up! :)

Always enjoy staying at this State Park! Staff are always pleasant and accommodating. Have been visiting this park since 2015, and it never gets old; kids always have a good time. Water is clear, and plenty of spots to swim at access area or not. Would definitely recommend if you have never been.

We love this State Park. This was our second year tent camping here and we stayed at Site 2 for two nights in June, while friends stayed at Site 1. There's a "road" between these two sites.

We loved the proximity to the bathrooms and playground. 👍

All of the water spigots have been upgraded. 👍

The bathrooms could use an upgrade next. They were clean enough, but quite outdated.

Of note: it's an island in northern Vermont, so it's windy and can be quite chilly. We layered our clothing and made sure to bring cozy sleeping bags and survived just fine in rainy 50 degree weather (for 1 full day), but we also don't like to be hot.

Nearby: drive the 15 minutes to the Island Line Trail Parking area and walk out the rail trail to see Lake Champlain.

We road tripped Canada and the US for 2 months, this was our favourite campsite! Lovely family run place. Peaceful, all sites beside the lake, not over cramped, good facilities, kayak and paddle rental, most beautiful sunsets if you rent a kayak and paddle out, amazing sunrise if you wake up early enough!

This place deserves 5 stars without a second thought. Super easy check in. $20 for a tent site. The entire campground was spotless. We arrived without reservations. There was tons of open sights for a Saturday night. Stayed in other campgrounds that were loud with people, dogs and cars. After 830pm this place seriously shut down. We didn't hear a peep. We will return. This is a gem!

Great park. Clean, grassy sites, nice cabins and good waterfront. We had fun kayaking and were able to leave the boats at the launch. Bathrooms are well maintained. Plenty to see in the area, including the old railroad causeway. The islands have kept an old time feel.

This is a beautiful campground! We stayed two nights while exploring surrounding areas. Our campsite was in the open on a small grassy hill. We had very rainy weather, so it was the perfect. Thankfully we didn't have the muddy conditions some of the other campers endured. From our observations, this campground is best for smaller size campers. The bathrooms were the best we have seen on any of our camping adventures. Bathrooms were clean, supplied with hand soap, and towels. AND the showers were wonderful! Individual showers with hot water, benches, outlets, clothing hooks and mirrors. AND clean! 5 star rating! Thank you, Grand Isle!

Wonderful stay at Grand Isle. The staff was polite and helpful. The showers and restroom were clean and not a far walk from any camp site. But the sunrises in the morning over the lake are why we go back every year! Absolutely stunning! Renting the kayaks were a breeze and the gentleman in the office booth was very helpful to recommend things to do in Stowe. See you again in October!

We followed the biking trail which takes you across all the islands and has beautiful views and little beaches. The trail in itself is quite long though so you can also take the car and drive it.

We stayed 4 nights at Cypress Lean-to. Enjoyed our stay immensely! Staff were polite and helpful. Ice and firewood are cheap. Bathrooms were clean, but could use an update. Shale Beach was OK for swimming if you have water shoes. The rocks are sharp.

We'll be back!

One of the best state parks that I have ever visited. Camping sights are spaced apart well and perfectly maintained. The staff here is always incredibly nice and helpful. It's close to Burlington if you need a little city break. It has an awesome beach for swimming and also a boat launch.

Really nice, clean facilities but has pay showers. Not a great hiking park, more for camping and water sports. Some sites very private and all were very spacious.
