District 42

Holy smokes! What a wonderful bar and extremely knowledgeable bartenders. I wish I could stop there, but Tony and Nick are super friendly and make you feel at home. We tried a lot of cocktail bars in Asheville and kept going back to them for the best cocktails in town. Talk about the utmost of care and service, Kyle, the manager looked out for every need we had. We will go back every time we are in town!

The drinks here were very good and unique. I won’t lie this place is pricey though!

We payed $64 for 2 drinks and some fries.

This bar is beautiful and although it’s a hotel bar it is set apart to give you a full bar experience. The truffle fries here are really good. My wife and I finished them in minutes. The combination of truffle oil and parmesan cheese on these crunch fries was so good. They literally brought my starving wife back to life.

My Obscure Autumn drink was tummy first try at Japanese whisky and it was very good. The drink was boozy yet full of flavor. The drink has figs in it that give it a sweet touch to the whiskey forward drink.

My wife had the blood moon and it was really good as well. If you’re a fan of blood orange this drink will be right up your alley. The combination of mixers come together well for a balance drink that leave you taste buds delighted.

Have to say, our cocktails at District 42 were wonderful, thanks to Matt & Tony...who mixed great cocktails & also introduced us to spirits made in the region. 2 great guys!

I love this place. The place is nicely decorated, it looks like a pricey restaurant but the prices are really good. We tried fried ravioli, so yummy and $19 price. Lively atmosphere and the server Alexandra so kind, fast service. Highly recommend it.

After hiking all afternoon, stopped by District 42 for an evening cocktail. Found that Matt who has been serving in the dining room the other evening was behind the bar. We were treated with masterful cocktails and conversation. The wood smoker used for certain drinks was fascinating. Matt is a true artist and professional and, operated the bar in a friendly but business-like manner. He and the other bartender worked perfectly together, were efficient, and beat. We were greatly impressed and look forward to returning.

Spent Christmas Eve 2024 with family in Asheville and our dinner and cocktails at District 42 were delicious. Amazing pianist, great lighting, very friendly staff. Look forward to visiting again.

I wanted to take a moment to commend Shani and Tony for providing exceptional service during our visit. Their attentiveness and friendliness greatly contributed to our positive experience at your restaurant. We appreciate their dedication to making our time here enjoyable.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed the live music. Two nights we were served by Kelly Adams and she did a fantastic job. Great place to hang out after dark.

The atmosphere at District 42 manages to be both spacious and warm/inviting. Festively decorated for the holidays, the style was something from a magazine. We ordered drinks from the very creative spirits menu and loved the Umbra cocktail. It was the perfect drink for a cold evening. The menu also featured many local brews and wines. Starting with the Mediterranean board - a terrific combination of house-made items such as olives, whipped feta and spiced yogurt - we then ordered salads, both delicious, but the kale was the star. Dinner was two pasta dishes - the Cacio E Pepe and the Mafaldine Ragu - each delicious in their own way, the ragu was so flavorful and unique and each featured house-made pasta.
When you think the food and beverages will be the best part of your evening, know that the service will give the cuisine a run for it's money. From our attentive and knowledgeable server to the front of the house manager who check in during our meal and before we left - District 42 is an excellent place to enjoy an evening.

Wandered in while waiting for our reservation at Curate. Great craft cocktails! Didn’t try the food, but it looked good. The Eternal Sunshine was phenomenal! Manager even gave us complimentary champagne since we just got married a few hours prior.

Staying in the hotel my kiddo and I needed an easy dinner, and this was perfect. Great cocktails, delicious food. We had a carrot salad (full of all kinds of yummy, fresh ingredients) and a margherita pizza (tasty thin crust, high quality sauce and cheese, and perfectly cooked) and they were both excellent. Truly pleasantly surprised with the high quality of the food! The service was friendly and efficient — couldn’t ask for a better experience in a hotel lobby bar. I’d go out of my way to have that pizza again.

We stopped in for cocktails and they did not disappoint! The drink menu is really diverse and the back bar is stocked well.

Matt was AMAZING. Everyone was so welcoming and happy to have conversation. Overall great experience!!

Dined here while staying at the hotel. Excellent ambience and very clean. The menu had so many wonderful things listed and we couldn’t choose just one, so we didn’t 😀 We sampled several things from small plates to entrees all the way through to dessert. Everything was delicious and presented in style. I was particularly impressed with the Mediterranean Board. We have traveled to the Med. many times and District 42 definitely delivered on those flavors! Will definitely be dining here again whenever we are in Asheville!

Great atmosphere, drink menu is perfect and the staff is top notch. Hope was our server tonight and she was wonderful!

Amazing cocktails, great food (very vegetarian friendly), and wonderful service. I wish all hotels could have restaurants and bars that were this good. Their rotation of seasonal cocktails keeps me trying new stuff and is a lot of fun. I visit from out of town fairly regularly and I always look forward to drinking and dining here.

Ducked in for dinner our first night staying at the hotel of which District 42 is a part, after a late-night arrival, not expecting much. Extraordinary dinner, with perfectly prepared, imaginative and original entrees, vegetable sides and cocktails. Among the better restaurants in this food-centric city!

This bar is so awesome! Great staff and wonderful craft cocktails to enjoy with fantastic small plates. The hummus with roasted mushrooms and house made pita is so good. Everything is fresh, high quality and delicious. The Korean wings are crispy, spicy and addictive.

We had the best night here!! Donovan and Toni were amazing, anyone would be lucky to have this level of service. We were celebrating a friends upcoming wedding and they couldn’t have it made it a more special night!

Really nice upscale bar in the hotel lobby. Bartender was courteous, attentive, and made great recommendations. Fairly priced with good drinks and service, I would recommend this place to anybody who's looking for a casual to upscale to grab a drink in downtown Asheville
