I first hired Deke overv20 yrs ago to handle my divorce and custody battle yes battle also through out the years for some minor criminal cases, Mr Owen's handled all my cases like a super star and I still go to him for anything that may require a lawyer or even simple advice he's a great person and Professional. Great attorney. Deke Has helped my wife with a criminal charge. No problems with anything. She received no probation. Paid the fines and court cost. Deke has also helped my son with a simple speeding ticket. Paid the fines and court cost. Deke kept him out of driving class that saved me a bit of money. Deke also kicked the game winning field goal for ECU in the Peach Bowl against Ncsu. 1992 I believe making him a sort of local hero. Very professional and friendly. Been working with Deke Owens on a variety of legal issues for many many years, I trust his advice and opinion in regards to any issue I may have. It's been a pleasure dealing with him.

This man took $2000 from me and did nothing. He separated from his law firm at which time I was presented with the choice to stay with the law firm (which wasn't an option since they no longer had a civil attorney), stay with him , or go elsewhere (in which case I would not be refunded any money). I opted to stay with him since I had already payed him $2000. He would not return any calls and there was no progress with my case at all. Months went by, with him occasionally telling me he was still going to represent me. Finally, I had to hire another attorney and did not receive any of my money back. Not papers were ever filed and I never saw the inside of a court room . He didn't do this to just me. He had several other clients who he also "dumped" at the same time and all of us lost any moneys we had given him. I have a personal friend who hired Deke to handle his divorce and he said it was an awful experience and he would never recommend him to anyone. Do NOT hire this man unless you want to be robbed. I never would've expected this kind of behavior from someone who is supposed to be upholding the law. There no other way to put it other than: This man stole $2000 from me. For me, that's a whole months income and it's just gone. The one star rating is far more than he deserves.

The owner of the firm he works for could not and did not try to explain his Attorney’s many failures, while giving me a full refund even the non-refundable portion of the retainer.
