Advanced Surgery Center of San Antonio, LLC

After reading all of the one star reviews of this place I seriously considered rescheduling my surgery at another facility. But after speaking to the manager Laura, she assured me that I would be given the best care, and admitted their billing service was not the best, but they were addressing that. But I can honestly say that every person I encountered starting with receptionist was amazing. It actually made the entire process enjoyable. I also received a follow-up phone call the next business day which I greatly appreciated. I would not hesitate to go back to this surgery center again, But hope to never have to.

The whole team is so amazing, from the receptionists to the nurses and anesthesiologist. I had to go in for a minor procedure on my feet, but as it was my first procedure ever I was extremely nervous. The nurses were so reassuring, never made me feel like a bother, and made the whole experience very pleasant. I had lots of billing questions, and the receptionist was very thorough and provided me all of the information I needed and more, all while mainting a super friendly attitude.
I honestly believe that if it weren't for the amazing staff, this could have been a very traumatizing experience for me, given the level of anxiety I was having. But now I'm much more comfortable with the idea of having to get any procedure done again, and if that happens, I hope I can go here again!

Also, I agree with the review below about Eric! Someone give that man a raise! I was practically in tears right before the procedure, and was in tears right after when I was waking up from anesthesia, and he was SO nice and comforting, didn't make me feel dumb even though my anxieties were unfounded, and was overall very professional and skilled at what he does.

I can only express great things about this facility.
Its cleanliness, comfort and easy to find location is remarkable
But the best of all is the professionalism of its staff.
From the registration personal to its nurses, all so courteous and nice.
Specially, I have a word for a male nurse in holding area, named Eric, a veteran of 30 years, who trained at BAMC initially. He was the one who was able to start an IV to my wife. She has very difficult veins to access.
In the two occasions that she was at the facility, he was the one who we chose.
Very gentle and kind person, which we are glad to individualize , but not in detriment to all others which we also compliment

If you need minor invasive procedures come to this center as per order. Staff is amazingly friendly, confident, swift but cautious and provide extreme TLC to patients. They reassure anyone who may have doubts. Great team who seem to have worked together for a while, therefore providing complete comfort prior to and post procedure. 5+ in my book as a practicing nurse.

I recently had right knee arthroscopy (8/18/16). I can't express the professionalism and top notch care that this facility had to offer. Not only did the nursing staff do an awesome job, my surgeon Dr Andrew Whaley did an awesome job as well. I am looking forward for another surgery on my right knee pretty soon.

Really nice people. Very little parking and the waiting room is crowded.

I went in for a knee replacement surgery. The after care team was in a hurry to get me out of there, even while I was still under anesthesia. The two women kept telling me to get up. Wish I had my husband in the room with me to see this horrific behavior by staff. When I had arthroscopic surgery they weren’t as bad, or I never would have gone back. I’ll be letting my ortho know the treatment I received.

Staff there did great but calling in HORRIBLE! I have to keep calling back to fix the issue. N

Appointment was at 1045. I didn’t get rolled into procedure room til after 3. Staff sat at station and laughed and talked about Starbucks, working out, weddings. Never really came in to check on me. When we asked what was taking so long, the nurse just said “oh well you’re doctor is running a little behind”. A little? Not great teamwork.

I was very disappointed in this facility. The woman who escorted me from the reception area to the back was very rude and had a hateful attitude though I was pleasant with her. Everyone has bad days, but there's no excuse to be unprofessional with patients. They should offer patients the opportunity to fill out paperwork before their appointment to save time. Also, there was dust on the ceiling (unsanitary), and the place had a dark, dingy feel to it. I do NOT recommend this facility.

Very unethical billing. This billing department will not communicate with you. They double dip between the insurance and the patient. If you are having surgery here, I suggest you do not pay up front. Make them bill your insurance first.

Fraudulent billing practices and the office manager refuses to return any phone calls or messages despite her staff saying she will. And she refuses to come out of her office to resolve the issue when I show up in person. They charged us $3000 despite our insurance covering the procedure in full, they have ignored every request to stop killing us and continue to charge our card. Their own billing person expressed her frustration because despite her having the EOB and the payment received she cannot refund the money and the manager will not call her either.

Surgery team was nice but the billing service they use are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! Beware because they will charge you up front for services and if your insurance pays them out they will not refund your money. I have been calling, emailing and leaving messages for an overpayment that they withdrew from my bank account and I still haven't received credit. Its has been a month now that I have been trying to get them to respond. I would think twice about using them for surgery.
