Black Bear Diner

We went for dinner on a Friday night, and were seated right away. The food was GREAT, and so was the service! All the little black bears in the gift shop r just adorable!!! We took lots of pictures with the carved bears outside, because they r just adorable, too!

I had a fantastic dining experience here! My server was awesome: friendly, attentive, and professional! The food was delicious! I ordered the tri-tip and rib combo with sweet potato fries and broccoli. Portions were generous and prepared as requested. I'll be back on my next visit.

Nice place to bring the family. Also, kids eat free from 4pm-9pm so that certainly helps! When we got our plates, I was surprised to see the pancake was shaped like a bear with eyes made of banana slices with chocolate chips, etc. (see picture). I've got two small children and the wait staff was really nice. After dinner, my toddler wanted to roam around and I walked with her. I like the diner experience and the food was particularly delicious.

We'll definitely be coming back.

Extremely fast service for 2 people (even with a packed house)! The food was great and came relatively quickly. Our server was extremely efficient and friendly!
Overall, this is a really nice local diner that I could definitely come back to.

I have been here multiple times and I haven’t had any issues with my order the food is good and the multiple waiters that have took my order on different occasions were very friendly

Not too many 24 hour resturants left post Covid. Nice to have a much better option than Denny's. Food is better, service is better, and portion/price it's a much better value.

Great food, lots of choices. This was my first time going. Atmosphere was cute with the black bear theme. However, the ladies that were working on Sunday, had no smiles left to give! Smile, you are working!!

Packed during brunch. Fast service and good food!

Busy. At least 20 waiting to be seated. No Matter! 15 minutes and that's all it took. Isabel was nice enough to find me a table near an outlet (needed it for my laptop). Vatsana! was my waitress. Enjoyed having her. Wonderful girl with a very nice spirit about her. She, like many others, was bouncing from table to table like a pinball. I especially appreciated that she kept the emptied dishes cleared from my table, because the one I was seated at was a two person, smaller table. Also, everything came out hot and as ordered/presentation nice.
I want to mention a man named A.J. When I saw him, his job seemed to focus on getting the just-prepared food into the waitresses hands, and making sure the order was accurate. He was like Quarterback behind the counter. Very good, and very efficient at that.
My food: I ordered the classic bowl. A LOT of food. Got a pancake as an option for the toast If I had to mention anything negative about this stop I would say the pancake was dry, and the butter was cold, which isn't a good mix. But if that is all I can find as a negative, this Black Bear Diner is doing a lot Right!
The place was filled, yet was an impressive organized machine at what it does!

Came here for breakfast with my family. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. We were promptly seated. Our food was delicious. The portion sizes were quite generous. The bathrooms were extremely clean.

It was late night, super hungry, the servers were handling more than their numbers allowed but they did a great job nonetheless.

The Food was amazing! I would want ot go to this restaurant again! Also Lucy, she's very good and fast! Very good service and restaurant! Please I recommend this!

The clerks were kind and respectful, and they answered my inquiries in fine detail regarding their menu items. This place may compete with Denny’s and IHOP, but Black Bear Diner is in the same boat as Emil Villa’s California BBQ: better than Denny’s and IHOP. And the place is so off the books, there isn't a large crowd of people (though I did come on a weekday); thus, one didn't have to wait too long to be serviced. I would come here regularly, but I must catch a bus. Regardless, I recommend this place to anyone with a big appetite and get their money’s worth from the provided portions. I asked if they could combine two menu items, a chili cheddar burger and a pot roast melt, and they got it done in 10 minutes and without excessively charging me extra. If you ask me, Black Bear Diner is criminally underrated and should have more locations. My only relatively minor complaint is that their advertised specials, such as their steak and eggs breakfast for $9.99, are served from 6 am-10 am. Those specials should be served all day.

Great, but could do without the masks. I'm hearing impaired and had to kept looking at my brother for what the waitress/waiter said. My Hobo Omelette was proper. Kinda wish there was a beer menu vs bottomless mimosas.

The food was unbelievably delicious. They give you large portions enough for a second meal. The food is fresh and expertly prepared. It's my number one place to eat.

So, we originally thought this place would be “ehh” but I had to use the bathroom and we were hungry. I was pretty surprised to see all of the outside seating and the employees were all so nice! The food was awesome and I have to say the habanero hot sauce was bomb! If you’re in the area, I’d say stop by. It’s definitely better than an IHOP, Denny’s etc. and the people were great.

We always have a great breakfast meal at the Black Bear Diner. On this outing we enjoyed the Shasta Scramble and the "Bear's Choice" mix and match breakfast. Both were excellent. The orange juice tasted fresh squeezed and our coffee was refilled regularly. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The Black Bear Diner offers lunch and dinner items as well, but we just can't get past the breakfast offerings on the menu when we are there.

Delish breakfast experience! Menu selection, price, atmosphere and best of all wait service impeccable! Ashley is a great representation of quality of Black Bear Diner, Hayward. Definitely worth regular visits.👍😋💕
