Horsford Ponds Parking Area & Trailhead

Great mountain biking and hiking trails. Plenty of parking. Favorite MTB trails in the greater Boston area, very technical riding and well designed trails. Lots of rock and natural features.

Nice place to play softball

Cool spot where to park your car and go hiking biking whatever.
There a bunch of lamp above the lot so it seems even in winter is fairly safe.

A sign advises to watch out for coyotes.
The pond itself doesnt look that great at least in cold weather

The parking area is large enough but the way in and out is in pretty rough shape. The way in you can manage with a car, just go slow and navigate around the worst pits. Don't try the first fork to the right as you exit, which would be the obvious way to leave if you intended heading east. The heaves and depressions in the tar are too much for a low-riding vehicle. Just be careful nobody is entering as you leave, and exit via the same route you entered or you'll risk doing some real damage.

The park itself is a nice ramble, it has lots of little side trails that aren't marked to keep the interest-level up.

Great for Mt biking,dog walking or just a friendly stroll.

It was very muddy on parking lot and trails were very wet and snow covered.

The parking area is muddy and not very large, but is just a couple of hundred feet from a large well paved parking area at the playing field. The forest is large and very good for hiking but the trails are poorly marked so a map or app is essential to avoid getting lost.
