Trailhead Restaurant & Bar

Wow.. i am blown away! We are exploring this town for the first time and trailhead was one of our first stops.

This is a restaurant that puts their money where their mouth is. The menu is not your typical junky bar food. Its elegant, tasteful, and well thought out.

I got the beer that was the special of the day and it was a delicious refreshing light beer that complimented all the food we got. My partner got a Moscow gin mule which was made with a heavy hand - it was a strong stiff drink. No skimping out here.

We started with the mussel appetizer in red coconut curry broth served with a fresh baguette. I was literally slurping up the broth with a mussel shell.

Second on our tasting was the onion rings. Some of the best onion rings I've ever had. We dipped them in ranch sauce. They were thin, crispy, and delicious. Perfectly fried. It reminded me of crispy French onions. The serving was plentiful.

Last on our list was the black balsam knob. Grilled rare ahi tuna with sesame seeds served with asparagus, scallions, local sprouts, shaved carrots, cucumber, and ponzu. A highly flavorful dish with plenty of texture. Truly delectable.

I wish I could try one of everything on the menu.

After dining at Trailhead last year we made sure to stop in again. Ever bit as pleased as before. One of the best burgers you can get.. anywhere! Worth the wait. Their other food we saw them serve looked amazing as well.

Precious restaurant in black mountain with lovely outdoor seating. Dog friendly as well! We ordered delicious burgers with their apple cider cocktail special and pumpkin ale. Delicious! Staff was very friendly as well. Would definitely come back!

Always fantastic food and service. We arrived later in the evening tonight and weren't rushed out.

We've ordered takeout plenty and dined in plenty of times before and there's never been an issue. We have a vegan family member and have ordered vegan many times in the past and they always accommodate!

Margaritas are my go-to and they're always a hit at Trailhead.

The burgers are TOP notch but you cannot go wrong with anything you order. They have an expansive, something-for-everyone menu.

They also have amazing specials. The photo in this review is ribeye chilaquiles they had for a daily special. Incredible and only $9.95!

Park on the street or across the street in the gravel lot by the church.

Excellent fish and chips, friendly staff, and Ginger’s Revenge on draft! It was a cold day and the heat didn’t seem to be on, but I ate with my coat on and enjoyed every bite!!

Great place to stop in for some really good food. We grabbed a to-go order while enjoying a cold brew. Bartender was the nicest, most efficient I've had the pleasure to meet! Place was a bit more crowded than usual for a Monday, but I guess... leaves. Trailhead burger was very good and the nachos were excellent!

Locals eat here year round! Customer service is always fantastic. Best burger and hand cut fries in WNC. Plenty of great food options as well as cold beer. Highly recommended

Ordered the fish and chips at our waitresses' suggestion. The food arrived fast, hot, and tasted out of this world. Crispy breaded fresh fish, homemade tarter sauce, and fresh cut fries. Yum. It was very loud in the restaurant and warm inside. But the food was so great and host and waitress were friendly.

Trailhead has a lot of your tradition favorites along with their own artistic additions that will tantilate your taste buds. I had the Catawba Falls consisting of grilled trout over kale with pickled onion, shredded carrot, goat cheese and topped with three slices of lemon. Next time I'll have it with a glass of red wine. My wife had the battered chicken breast with kale and corn pudding. I tried it and it was delicious. She loved it. The beer is much less than any place in Asheville. Hit the trail. You'll be glad you did!

Went here to eat a burger after hiking for the day. The burger was great and waitress was very nice, tried the corn pudding and it was slightly sweet and a bit crunchy—very good!

The burger patties are thick and filling. Inside was a bit but good spot to eat!

The food was unique and flavorful. My salmon burger had a lot going on but it came together well and it was healthy. The nachos were the same thing. My wife loved her salad

What a find !!! Local person recommended this place and they did not disappoint. It was a bit crowded so we sat at the bar and received excellent service. I was going to order the burger but saw an order of Fish & Chips go past us and had to have it. It was great!! The order is large and 2 of us split it. The batter on the fish was light and fluffy and complimented the Huge fish pieces!! ☺👍 definitely a place to stop in !!💕

Absolutely wonderful experience! Awesome food! Awesome atmosphere (love thier music selection) ! Awesome service! Awesome prices! We will be making this a must stop place when we travel through town. Definitely worth a detour. ❤❤❤

This restaurant was so good that we went to it twice in 2 weeks! The food was very tasty upscale bar food. Ingredients seemed very fresh and our party of 9 was served in a friendly efficient way and everyone was happy with their food!

Edit: We came for lunch today and it was delicious. I feel the need to note that our server, Chrystal and the host, Sarah were incredible. Both were so pleasant and worked hard to keep the atmosphere clean without making us wait very long at all!

The sandwiches were delicious! We didn't get the Mac and cheese, but someone at our table did and it looked incredible- creamy with a cheesy, melty top. Our server was so kind and on it! We will definitely return!

Super nice place. Everybody is very friendly! Lots of craft beer on tap. Lots to choose from on the food menu. The food we got was delicious. We got the trailhead burger with fries. The place is decorated very nice. Great sept for sone good food and a cold beer!!! I can’t wait to go back! I highly recommend this place if your in the area.

My first and only time eating here, they accidentally handed off our plates to the wrong table, sounds like the start of a bad review right? Well our server was extremely professional and apologetic and gave us a discount and once our food did show up man was it great, they were busy that day and the incident was an honest mix up and I can't pretend I've never made a mistake, good experience overall

Portobello Sandwich was excellent bderful! The taco special was great! Fast and friendly service.

Trailhead is a great place to stop by if you're looking for somewhere chill, with great service and good food. I don't dine alone often but when I'm on trips by myself I kind of have to. The server, Jade, made me feel so welcome and comfortable even with how busy she was with her other tables. There wasn't any live music when I was there but it seems like an awesome place with good acoustics for such a thing. Pricing was fair, menu online is generally accurate, and the food tasted delicious. Make sure to try to peanut butter pie if you stop in! I will more than gladly come back here if I come back to Black Mountain!

Stopped in for lunch - no wait whatsoever. The service was great and my server was quite helpful. Very tasty mussels!
