State Street Saloon

We ate here the other evening and loved it. It's not big, but the food was good and it had a good vibe. Morgan was our waitress, and she crushed it. She was by herself and did a great job.

State Street Saloon is one of those places that make you feel welcomed. Good food at reasonable prices. Going strong forever in good times and hard times . It defines the true Portsmouth, old school, hard working town that has seen a lot of changes since my parents moved here in 1979.

One of the best nachos I have ever had! Rest of the dishes were excellent as well. Good service.

Your typical bar. Great selection of music. I had to get a lobster roll and it was quite good.

So many things I love about this fun, local watering hole. 1) My favorite local band Freight Train plays here. 2) Good food at reasonable prices. 3) Friendly, efficient staff. 4) Decent drink selection. 5) Great people-watching venue. I always feel comfortable when we visit here.

Always our " go-to" when staying in Portsmouth!! Amazing food w huge portions,great icy cold draft beer,and great bands like Max Sullivan band!!

I had the medium lobster roll, which is 4 ounces. Great price, and the sides were delicious. Hot fresh fries, and a good size portion of coleslaw. Everything was so good and we ate it so fast that I didn’t even have time to take a picture.

They are the home of $6.99 lobster. Their seafood chowder is a bomb. Definitely recommend this place if u are looking for some affordable and tasty lobster rolls! $2 bud every day too

It's a Locals recommendation and could not be happier. Great food/portions and a laid back atmosphere with great TV viewing for all the simultaneous sporting events. Do not judge a book by its cover...

Great local vibe. We both loved the Haddock and seafood chowder.

This place was amazing! We went for dinner after work and it was so good that we went for lunch on the weekend. The staff was extremely helpful to the “out-of-towners” by offering suggestions and explanations. Do yourself a favor and please try the lobster roll and NE Lobster Pie. You will not leave hungry or disappointed.

Pay 20.00 for the same as the River offers for 49.00 & fish and chips for 11.00 as the Gaslight's 19.00 offer, large fried haddock fillet !

A nice friendly waitress, good food, cold beer and an old fashioned cigarette machine. Free parking too !

A great experience and atmosphere - the food is good (although I have yet to try any of their signature plates - which are highly touted), the drinks and prices are even better.

There are plenty of TVs for watching the games, the music is mostly a nineties rock/alternative feel but not overbearing, and the bartenders are very welcoming. From a décor standpoint this is not fancy, nor is it meant to be - the crowd averages 40 and the chatter is lively - it is a great dive bar to have a drama-free evening.

I have already stopped in a few times on my limited stay in Portsmouth.

The free popcorn is the bomb. Bartenders are awesome.

This is a very cool place for a drink and food, great atmosphere, The waitresses were all very nice, it's clean and affordable and gets busy on weekend nights, the lobster rolls are great, Definitely be here quite often!
