This is a fun place to go with super knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Give yourself a couple hours at least...this place is a treasure trove of music goodness and it is huge! Tons of vinyl, CDs, and music memorabilia.

There is a good collection of new records across every genre you can think of, but If you dig a bit you can find some nice used older records for 2-10$ - just make sure they aren't scratched. There are also tons of discounted items as well.

Overall I would say records are priced at fair market value for the respective condition...not much more or less than if you bought online.

As an Aussie tourist, Amoeba was a music lover's paradise! There is a huge selection of vinyl across all genres, from classic rock to local bands. Found some rarities I'd been hunting for ages, plus scored a sweet tote bag. Definitely recommend checking it out for anyone visiting! The surrounding area of Haight street is also worth a walk down too.

Great collection of vinyls and cds. Has a lot of funny merch too great store overall. A definite visit if you’re in San Francisco or the Bay Area. Has one of the largest collections in all of California. Staff is great and there’s so many aisles of vinyls it’s helpful that they know their stuff.

Huge store! That’s the first thing that hits you… I could spend all day there if I had the time, unfortunately I was a tourist on a tight schedule but I really enjoyed my time at the store. I saw records that I haven’t seen in years.
Some of the staff seem to take themselves a little too seriously (I say that as someone who once worked in a record store, so I’m allowed to), but definitely worth a visit.

An iconic music shop with a massive selection.

There are tons of CDs and vinyl records here. They're organized alphabetically. Backpacks are not allowed. You have to check in at the front. Even if you don't intend on buying anything, you should check out this iconic place.

Hands down the best music store I've been to, period. HUGE selection of all genres, new and old. It was as good or better than the one in Hollywood. Prices were totally reasonable. I found so many cool treasures here I've never encountered elsewhere. Wherever they're finding their selection must be top notch. Good stuff! Go here if you love buying music because you won't be disappointed.

Excellent selection of music, especially vinyl. Helpful staff who is pretty well informed on a wide range of music styles.

It’s a great space overall as well.

It’s not all too easy to get to by public transportation but there are a few buses which go by; definitely worth a visit if you’re visiting San Francisco.

My mind was blown as soon as I entered. It looks like maybe it was an old bowling alley turned into a music/media store. This place has everything, like absolutely everything. It's like a grocery store for music with all its aisles. They even have a help desk. They have every kind of music from cassettes to vinyls to cds. They even have a separate section just for DVDs. They have merch and posters you can go through. I spent about an hour in here just gazing upon everything. I'm glad I came through here this is hands down one of my favorite record stores.
