Been going there ever since I was like 7 years old. Now I'm 24. It has been my place to study for school, socialize friends, and just to sit down relax and think. 10/10, a favorite library with many, many great books and forms of media

Rich collection of books, CD, DVD etc. Quiet, nice and clean environment. Love it. With books in other languages, make it turely international and global friendly library.

Literally the best library I've been to, no exaggerations. The children section is my daughter's favorite place in the world, we love to come to the story times through out the week and the librarians are so nice and always helpful and warm! The rest of the library is great, clean and tidy, quiet and lots of space to just sit, read and relax or work. The Cafe is also a nice little added bonus, the volunteers are always cheery and the drinks are small but it's only a dollar and I love supporting our local library! Sometimes it's hard to find parking but still a wonderful place!

We love our library. It is always clean, well organized, with friendly, helpful staff. Recently, they reopened with limited capacity and with a time limit of 15 minutes in the library. Everyone was wearing masks, and it felt like a fairly safe environment to bring my unvaccinated child to. We had the kid's section to ourselves. The summer reading program is back up, and they give you a nifty book with stickers to help track your reading progress. Today the lady at the children's desk and the lady who checked us out were lovely and made my kid's day.

Best place to get good books. Great customer service. During pandemic , staff members are very creative in attracting kids and youth. I really like their book bags. There are two parking lots next to the library for 2 hrs. 10 min parking in front of the library really help during drop off and pick up too.

i love my library. it is small compared to behemoths like the Oakland public library, but large enough to have a great selection. the librarians are helpful and generally tolerant of my ignorance. outside of pandemic times, they have lots of spaces for studying or just reading. the restrooms are well kept, and the main branch has a cafe. thumbs up emoji!

Funny how these losers give a free library bad reviews, Simple don’t like it don’t go, beatify library and I see people criticizing the architecture. Really? Get a life and if you’re renting movies from a library and complaining about it not being set up perfectly you’re an even bigger loser buy some streaming services stop free loading and buy your own WiFi and stay home off the library’s so bad. Complain about the noise stay home save yourself the trip you self entitled egotistical D-bags who complain. Love the library.

This is a great library! Someone on here mentioned it was smaller than the Oakland branch, like HOW? Being from Oakland I was always amused that a big city like that doesn't have a sufficient sized library like SF. I've seen prisons(in movies) that look better than that main branch! And prob louder than a homeless shelter. I came from Oakland to this library while finishing my degree and still come here to do work. The mask police is annoying sometimes, but understood. Very clean, from the sitting areas to the restrooms...

I love books so this is one of my favorite places to be. It's always well organized. The staff are friendly and helpful if you need. Self check out is fantastic.

This is a wonderful library! They offer awesome community events in the interest of the entire family and every age group. One thing that is particularly awesome about this library is the services and help they offer teachers. They offer a teacher library card (with different due dates), as well as, support to teachers and their students, if a teacher is teaching a particular unit. The Alameda Free Library will even gather the books and have them ready for pick-up to support one's content instruction! Unmatched service for teachers anywhere!

We moved to Alameda recently and we're pleasantly surprised by the great library here! Our one year old loves the children's section, and one of the children's librarians, Dawn, is the nicest and most helpful person. We only wish the library was open longer!

Comfortable window seats, found the book I was looking for. A little difficulty with the organization of the juvenile section, but we worked around it.

Welcoming, inclusive, beautiful architecture great selections, and they happily take suggestions. Good volunteer-run cafe in the back, but not always open, so don't count on it if you're hungry

Honestly it is a life saver! Its a perfect place to relax have fun and the cafe is perfect. Only wish it was open for longer. Also they could open at 9 A.M instead of 12 P.M, it would be nice...

This is an excellent place for you to access the internet or just books. Staff is friendly and very informed. I look forward to utilizing this place for studies as necessary. Just have a parking plan if you want to drive there.

Excellent library. Great book selection, friendly staff, nice seating options. Always enough parking unless you visit at peak times.
