Amazing food. I got the brisket sandwich, I would have posted the food but ate it too fast. Food was delicious and well made. Even the side coleslaw and hush puppies were delicious and I don’t usually like those. Service was fast, we got our food within a minute after ordering. Small business type, definitely support if you’re in the area. I got a few bbq sauces to go and would definitely come back if I’m ever in the area.

This was absolutely the best BBQ that I have had in ages! Only my pastor makes better brisket! This sliced brisket is lean and smoky! The BBQ baked beans are fantastic. Coleslaw is homemade. Order at counter from friendly staff.

Could not be better. Brisket, baked beans, and cole slaw were so fabulous! Terrific recipes. I don't give many 5-Star reviews any more unless the place exceeds expectations. This did.

Very freindly people, fast service. Chicken and pork bbq plates to go fed us well this evening and we have some left for the morning. Very intersting decoration. Seems likes they have good established reputation and a lot of regular guests. Very happy we stop by at this this place on our long trip.

We stumbled upon this place on our way home from Florida. We thoroughly enjoyed our self. The barbecue was fantastic. The portions were very good. The atmosphere is eclectic and cool. The barbecue sauce choices were fantastic. We bought several to go home with. I hope I get a chance to come back again but it is 1000 miles from our house. If you’re in the area we would definitely recommend that you stop in and get some of their ribs

We were passing by and getting hungry and noticed the sign. Thought we’d give it a go at Phil’s. They did not disappoint!! BBQ is delicious. Sauces are tasty and the banana pudding was on point!! Kids enjoyed the decor…..hats hanging from all over the place. Overall glad we stopped. We frequent Cherokee and Bryson city from central NC and this will be a common stop for us now! Staff is super friendly!! Thanks for a great meal!!

I liked the chopped bbq vs pulled. I liked that there were 5 different bbq sauces to choose from. I didn't like the onions in the baked beans. What I really loved about this restaurant was the outside seating with the views of the mountains. Stellar view.

Stopped in to try some authentic North Carolina barbecue. We really enjoyed everything that we had. We had ribs as well as a meat sampler with pulled pork chops chicken and sliced brisket. The sides were also really good they definitely care about making the whole meal a good experience. The hush puppies were also delicious. I found the staff was very helpful and accommodating and the place looked pretty cool on the inside although we took our food to go.

An early lunch of sliced brisket with green beans and bbq beans was delightful! While the brisket was slightly tired (dry), it was not enough to damage the overall rating. The meat was proportionally marbled and perfectly seasoned. And, of course, both beans were excellent and the hats, t-shirts, and bottle cap collections provided great entertainment during our short wait for our meal.

It was super simple, The menu wasn't overwhelming and It came out decently fast. The meat was fantastic, and their sauces were delicious. I would totally go here again! If I didn't live far away.

So NC! So BBQ! So delicious! We just stumbled on this unassuming humble restaurant and loved the slices brisket, sauces and hush puppies! Generous portions and a friendly counter guy Look at the ceiling and enjoy the hat collection! Rustic and wonderful! Stop here.

I'm from PA. The BBQ was amazing. Great staff and atmosphere. Tons of food for the money. So glad we seen sign on highway and pulled in. Must stop!

The BBQ here is amazing. The sides are so good as well. Not a single thing was less than great. Phils deluxe sampler plate has a full rack of ribs sliced brosket pulled brisket pulled chicken and pulled pork with two sides for like 24 dollars. Its plenty big enough for a lunch for two. I really cant say enough about this place. Service is fast and friendly as well.

Festive down home great BBQ. Friendly staff! Looks like all the locals know where to get good food! It was packed but didn’t take long to get our food.
Tons of outdoor seating and local beer options.
We got the brisket and ribs and with the two sides of fried okra and Mac& cheese it was enough for two people!

They some of the best pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, bbq baked beans, slaw and they even have pulled chicken on their salads. When it comes to bbq it's hard to beat it and at a good price. Coldest beer anywhere.

Absolutely the most delicious chopped brisket I've ever had! Looking forward to returning soon.

Several local beers on tap as well as fountain drinks.
Owner is a hat collector & license plate fanatic.

Do yourself a favor & try Phil’s out!! We all ordered different items Stuffed Baked Potato, Brisket Sandwich, Quesadilla, & Mac and cheese everything was fabulous from the food to the service. We bought 2 different sauces to go and a delicious Cookie! We can’t say thank you enough for the hospitality & the great food !!! We definitely recommend this restaurant!

My girlfriend and I had a foodie road trip today, starting in Asheville and ending in Black Mountain. Phil's was our choice for dinner. *Sidenote: If you have the time when visiting Asheville, Take the extra 20 minutes drive to Black Mountain (recently voted one of the best small towns in the US)
Back to Phil's... I ordered the 3-meat dinner. The ribs, Amazing! St Louis style, light sauce, dry rubbed, slow cooked to fall of the bone perfection. Smoked wings were definitely different from the greasy fried wings we're used to back in Pittsburgh, but a good different. Different texture without the crisp, but the flavor is was there. Chopped pork with any of their 5 house sauces. *Inside tip: Mix the Carolina vinegar, Mustard, and the Classic sauces.
Cole slaw reminded me of my grandparents' slaw... Not too much vinegar..not too much Mayo.. dash of pepper.
The little kid in me can never pass on Mac n cheese, so of course I had that as my 2nd side (Don't judge, but this was my 3rd Mac n cheese side in 3 days haha)
Highlights of my girlfriend's meal:
The collards were delicious! (Don't tell Tupelo Honey, but Phil has them beat)
She also had the chopped chicken and could not put down the bottle of Alabama White Sauce (think the Mayo and Vinegar mix in coleslaw). I think they had to refill the bottle when we left haha
And lastly, while I was filling our soda cups, I caught a glimpse of the BBQ nachos....enough said haha

The food, people, atmosphere and place was AMAZING! The brisket literally melted in your mouth and the ribs are soooo good. The baked beans will make you wanna slap your momma and the collard greens has just the right about of tangy. The hush puppies are really good. Definitely, a must whenever you're traveling to Asheville. I will be back again.
