The Rosa Restaurant

Tried this spot for the first time for my son's birthday. The service was very polite and attentive. Food was good from the appetizer to the meals. Worth a stop.

Wow, everything about our experience tonight was fantastic. We didn’t make a reservation (forgot it was a holiday weekend) but got two spots at the bar. The host at the front, I’m pretty sure whom was the manager, was very friendly and throughout the whole night was welcoming to everyone who came through the door. Marc, at the bar, greeted us quickly (despite busy) with menus and acted like he truly cared about putting a solid drink in front of us. He recommended some wine to me and also had my boyfriend taste a vermouth he made from scratch. He seemed very passionate about bartending and mixology. I was entertained though the night with the stories he’d tell us and surrounding guests. Food was just as great as the service. I got the chicken cannelloni and my boyfriend got a ravioli with chicken. Both were superb. Despite a busy night, service and food were above what we expected. Thanks Rosa staff!!! Can’t wait to come back.

It's a great little place. We've been a couple times now. The staff is incredibly friendly, they seem to have interesting specials every time and the atmosphere is classy but not overly so. The food is good and the drinks are the right balance of stiff but not too stiff. Will definitely be back.

Excellent food , service. Hillary was our waitress she was very attentive. Food was delicious and they make their own pasta . Will be back again.. I ordered the eggplant parm

My boyfriend and I stopped in recently for dinner, and it was absolutely wonderful! It’s been really difficult to find great service matched with excellent food recently (since Covid, really) and The Rosa certainly did not disappoint. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for, a bit upscale but still cozy and comfortable (we sat at a high top by the bar). I felt that the pricing was super fair. We got the Italian wedding soup, chicken Marsala and bolognese, with cannoli for dessert; they were all spot on. Thank you for a great experience!!

This is a solid lunch and dinner option. Where there were tiny issues, many other things made up for those. First off, the service was impeccable and incredibly personalized. We were treated like we were important. Whoever trains the staff has the “secret sauce” - a balance of competency, timing and warmth. Not many places have this today. 3 bartenders all on point. This is a differentiator for sure. Attractive restaurant and bar nicely appointed and lit (dim). Rustic decor matched the menu & concept. It all made sense. Open kitchen was a plus. Pizzas looked great, but we opted for other items. Most importantly to start with the food menu is one of the most economical and fairly priced menus I’ve seen in years. We had the minestrone soup and calamari. Both were good. Beans may have been better than pasta in the soup, but no big deal. The soup was a big portion and was nice and fresh. Calamari was good too, but the dipping sauce was lackluster flavor wise. Overall still good. We had 2 pasta & risotto entrees that surprisingly came with salads. We had 1 Caesar and 1 house. A+ - My wife had Ciopinno on risotto and I had Chicken Marsala over pasta. Both excellent. Pasta was homemade & they let you choose. We also had one specialty cocktail each and a beer. It did appear that the drinks were priced at expected levels, bumping up the check but no big deal. Quality and a good value. This place also has a ton of history, as it’s been serving Portsmouth for decades (with a couple of breaks and owner changes). Great causal Italian place, with an exceptional location.

Food was absolutely delicious, portions were generous especially for a reasonable price in Portsmouth. Cocktail selection was elite in my opinion, something for everyone with well balanced ingredients. Atmosphere is very cozy, along with friendly service. Will definitely become a regular spot!

The Roda Restaurant is very clean and well organized restaurant. This place is kids friendly. Very welcoming. The food are delicious and have excellent taste. The price is very reasonable. Our server Alice was AMAZING. So, when she got us the menu, I told her I want her to surprise us with a good dish that have no pork and with medium spic. She did surprise me with new dishes and they were all well done! I was a amazed. Then my 6 year old asked her if he can help her clean up our table and pretend to be a server, and she let him do so. We had a Great time, food, and GREAT memories that will never forget. Parking is limited in that area so we parked far away.

Felt very welcome. Had the the haddock with squash, and Brussel sprouts. Excellent! Server Mark was very attentive and made great drink recommendations. Atmosphere was busy but not noisy. Just an amazingly mellow, warm and pleasant experience. Other staff were also friendly but Mark was outstanding. Will go back when in Portsmouth. Bill was 117.16 for 2 people which included 2 drinks each, main course and dessert.

Staying locally for work, so we grabbed grubhub.

The chicken milanese was excellent. Chicken perfectly done, potatoes perfectly roasted buttered and lightly salted. The fig pizza was excellent. Food was fresh and delicious. Prices and portions are fair! Will definitely recommend to coworkers staying in area

I think I was most impressed with our server, Adriana. She is literally the friendliest, nicest person I have met since being in New England. She is very knowledgeable about the menu. I have some food restrictions and she knew just the right adjustments to dishes so that I was able to eat them. The food was so good that my taste buds were definitely doing the happy food dance.

I had a private event of 20 people at the Rosa to celebrate my wedding. Katrina was so kind and helpful in the planning- having her really took the stress out. Our dinner on the day was fantastic- the food and drinks were great, our servers were wonderful, and the vibes were amazing! All of our guests were impressed and pass along their compliments. Thank you so much to The Rosa for a fantastic dinner. We will be back!

We both had the eggplant Parm with homemade fettuccine that came with a spring salad. It was so delicious I forgot to take picture of my food first before eating it! Our waitress was great and the price was reasonable. Can't wait to go back again 🤩

Great experience! Our waitress Ali was great! Food was phenomenal! I look forward to visiting again! Ordered the veal milanese,arancini,and garlic bread with cheese. The drink was a rosé sangria.

We love Rosa's. The food is always excellent and authentic. Gluten free penne pasta is undetectable from traditional. The house salad will make you ask; "How do they do this?". Atmosphere is so comfortable and inviting. Great service too. Remember if they are busy it's because they are GOOD!

my team mates and I had a great dinner after work.
Everyone was happy with what they ordered from pizza and calzone to chicken and broccoli and veal parmesan with housemade fresh pasta.
Friendly service and prices were decent.

Food was excellent, service was prompt, everything was as ordered. Great Italian food, probably best in area. Prices reasonable. Would go back repeatedly.

This time had the chicken parm and it was also delicious. Wait staff were still excellent. Still highly recommend.

This restaurant was the best Italian in Portsmouth, and in the US. I lived in Florence, Italy recently and have missed the rich, flavorful taste of authentic pasta. The service was beyond my expectations! Will definitely be back soon!

I would recommend The Rosa to all my friends and family! From the ambiance to the homemade pasta you will not be disappointed! The staff were accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure my experience was perfect. I will be going back!!

My husband and I got married last weekend and after several unsuccessful attempts at finding a local restaurant to cater for us, we found that The Rosa did it after dining their on a whim one night. We spoke with the assistant manager after finishing, and I could not recommend their services more. She reached out the week before to get a final count/confirm the order, verified with their chef the amount of good to people ratio was OK. Day of food was picked up from the restaurant, delivered to our venue (still hot, no less!) and minimal was left over. We ordered chicken parm, pasta with red sauce, chicken/broccoli alfredo and house salads. Everyone raved about the food. I would HIGHLY recommend! Thank you so much for all of your help.
