Mountain Sunrise Café

I enjoy going to this quiet little cafe. I've only had breakfast there (served all day!), but the eggs are always done just right. My husband had lunch and found his Reuben to be quite recommendable.

Very good experience. The building is a cute purple house. The waitress and cook were both very friendly. They accommodated our vegetarian preferences and the food was tasty.

I got exactly what I needed! It made me so happy to sit on the porch of a purple building on the first bearable day after a heat wave. There were lots of plants and shade and not a lot of street traffic, so it was really calming. I greatly enjoyed my omelet and some of my dining companion’s pancakes 😊 I recommend those!

some other reviews have negative comments about the food and drink. I found that I got what I expected — it’s a small local diner, not a Michelin star restaurant. It was casual, timely, friendly, and the food was inexpensive. Thank you!

Great restaurant!! I was stopping by North Carolina with my family, and we decided to go here. The french toast was dry, but I still couldn’t put my fork down, unless I was eating the bacon. The pancakes were fluffy and the hash browns and bacon were cooked perfectly. The service was great, and the atmosphere was friendly. Overall, 100% recommend!!!!

The French toast was amazing!! The service was great and very friendly. very good place for the price for what you get. Its very well worth your visit. Edit: been while coming here now the food is still amazing! Phillip and his family are always friendly when we come in. My boyfriend love the biscuits and gravy its some of the best we've had.

The ugly: We beat the rush but some folks waited a LOOOOONG time for food.

Our timing on Sunday morning was great - no waiting to be seated. We ordered coffee and they made a fresh pot for us. Nice touch. We ate outside since it was such a nice fall morning.

Our server was very personable and very accurate with the order. He was a one man show for basically everything, including the mob that rolled in just after we sat down but he hustled and did everything he could.

The food was simple yet spot on. We had the standard fare - eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, toast, etc. Everything was just as we wanted it.

Highly recommended but if there's a big crowd, it might be slow. This is a wonderful little hole-in-the-wall gem of a find.

Best hamburger ever! Cooked to order, well done, and the bun was lightly toasted and decked out with all the fixings. The cook did an awesome job as well as the waitresses who kept our glasses filled with iced tea.

Great little local dive to eat at. The waitress Ashley had great customer service. Breakfast was amazing, eggs, bacon, sausage and the 60 degree morning surrounded by mountains and fresh air! Love it

Mountain sunrise has a super friendly staff and delicious food. I had the omelette all the way and it was great. The biscuit seemed to be made from scratch and was very fresh. Good, hot cup of coffee. Solid A rating as a breakfast place.

Lovely, quiet gem with humble ambiance. Fresh flowers adorn every table with hanging plants at the many sunlit windows. Grandma's cooking at a respectable value. Waiters are courteous and friendly, almost familial. Highly recommend the quiche!

Great sandwiches and soup! Friendly owners. Small, simple, clean. Haven't tried their breakfast menu, but will today since they serve breakfast all day long. Limited parking (only 3 spaces), but municipal parking lot is just a very short walk away.

The staff is so friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. I’ve never had better biscuits and gravy before. Definitely should be on your list of places to eat at!

Friendly, fresh, and fun. atmosphere!! We ordered a variety of dishes, and. enjoyed everything from the quiche, the reuben and fresh local fruit. The staff was so welcoming, and made us feel comfortable. Great food, and even better service!!

Food was delicious! Prices pretty standard. Atmosphere was great for a mountain mom and pop place! Friendly people...a little slow but worth the wait! We would visit again!

A great meal with great service! A delicious breakfast with tasty traditional southern fare (grits, biscuits, gravy). Will definitely stop by for breakfast on the next trip through Black Mountain!

Ate breakfast there this morning. A very nice gentleman named Alex waited and cooked for us. The food was great and would be a mainstay for me if I lived here. Great food for a very good price.

This little cafe is a hidden treasure! Got my lunch there -- my second visit. Greeted with a smile both times & my did was delicious & prepared exactly the way I requested. I'll be back for sure!
