Back Door Grill

My friend and I visited Back Door Grill in 2019 and again in 2023. I live in Ontario Canada and she lives 3 hours from Back Door Grill, but it is worth the trip alone for this place! The vibe is a fun mix of winter sport indie with the colourful American Dollar Bills everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable. The burgers are fantastic and go hand in hand with their tall thick as heck milkshakes. Our friend from Kentucky said that they have the best sweet potato fries that she has ever had. We cannot wait to go back each and every time we visit Colorado!

This place has very unique burgers! A lot better than most restaurants in this area. Definitely worth a visit. Space is a little limited but not the flavors.

Despite being absolutely slammed I found a single seat at the bar and was eating in less than 20 minutes.

The bison burger was absolutely fantastic. A little on the warm side but not hot unfortunately. But still good.

Fries were fantastic. There is a three percent surcharge for the kitchen staff and they charged 50 cents for a small container of Buffalo sauce.

Visiting with friends the Back Door Grill is one of their favorite places to eat out at. This eclectic restaurant is right off Main Street and has an upstairs bar, while their main dining area is on the first floor. The first thing that you notice whe walking I the door is all the dollar bills stapled to the walls, and not just the walls but the ceiling as well. Patrons are invited to draw, write messages or color their dollar bill for it then to be stapled wherever you choose and for everyone to see! I love this idea, very reminiscent of what Beau Jo’s did back in the day (although with napkins). We of course made our contribution to the art walls! After we waited for just a couple of minutes, the GM sat us at our table. He was very friendly and made us feel welcome! The restaurant was very busy but didn’t feel like we waited too long and our waitress was super nice and efficient. We started off with some beers and jalapeño poppers, then dove right in to our burgers! I will say it took me awhile to choose a burger not to mention all the other amazing dishes on the menu. So many options to choose from! At the end, I chose the Original Cheeseburger… sometimes you are just in the mood for a really good cheeseburger. Wish we had left room for one of their boozy milkshakes kbut will definitely be back again another time!

Wow. Best vibe and burgers ever. Had the Old Fashioned Cheeseburger. First time in a long time I had a burger that didn’t fall apart in my hands from the soggy. Ate upstairs, where the bar is about twice the size of downstairs, but half as many tables. Plus a super cool bathroom! (Check the pic)

Damn… the food was insane. Would 1000% recommend the Black Mamba 24 burger with Kobe beef and tots. Top 5 I’ve ever had and already want to come back tomorrow after being stuffed. Also they have Espolon tequila on tap and a great selection of beer

Great burger joint. Family friendly - our kids are fries, chicken nuggets and their mozzarella sticks which we're very tasty. Our server was really friendly. The place is cool, it's covered in dollar bills and my kids enjoyed reading them all. The waitress brought them markers and the stapler to color their own bills and add them to the wall. My husband had cheeseburger and it was very good. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. Would return to this place the next time we're I'm Steamboat

Hands-down, the best bison burger that I have ever had. If you want to have your life changed, please choose the Buzz Lightyear special Bison burger with the guacamole & and egg. I had this burger a few months ago and seriously probably think about it on a weekly basis. You cannot go wrong. Highly recommend this restaurant. Get ready to be full after this + fries. I think I even skipped dinner this evening after this lunch. No lie.

Talk about awesome burgers!!! The Dirty Harry is an outstanding burger. Great combo of flavors. The Black Mamba 24 is another outstanding burger. Really, you can't go wrong with any of the burgers on the menu. Service was good and the atmosphere is fun! It is loud inside, but there is outdoor seating if you prefer a more quiet place to eat. This place is a must stop when in Steamboat.

As you can see…this burger was delicious!!! Ate and left no crumbs!! They got our party of 5 seated fairly quickly and the service was great.

It was pretty tightly packed in there, but other than that, I’ll definitely be back when I visit Steamboat.

Amazing quality! The Back Door Grill serves some of the best burgers in the rocky mountains and you will be very happy you tried them out. We split burgers so we could try a classic cheese burger and the big blue burger. Both were absolutely delicious! We also enjoyed the best sweet potato fries I have had in a long time. A great patio to enjoy the food. The staff included very cool dog friendly people working together to exceed high expectations. We take our pack hiking and then want them to enjoy lunchtime with us. The staff was on it while busy and made sure we all had a great time. Thank you!

Ordered food to go after hearing the community rave about how this is the best burger in Colorado. I got the Queso burger which was really good!

The atmosphere is energetic and delightful. The staff gave 110% in customer service, and deserve immense gratitude on top of gratuity for their dedication to caring for us so well. Food was better than the average bar food. Definitely my favorite place to visit when in Steamboat!

Love this place!!!! I thought the donut burger was going to be super heavy and gross but it was actually really good. Crispy fries and great range of burgers with toppings to choose from. Highly recommend. It does get busy the place isn’t huge. Wait staff is always super friendly. There is a side window where you can order to go and now sit inside. Gotten take out and it holds up well in the travel. Highly recommend!

Delicious food and awesome service. We had nachos and bison burger with curly fries, definitely coming back!

Edit to add we came back two more times. We got a classic burger and the hipster, both were excellent. We also tried the grilled cheese and tomato bisque and we were not disappointed. Tomato bisque is made fresh daily in house and you can definitely tell. Each time we visited the staff was kind and accommodating, especially the manager! It was hard to get a drink refill as the staff was so busy but other than that we had a great experience all 3 times! Be ready to wait during peak meal times, it’s worth it though!

The burgers here you unique and incredible! Also, get the Bloody Mary and sweet potato fries!

Omgosh! The burgers and drinks here are phenomenal! And the customer service is awesome! We had a large group and they were able to seat us with no problem. I ordered the Mahalo burger and it was so good. If I could give 10 stars, I would!

Good grill with an interesting theme and good food. All of the interior is decorated with dollar bills that have been drawn on, giving something fun to look at while waiting for food. Speaking of which, I ordered the Holy Spicoli which had a corn dog under the patty. It was good.
