Diversions Puzzles & Games

We visit this store every time we visit NH as we love the variety of games and puzzles. There's an area in the back with tables to play/try out games.

Every time I come here I leave with at least one new game! I wish it were closer, but it's probably a good thing it's not or my bank account would be empty! Always helpful and knowledgeable staff. Tons of options for advanced or new board/card gamers, etc.

This is an amazing store it's so fun I come here to play dungeons and dragons on Mondays it's super fun. They have a great selection of puzzles and games whatever game you're looking for they have it.

This was such a nice store! HUGE selection of jigsaw puzzles and games. Also a place to sit and try some of them before you buy. They also have like every D&D book every published...very easy to spend a lot of money here if you're not careful!

Would recommend Diversions to anyone! My family is really into board games and every time I hear of a new one I want to try, Diversions already has it in stock (or is willing to order it!). I recently called about a game I wanted to get as a Christmas gift, it was out of stock, but the woman who answered my call said she would make sure it was on order and less than a week later, I have the game in hand! They definitely keep up with trends and the staff is incredibly friendly. They've offered me suggestions for games based on other ones my family has enjoyed and have never steered me wrong. Cool store, great selection, friendly staff, and the good feeling of shopping local!

We are so happy to have a local game store in the area so we don't have to buy games from Amazon. There's a lot to like here; they have many of the most popular board games in stock at all times (including a specific wall of "most popular" games. They have some stuff for D&D and the like (though we don't play those so I'm unsure of the depth), as well as a wide variety of puzzles for all ages. There's also some brain-teaser diversions, as well as some card collecting games. I think every person who enjoys gaming can find something to like at Diversions.

There are game tables in the back with copies of lots of games that under non-COVID protocols you can sit back and try stuff out, and they also used to host regular game nights (again, COVID).

They also have a generous and easy to use loyalty program, which is not something you often see from local shops, and it's tiered so the more you spend the greater the discount. Every person we've met in there was also very friendly and willing to help out if needed.

All in all, a great business to have in town.

Such a great store. We stop in every time we’re in Portsmouth. There are great staff recommendations and games of all genres. My son has placed a few special orders and Diversions always gets the item in quickly. I love their puzzle selection, especially the Charlie Harper ones. Always organized. Always clean. Always inspiring.

I attended Diversion's game nights almost weekly for quite a few years. I also tried to attend other events they held throughout the year. I am lucky to have such a great board game store so close by. What's not to like about this place?

Extensive and updated demo games to try out any time for free? Check. Friendly and knowledgeable staff? Check. Welcoming people during game night? Check. Exciting events throughout the year? Check.

I could go on and on but this is by far, one of my favorite places to go. As far as I'm concerned, Diversions is a staple in the seacoast that everyone should at least visit once. Learn about everything they have to offer, whether it is the tons of events they host and collaborate with local businesses, board games for all types of people, or a wide variety of puzzles to suit your needs. Diversions has it all and I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is the best game shop around. I can't help but leave with a new game every single time I go in because they have such fun selections. Not only do they have games, but they have a huge selection for puzzles too. The staff is always super nice and they are very knowledgeable, especially in their suggestions. If you haven't been here you are seriously missing out.

Incredible selection of games (& puzzles!) to buy, just as impressive selection of games to learn from the store library, knowledgeable & friendly staff, and warm & inviting atmosphere. Called Diversions looking for a very specific puzzle (size, subject) for a friend facing a health challenge. Laura responded quickly and found a puzzle that totally fit the bill! Sent it to my friend who was thrilled! Great service!! Would recommend this store without reservation!

Every experience I've ever had at Diversions has been positive. Basil, in particular, is a true gem who always takes the time to make informed recommendations. The staff are friendly and funny, the space is bright and clean, and the selection is varied. They even have a loyalty rewards program. I love this place.

We really love Diversions! We've been coming here for years and love their selection. The downstairs where you can try different games is really great and the staff is fantastic! Best board game store around!

I go into this store whenever I come home from school. Everyone that works there is extremely friendly, and they all care about games as well as the people who play them. The store is dog friendly which helps me get my dog out of bad weather when it sweeps in, or lets me have a day in the sun, and come in and enjoy a card game with friends. Wish I could give a 6/5

Diversions is fun and exceedingly friendly. The atmosphere is cozy, and there are games and puzzles covering every available surface. Employees are more than happy to bring out open copies of a new "European style" board game to playtest in store. There is a broad selection of games, ranging from Monopoly to Ticket to Ride (and all the expansions!) and Smallworld to Agricola. The best part is the weekly game nights where locals and visitors alike are invited to occupy the store for an evening of games. It's a great way to meet people and try out new things. Diversions has got to be my favourite shop in all of Portsmouth!

Great selection and if they don't have what you want, they will try to order it.

Also very nice of them to offer gameplay space for free.
