We have stayed at this Hotel a few times now and it is convenient and comfortable! The room was clean and the king size bed gave us a great night's sleep after traveling. The usual amenities were provided, but also included a toothbrush, Toothpaste and a sewing kit. I prefer a smaller hotel so I don't have to walk too far to get to my room and this is perfect. They offer complimentary coffee and continental breakfast in their lobby from 6am to 10am which is perfect before you start your day. We brought our two dogs the first time we came since it is also pet-friendly at The Garrison! This will be our hotel in the future whenever we travel to New Hampshire to visit relatives. Great hotel rates too!

Front desk staff is some of the nicest people ever. Amazing stay. Our room was very clean with all the amenities, front desk area was very clean. There's a nice little store to choose little trinkets and stuff from at the front. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with a wide variety for all to choose from. We will definitely be back.

I made a last minute trip and was able to get a king suite . Room was affordable , clean and perfect for the night. Best part was that even though the hotel was completely booked it was quiet. Hit a great night sleep. Would stay here again

Very nice hotel. Feels very upscale. Close to Madbury which was nice. They allowed us to checkout late which was really nice. They had a lot of complimentary beverages for breakfast! Our hotel room was very spacious. We really enjoyed staying here and the front desk was very friendly. I love the decor in the lobby for fall.

(Note: I write these reviews in part for my own nationwide business clients, for travel inspiration! I’m a financial planner - CFP®practitioner - with a focus on retirement wealth strategies, primarily serving business women and LGBTQ individuals. #VirtualPlanningCraftedWithCare)

This little hidden gem was a surprise find. Our family stayed here for a one night weekend stay during October. The pleasant surprise was that the whole place was decorated for Halloween! The entrance, the lobby and both floors throughout. Pics below.

Rooms: I often ask for an accessible room if they have plenty available (and more and more establishments make these readily available). I was pleased to find that the bathroom was accessible, but they also had a doorbell for visually impaired and lots of space to move around the room. Great for seniors or anyone with extra mobility needs. Room was clean, beds comfortable and I was happy that we could crack open the windows for fresh air.

Breakfast: this was a pleasant surprise too. They have a hot breakfast available with a large selection (as far as an included meal goes). I’m gluten free and was able to have eggs, sausage and fruit. My hubby and kid had toast with various spreads with their eggs. Of note, the entire time someone was on top of keeping the area clean and the food refilled.

Area: large parking lot, adjacent to a Dunkin and a CVS, and right at a highway exit. Super convenient which is why we booked to begin with along with the great reviews.

Cons: I might give the hotel a 4.5 if I could because our one disappointment was the pool. If this is your one reason to book, maybe reconsider. For us, it made an impact but didn’t ruin the stay. The pool area is beautiful and well situated in the middle of the hotel. But the pool water is green and reeks of chlorine, and it was too cold for my child to be able to enjoy it for more than a few mins. No adults braved the cold water. I had higher hopes for this particular feature as my husband loves to swim.

All this said, we very much enjoyed our stay. The staff was super friendly, we felt safe and comfortable. I found the price to be reasonable for we got and the time of year. It’s hard to tell, but I believe this establishment to be LGBTQ friendly and it’s definitely family friendly. Great location for retirees who are visiting the area. This was a good experience for us.

Rooms are clean and neat. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Smoking area is not covered. 24 hour coffee station and small convenience area for snacks. Continental breakfast during the week and more variety on weekends.

Due to some absolutely ludicrous FAA regulations, as well as a series of unfortunate incidents with an airline which I am legally prohibited from naming, I am tragically limited in the amount of my possessions I am able to take with me when I travel. For this trip, my collections of photographs of 1970s and 1980s television personalities had to stay at home.

When making my reservation, I asked for a photo of one of the two of the sexiest stars of the era to be placed in the room: Scott Baio and Bea Arthur. To my great surprise and enjoyment, not only did they provide one photo, they provided delightful, charming, and flattering photos of both!

To state what is by now obvious, the customer service at the Garrison Hotel & Suites is simply unmatched. I will be staying with them every time I am in the greater Dover-Durham area for all of the remaining days of my life.

I stayed at the Garrison for 8 days for work. From Jamie and her colleagues at the front desk, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, to the amazing landscaper I never met but whose beautiful flowers, lively bird-feeders, and hotel-replica handmade birdhouse I admire, this place was a perfect place to spend the week for work. In spite of the hotel apparently being totally full while I was there, and also serving canine guests, my room was **so quiet**. It was amazing. liked it so much I'll be stopping there next weekend (assuming I can get a room for us) on our family road trip next weekend.

Darlene was so welcoming and made the check-in process so easy. She truly is a wonderful face to see every time I stay at the Garrison. Tonia, the GM has the most amazing and well thought out Halloween decorations. I am always excited to see what she adds. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the location is great. Could not recommend this place enough!

So this hotel is overall excellent.

The parking lot is sufficient for its size! We did not have any issue parking late at night.

The location is in a small town that is very charming! And it's is right across a Dunkin and a CVS. Convenient!

The interior is very well kept, throughout the hotel, from the dining area to your room it all looks exceptional.

The decor is modern as expected with AC individualally controlled in rooms.

The mini gym has a good variety of equipment to use and there is a pool!

Breakfast is generally good with various options from cereals to bagels. The menu seems to change which is not a bad thing!

Staff were very good, nice and courteous.

Property is well maintained and rooms are comfortable and clean, although a bit small. Every staff member was exceptionally hospitable and accommodating.

Breakfast options are good including gluten free options, and fresh coffees and teas 24 hr/day.

Darlene is wonderful! She runs the front desk like she owns the place. Always friendly! Tonya the GM’s decorations for Halloween show how much she loves her job. The beds are very comfortable and the location is close to everything. Would recommend

The place was like a tucked away lodge! Quiet surprised! The room was exquisite, clean and well stocked. Staff was so friendly, helped us with sites to see in Portsmouth! The two ladies that were there when we checked we’re absolutely the best! There was a 24/hr fresh coffee/cider bar that was amazing. Breakfast was just perfect with homemade muffins, fresh bagels, waffles, fruit, yogurt….anything you’d need for breakfast on the go… We came from Atlanta, landed in CT. Every place we stayed from the day we started out didn’t come close to the Garrison…. Thanks for a beautiful nights stay. Hopefully I can make it up again someday!

We just got back to the UK after 8 nights at the Garrison. This was our honeymoon trip to see the colours in New England area.
We based ourselves at the Garrison Hotel and day-tripped out from there. It was lovely. The staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. Breakfasts were pleasant. We had a king room with kitchenette area. Perfect for us. Located near all major roads for travelling around, yet quiet. Loved all the halloween decorations. We had a fabulous holiday. Thank you.
