My stay at Hotel de la Monnaie in the heart of the French Quarter was nothing short of exceptional. The hotel suite was immaculately clean and well-maintained, offering all the comforts of home and more. The inclusion of a kitchenette, whirlpool, separate bedroom, and pull-out couch added to the convenience and luxury of the suite. The cleanliness of the room and amenities was truly impressive, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location in the French Quarter was ideal for exploring the vibrant neighborhood and nearby attractions. If you're looking for a clean and comfortable accommodation with all the comforts of home, Hotel de la Monnaie is the perfect choice. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the French Quarter.

2nd stay! Love this hotel and staff. We feel safe here. It is close to everything yet situated in a quiet spot. Every clean. We love the little pool, balconey and court yard.Thank you to the lovely lady who gave me flowers 💐 when we returned to the hotel from dinner. I am sorry I forgot your name it starts with a T and you were wearing beautiful earrings. You made the night even more special.

Perfect location, close enough to all of French Quarter while also being a little bit away from all the loud noise. Service was so nice and helped us at all times. We had a two bedroom and one of the rooms was tiny, but I mean you're not usually in New Orleans to hang out in your room. So much fun!!

Location! Location! Location! We have stayed here on several trips over the years. We usually have several rooms- they are definitely making updates to the hotel. Walk to the French Market, Frenchman Street, the French Quarter. Grab a reserved parking place in the secured garage (make arrangements ahead of time). Have the folks at the front desk make arrangements for tours, enjoy ice water in the lobby when you get back from walking around. Nice to have a mini apartment. Yes, it's dated- we don't mind- it's very affordable and the staff is amazing.

Me and my fiancĂ© stayed here for 2 nights and had a really good time. Yes, it’s outdated but you can’t beat the location and price. Staff were very welcoming. Complimentary water and snacks in the lobby. Parking was extremely easy. I didn’t realize when you booked your stay you can also reserve a spot in the parking garage! We didn’t reserve and still got a spot for the entire weekend. They lock the garage up at night too, which is freaking awesome. No complaints, loved our stay. Thanks ❤

One of my favorite spots on the quiet side of the French Quarter and right onto Frenchman St. The condos have nice deep jacuzzi tubs for the 3 cold baths you need while here, living rooms, a stocked kitchenette, and nice bedrooms with closet. The bed and pillows are comfy. There is a public parking lot right behind the hotel that is $29 a day which is the going rate for parking at any other hotel and its relatively easier to get a spot in off Decatur Street as the parking garage isnt a great fot for larger vehicles. They do have a pool, self laundry mat, a library, and 2nd floor balcony/smoke deck. You are super close to The French Market, Jackson Square, Royal Street, Cafe du Monde, and Landry's Seafood. Great for slipping in and out of the action.

although the room was a bit dated, it suited our needs well. we had a one-bedroom suite and it was so much larger than any other hotel room I've stayed at in New Orleans. bed was fairly comfortable and plenty of pillows. kitchen was small but you could definitely make some meals (check the dresser under the TV for untensils, took me a minute to find a spoon lol).

location is fantastic - literally a 2-minute walk to the French Quarter and right near Frenchmen Street. we were in town for Krewe of Chewbacchus and the route for that was super close as well.

would love to come back when it's warmer to check out the pool, small but cute. surprised it wasn't heated honestly.

the balcony was great to people-watch and drink coffee in the morning or socialize with a glass of wine in the evening.

there's a parking lot just past the hotel on the right if you're going north on Esplanade. I think we paid $28 for 24 hours, which was worth it. saw cars getting towed off the neutral ground the next morning 😬 definitely do not park illegally! I'm sure if we didn't come in late on a Friday, we could have found street parking.

overall, a good value, awesome location, and well provisioned for a longer stay! we will return!

Stayed here over the summer when I was in town with my husband for academic research. We wanted a place close to the Quarter, but with a kitchen so that we could keep food costs down and handle our own food allergies, a difficult task in NOLA. The Hotel de la Monnaie fit the bill perfectly. It's a throwback to the late 80s/early 90s, and each room is a small 1-bedroom apartment since they're timeshares. They all open out to open air balconies inside the hotel, with little places to sit and a wading pool on one floor. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the wifi is quick. And, if you get lucky, there's free parking, which is a huge bonus for us since we drive everywhere due to equipment needs. It's in such a great location, with the French Market a few blocks away and being right off of Frenchman Street where the best jazz clubs in the city are. You are near the railroad tracks, which can be somewhat annoying, but it's nothing sleep headphones or a white noise generator on your phone can't cover up. The water heater is individual to the room, so quick showers are a must if you've got more than 2 people in the room (I think they hold about 30 gallons). There's a library downstairs with loads to read and boardgames, too. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and it was wicked easy for Uber drivers to get to the hotel, too.

Honestly, this is one of the best places to stay for any extended time in the city, and the location cannot be beat if you're interested in the Quarter or the Marigny. Disability friendly and very wheelchair accessible, too. If you need a functional place to work and aren't invested in staying in a historic hotel or a super posh one, this is a bargain. We'll be coming back here many times.

