We went with a party of 8 on Friday night. They had no space for us. And were nice enough to accommodate us. The host told us if we didn’t mind waiting an hour so they could find a spot for us and the did. I’m glad we were able to dine here. We were visiting from Florida. First time here, meeting an old high school friend that lives in the area. And we haven’t stopped talking about how good the food was and have literally told everyone we know that this place has by far the best/ freshest oyster I have ever had! And all the food was top notch! Our server was a Honduran guy from Miami, cannot recall his name but he was very awesome and friendly! We stayed until past closing time talking with our group and nobody ever came to kick us out! Will definitely come back when in the area!!! Very cozy/romantic spot. Loved it!!!

Lovely little seafood restaurant right on the water. Appetizers were amazing the oysters, who doesn't like bacon wrapped scallops, and the escargot was scrumptious although could have used a little more garlic. Main course was haddock which was delightful. A great find.

Went there last summer. The view is spectacular, the waitstaff were very attentive and made some great drink ideas. The baked stuffed lobster IS the best I've ever had from ANY restaurant.
They didn't skimp on the ingredients and didn't add any vegetable fillers as many restaurants do. We didn't care about the price because you get what you pay for.
We ate at the outside deck with an awesome atmosphere.
From entrance to exit, this place was amazing.

On vacation and stayed in our old stopping ground Portsmouth for the week. Ate at the OarHouse and thought the meal and the location were great. Elton, our server was wonderful. I had the Halibut, which I thought was exceptional, and she had the Mac & Lobster, which was just ok. Couldn't find the lobster.
All in all, it was a very nice lunch. I always loved the atmosphere here. So if you're looking, this is the place to go for one lunch or dinner.

It is the second time that I come to that beautiful restaurant. I think it has a spectacular meal and their lobster is very good. I won't stop eating it. I will keep coming back. I completely recommend it. It is very good and their service is spectacular. Their place is in a very touristy and very pleasant place.

The Oar House was incredible. The food came quickly and was really hot and good. The salmon was great. Cooked perfect. The staff was attentive and polite. It was a little crowded, but it was worth the wait. It would be a place I would go back to again and again. Cocktails are amazing as well.

Celebrated my husband‘s birthday on a Monday night when most other places are closed. Had a fantastic dinner with the most gracious service (thank you Elton!) the filet was cooked perfectly (thank you chef) and we especially loved the potatoes au gratin. Highly recommend the martini with blue cheese, olives, and not too dry.

I would recommend the oarhouse to any friend, the food and service are phenomenal. Nick the bartender was great and John our server was so kind and made great recommendations. The food is upscale compared to most of the other docks I’ve been to in Portsmouth and the views are spectacular, I’ll definitely be back soon!

We recently dined at Oarhouse with a group of five, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. We indulged in a delightful array of dishes, including the mouthwatering Haddock, succulent shrimp, and a Lobster Bake that left us craving more. The addition of Crackers fingerling potatoes and carrots added a perfect touch to the meal. The Lobster Mac n Cheese was a true highlight—absolutely to die for.

Our taste buds were further delighted with the incredible Pesto Tortellini and appetizers that included Baked Brie and Lobster Wonton. Each bite was a flavor explosion, showcasing the chef's skill and creativity.

The dessert selection was equally impressive, featuring a killer Creme Brulee, delightful Chocolate Tortellini, and a Bread Pudding with ice cream that left us in awe. The cocktails were fantastic, perfectly complementing the exquisite meal.

Oarhouse exceeded our expectations, providing a culinary journey that will be remembered. The attention to detail, diverse menu, and exceptional service make it a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.

The only thing better than the food and the scenery is the service. I sat on the patio and they had a great one one band.

We found The Oar house while driving around Portsmouth Harbor. Most seating is inside, but they do have an outside waterfront deck across their own parking lot! That's so convenient when parking is hard to come by. It was raining and outdoor seating was closed. Our family got the House Burger with bacon, Linguica Grilled Pizza with linguica sausage, mozzarella, cheddar with marinara and the Oarhouse Delight with broiled shrimp, scallops & haddock in a sherried lobster sauce. All delicious! Our waiter Leon was friendly and helpful, always refilling our drinks and giving us a little history about the place too. Great little place for a rainy day dinner.

I came here by myself during a trip visiting my nephews (who wete at work), had the funky brass monkey drink, fried calamari, and lobster roll -(with fries - i normally dont like thicker ff because they are always undercooked - not here - they were crunchy and cooked perfect!) andall were absolutely delicious !! I mostly appreciated the service of Shauna - most places dont provide great service or pay attention to a person by themselves, but she did (as did everyone else there) and i more than took care of her, as customers should do - from start to finish, everything and everyone was a great experience - highly recommend if your in the area

Awesome place to have lunch in this historic town. The actual building is amazing. You can feel the history in the air. The menu is simply spectacular and extremely approachable. Great refreshing cocktails, if you're able to find seating on the terrace the view is to die for. Ate like a boar and had a great time. Will definitely be coming back during my stay in Portsmouth!!
