Outstanding in every way! Delicious and satisfying dishes. Excellent service and atmosphere. We had the specials for the night, but we were tempted by multiple dishes on the menu. Seasonal shrubs were so refreshing! Can’t say enough good things about the chef, owners, and their fresh, creative and flavorful menu items.

A cozy artsy atmosphere in downtown black mountain. We ate inside but they have outside dinning too. Loved the vegan and vegetarian menu and the large selection and variety of entrees . It was 5 of us and we were all impressed with the quality of food. Our granddaughter got the Mac and cheese pancakes. The vegan crab cakes made from local mushrooms were wonderful. All dishes were good, will definitely go there next time I am in that area.

This place is a little hidden gem in the heart of Black Mountain. We stumbled upon it walking around and met the new owners. It is a bit unassuming but don’t let it fool you. The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing. It was fresh, unique and so flavorful. We got the Lion Cakes which is a vegan crab cake (they use mushrooms instead of crab) and it was sooo good. My friend got the Cuban Bowl and I got the beet salad. I would highly recommend eating here!!!

The food here was delicious - fresh, tasty, and well presented, but that was nothing compared to the service we received! As soon as we got there, our baby needed a diaper change so I asked if they had a changing table. They didn’t, but the manager and staff were so helpful. They left a whole room for us to change him and even gave us towels to cushion him. I cannot say enough good things about the food, team, and restaurant.

What a wonderful unique place tucked right in the center of town on Cherry St. There were 7 of us that came in together and they made us feel right at home in the cozy dining area with a fireplace and sitting area. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and let us know all the specials and even the one beverage they were out of. It was so nice to know prior to looking at the menu. The food was excellent. I ordered the red curry bowl. It was just the right amount of heat....as in spice...I like spicy and they did this up just right, you had the heat of the spices but it didn't detract from the other flavors of the dish. Hats off to the chef....you nailed it!!!! I will definitely be going back again and again!!!!

Fantastic tasting food with solid vegetarian options. We tried two bowls (Southern and Cuban) and both were delicious. Added falafel patties to Southern and those were great. Also had a Stuffed-Avocado which was a great starter. Reasonable prices! Good tap list. Friendly wait staff. The collard greens were delicious. The friend plantain & mango offered an interesting sweet add to bites from the Cuban Bowl.
Seating is mostly outside - on sunny days they try not to seat inside, on rainy or winter days they do have a small indoor seating area that we did not visit.

We found Goldfinch Restaurant while wandering around the village of Black Mountain. The food, service and drinks were amazing! If you are vegan you will absolutely love this place and even if you are not vegan which we are not. There are so many delicious options to eat. I had the Lion Cakes, an alternative of crab cakes made of mushrooms. My husband had jerk chicken tacos which were out of this world! We loved it so much we came back a second night! Thanks for your hospitality and we will be back again on our next visit!

Goldfinch Cocktails & Kitchen, Black Mountain, NC
This is a cute little restaurant in the main downtown area, tucked in among other shops, bars and restaurants. There’s an outdoor seating area, bar area on the ground level and then downstairs is the restaurant area, a rather small intimate space, artfully decorated. We had a reservation @ 6. We were promptly seated and attended to immediately by our waitress. Wine and alcoholic cider drinks were ordered as well as a yummy vegan appetizer that tasted like crab cakes but actually made with Lions Head mushrooms ! The main courses we ordered were 2 types of curry dishes, an avocado appetizer and another appetizer ( Lucas toast) on thin toasted bread. The drinks were excellent and the vegan entrees were so good and filling. We were too full to order dessert.

We are obsessed with this establishment. We had goldfinch twice during our stay in black mountain, once for order out and once we dined in with our three kids. While not a "kid friendly" establishment as in there is no "kids menu" our three kids ages 4, 9, and 14 all really enjoy their meals. My 4 and 9 year old devoured their tacos. The root salad and the Cuban bowls are divine. The Mac and cheese pancakes with the Sriracha maple syrup? Incredible. My husband had the southern bowl. We also tried the stuffed avocado which was very fresh and oh so good. And lastly we had the goddess toast. Nothing disappointed. Everything was delicious. Vegetarian options available if that's your thing. Service was superb, bathrooms were clean. We ate outside on the patio at night with gas heaters to keep warm. But there is indoor and outdoor bar seating and a small and cozy indoor lounge/table area inside as well. Parking is on the street and not hard to find. Don't miss this place!

My favorite spot on our trip. The atmosphere, the people, the drinks, the food. I don’t think my husband and I stayed so long at a bar. I wish we had more appetite to try more of the food. The toasts that we got were amazing. My husband tried every drink on the menu—Jackie is incredible. Go here!

My husband and I were in Black Mountain for a week and ate at Goldfinch multiple times. I got hooked on the tacos. We love the vibe of the restaurant and the outdoor seating. The staff is wonderful and you leave feeling like you’ve made new friends. If you’re into super spicy, ask about their house-made habanero carrot hot sauce. (And do yourself a favor, try it before you pour it on everything). This place is a treasure and we look forward to visiting again on our next trip.

Goldfinch is a gem among Black Mountain's restaurant offerings. A thoughtful, healthy menu, great drinks (including NA options!), and wonderful service with a great vibe. The Southern Bowl is a favorite! The patio is top notch on a beautiful day, and the bar and dining room are also great if the weather is a little dreary.

I am gluten intolerant & vegan & typically very anxious about the aforementioned when eating out. This was the most careful, attentive dining experience! I felt like my dietary needs were carefully considered & for once I wasn’t nervous! Food was excellent as well. Just a great experience 💖

Delish small plates and refreshing adult beverages. People start lining up by 5 pm for a seat in their outdoor dining area, which is under shade trees and flower plantings. There are a few tables inside near the cocktail bar as well. Dogs are welcome on leash when sitting outside. Servers are sweet, attentive and efficient. Restrooms are clean. The hidden surprise is the downstairs air conditioned area with comfy couches and plenty of side tables for drinks or plates. It is like a calming cave for relaxing and escaping from the heat. Deserves 6 stars!

Goldfinch is located on Cherry Street which is the large patio with the big tree. We were greeted by Amber with her joyful, fairylike personality. She seated us immediately and provided sambal coated almonds while we decided on drinks and food.

VIBE
The patio has a casual ambiance with great music. If you ask nicely, they’ll share the Spotify playlists with you. The patio is dog friendly and beautifully lit in the evenings. They also have a very cool interior area where you can chill and have drinks, the interior area reminds me of a speakeasy.

DRINKS
I had a Black Dahlia which is a charcoal infused gin, rose syrup, lemon, and egg white. Jackie does an awesome job mixing drinks. My drink had a light, refreshing flavor. My BF got a mule with Tito’s vodka, it was also good.

FOOD
The tacos were flavorful! I enjoy tacos with corn tortillas and Goldfinch does it right. We ordered the jerk chicken and carnitas tacos, both were delicious, Amber offered a pineapple salsa(?) to drizzle on top and it brought the flavors out even more. To balance it out we had the house salad with salmon and it’s my current favorite salad. Compliments to the chef, whose name escapes me.

We extended our stay in Black Mountain because we love the vibe and especially enjoy coming to Goldfinch for dinner.

Absolutely incredible. Staying in Black Mountain for a couple months. Walked by with a friend and decided to grab a bite. Couldn’t have been more pleased. I’ve eaten all over the country/world and this place is wonderful! Jackie/Amber and the crew are doing a fantastic job. The cocktails and food are equally superb.