You have to understand one thing about this Hotel. This Hotel is all about character. This Hotel represents what New Orleans is all about. It’s very vintage just like NOLA is. If you looking for something modern or special, you better of go to a modern hotel, but this Hotel is the best to me. I like that Vintage era, and feeling like I belong there to. PLUS when you go to NOLA, the hotels are just to leave your belongings and go out and have fun. You don’t sleep on vacation, you rest!
Walking distance to many places for breakfast and lunch, use the little train or bus to move around and enjoy the view, no need a car unless you going very far away.
So this place is excellent, needs some improvement because of course is an old Hotel (what do you expect?) They should make some renovations but stay with the same vintage theme. Needs new beds and bigger, but overall l, this hotel is very practical to me. I’ll be back soon.

I used Google to double-check the reviews, so it's only fair I leave one as well.

We stayed at the property with a 5-month-old baby, and we were provided with a travel crib. The rooms were clean and nice, with furniture fitting the historic neighborhood. There was a small pool (more for a quick soak than swimming) that you could cool off at, and each room had an exit to a joint balcony with tables and chairs, where you could enjoy your breakfast at, or just chill. The locks on the doors and the property are electronic, and you get access cards when you check in. The hotel is right next to the French Market, and not far away on foot from the main French Quarter plaza. There's also a street car stop right next to it, in case you need to use public transportation (a 1-day pass is only $3, so worth it, even just for the experience of riding an old New Orleans street car).

We booked through Booking.com, and the site said there'd be a $50 damage deposit, then the front-desk lady said it was a fee, non-refundable, but it seems like it wasn't charged? I am a bit confused.

Also, be careful around the pull-out couch, its legs stick out a bit more than it seems and I hit myself on the shin when setting it up.

If we traveled without a baby, I'd probably go for something cheaper and more questionable, but we didn't want to risk anything with a 5-month-old, so this hotel was the best available choice.

Edit: I didn't take any photos but can confirm that the ones already posted are very accurate.

Hotel is much older, and gives you the real New Orleans experience and feels. The pictures are what you see. It’s super clean. No complaints there. We used an Uber/ Lyft 4 times in the 4 day adventure there and two were to and from the airport. Walking distance to everything museums, parks, churches, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Customer Service was amazing, super helpful and fun. Noise, you could here the trains occasionally but nothing to complain as they went by very fast. We will be back for sure with more family!

We are owner's of 2 wks, we bought our 1st wk in 1984, we love it. Within 5 min from the French Market. Dining all around it. You can catch a trolley right across the street and it will take you all the way to the Riverwalk and Casino. The rooms are up to date & very clean, the staff is Amazing. I highly recommend it!

Dated decor, unusual architecture, a couple dozen parking spaces crammed into a basement, and more character than all the big name generic hotels in New Orleans combined. If you want forgettable don’t go to de la Monnaie. If you want a real New Orleans hotel experience with quirky style and nice people, I highly recommend this place. As a semi-local who has stayed at many hotels in and around the French quarter over the years, I have now found my favorite. The location is perfect and the staff was unbelievably helpful. Our last night there we came in at 1am to find our ac thermostat had broken while we were gone, leaving us with an 80 degree room. I let the front desk know and they had a guy replace within 35 minutes of telling them, at 1:35 am! This is what you want. Things in all hotels break. What makes hotel staff great is the way they deal with problems and these guys are pros. I’ll be going back.

This boutique hotel brings charm and convenience. Just a block from the French Market and Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, you are just removed enough to get a reprieve from the fun that is New Orleans but easily jump right back out when you are ready. Each room is slightly different but all carry the beauty of classic New Orleans historic style.
This is a sought after location and it is obvious why, from the staff, ti the location, and finally the cozy feel that makes it truly feel like your home away from home with easy access to fun and history and the street car line.

Decided to celebrate 2 years of my partner and I being together with a surprise trip to New Orleans and we stayed here at this hotel memorial Day weekend. It was absolutely beautiful I really loved that there was free parking however because the drop off location was all filled I ended up going to the parking lot directly behind which is paid parking for my stay which wasn't expensive at all. The hotel room was gorgeous they had a hot plate microwave refrigerator if we were staying longer it would have been perfect we could have just gone up to the local market to grab food and bring it back to cook ourselves to save some money the bed was super comfortable the only issue I had with the room was we couldn't get the whirlpool tub to work but just being able to soak in such a big tub was wonderful and everybody that was staying there was so nice we made so many friends just sitting on the deck talking to people in the early mornings drinking our coffee I know I'm definitely going to stay here again the next time I take a trip to New Orleans. the staff was wonderful and accommodating the other guests were fantastic it's in a great location easy to walk to everything I needed to I never once felt uncomfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel

Very friendly and helpful staff. We love the location with close proximity to the French market, Frenchman street, restaurants and bars. The courtyards are lovely and the balcony is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. The kitchenettes are a nice convenience.

Lovely hotel! The people who work at the desk are so great and friendly. I left a sandal there and they called to tell me and are even mailing it to me! The hospitality is so refreshing and I 100% recommend :)

This place is pretty magical. Located on Esplanade right on the edge of the French Quarter, their balcony lets you enjoy the crowds without being right in the thick of things. I couldn't decide whether I felt like I was staying in an Old World hotel or a cozy home--so comfortable and relaxing! The atriums are lovely and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating! I don't think I had a single thing to complain about during my week-long stay!
