Westlake Branch - Daly City Public Library

Popular and conveniently located public library near Westlake shopping. Nice children's section and many DVDs or Blu-ray. There's parking but you need to go behind the strip mall and sometimes it's full.

Post-COVID, BurlingiMain Public Library remains on of my favorites among and of the libraries in our area. Great selectio. Cool building. Excellent location. Lots of services, events, and equipment. Worth a trip any day of the week!

This is my neighborhood library and I couldn't love it more! It is beautiful and the library staff is so sweet and helpful. It's part of the Peninsula Library System (PLS) so if you need any book that they don't have, there are PLS libraries all the way down to Menlo Park that they can arrange your book from.

There is a separate children's room behind an aquarium, with activity sheets for the kids. There is a trained therapy dog that comes in every month (3rd Wednesday) to allow the kids to play with it and read to it (which is great for kids who feel shy reading to people).

The librarians told me about how the library cards can be used to get free tickets to many Bay Area museums like the Exploratorium, De Young Museum and California Academy of Sciences etc. (The library has partnered with Discover & Go for this). The librarians also shared how the library cards give you access to NY times, ebooks and audiobooks online. You can checkout Chromebooks and Hotspots too. This library also has State Park passes which one can check out to go to many California State Parks for free. I had no idea about any of this and am glad I visited the library to know about it.

Oh and you can do 3D printing for free here. And enjoy the seeds the library gives out for free as part of their "Seed library".

I am genuinely puzzled by the reviews that say it is really noisy and full of children. Before I visited the library for the first time, I read the reviews and got the impression of rowdy kids running around like hooligans - which is absolutely untrue. While yes, young kids do come in to do their homework etc., I have found the library sound levels to be perfectly reasonable. There are two rooms where one can isolate themselves and read/work - one of these two rooms is a silent work space and I have always found it quiet and peaceful.

I encourage everyone to visit this library and make use of its resources.

Librarians are very helpful. Lots of items to choose from. Nice atmosphere. Quiet most of the time. A little more activity after school lets out. Not bad. They deserve their time there as well as this senior.

Great little library in a cozy space. San Mateo county’s library exchange is great as well as its ebook lending library system. Wish this branch had longer hours, but that is out of the library’s control.

This library is the best library I've been to! They have fast service and people follow the rules. Such a great library 😀📚📖
