This was my very first time at this MLK Shoreline. I came to pick-up trash as part of the Day of Service, Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.
There was so much plastic. One family pulled a tire out of the mud. I was glad I brought my garden tools to pluck hundreds of bottle caps out of the plants.
Yet I met wonderful people from San Francisco (brothers) enjoying a day in service. A dedicated woman from Berkeley, a family from Oakland and youth learning their strength as they cleared dead leaves around a play area.

For birdwatchers the very warm day was a bounty of observations.

A little slice a heaven. Serene morning walks are great at this park. Open space as well as walkways. It's a bird sanctuary. No walking on the pier from November to March.

What a lovely park. Excellent place for a sunset stroll. The paths are paved and accessible for mobility devices. There are multiple parking areas connecting to the trails. Great observation spot for all kinds of water fowl and wading bird as well as a great cityscape view.

Beautiful Park! Excellent walkways that have stunning views. Awesome herons and avian life. Amazing sunsets. Their is a wildlife sanctuary next to it that is fenced off but full of wildlife. Highly recommended especially for dogs it is VERY dog friendly! It is my dog's favorite park. Lots of squirrels and tons of geese. Watch out because of all the goose poop! There are picnic areas. There are no restrooms or a playground.

This is a really nice path along the shore line. There are a lot of little park like areas with benches and BBQs for an outing and a great walking/running/biking path. I was able to see SFO and San Francisco across the water, very nice. Glad I was able to have such a nice place to exercise while stopped in Oakland for a few hours. There is parking along the path. I began at tidewater boating center. There is a lot of wild growing anise that smells a bit like black licorice after a gentle rain, as well as the purifying scent of eucalyptus trees, great views of the water. Highly recommend.

Great walk on the north shore. Entrance close to Harley Davidson dealership. Canal to bridge. Your choice to go left or right. South side is a larger park area. North side continues for about 3 miles from starting point. Many small parking lots along north path.

A relaxing spot to stop for small walk, peaceful ambiance with nice view of surroundings, seems safe at daytime, have restrooms and picnic tables, occasionally watch rowing practices.

Another hidden gem in the East Bay. Located near the Oakland airport, this nature preserve offers great viewing of migratory birds , as well as yearly residents. If you are lucky, you might even spot a Ridgway's rail! The pathways are all tarmac, so it is great for folks with mobility issues. There is a lot of parking, as well, and well maintained bathrooms.

It's a nice quiet place to get away but not have to go far. Great place to see the fireworks at the coliseum after A's games or to watch plane come and go.

They are park benches. But lots of goose poop around.

If you're looking to get to a quiet place, beautiful with a mix of species of birds this is place. Great for walking, bird watching, and fishing!

This area has become a place of solace for me, allowing time to unwind and reflect as I take in the majestic views.

Clean fresh air abounds as the autos are kept at bay freeing you up from their loud incessant engine noise, and pollutants the like.

What a wonderful trail to explore, easily accessible with sparce few joggers but friendly people saying good day as we cross paths.

Great for educators of young minds when teaching about marsh land habitat and it's importance and impact on the surrounding ecosystems.

I so enjoy Martin Luther King trail and I believe you will as well. Please explore!
