This place is gorgeous, very beautiful, many different trails and ways to explore, we did an amazing way, was kind of challenge but we did it, many cows on the way, only one was kind of aggressive, but she stopped on the middle of the way hehehe, if you go on your way and don't arrive to close they are very relax and beautiful, the weather was perfect many views over the mountains, and I definitely recommend this place, I guess have many entrance, we started close to the one near the Archery Range, we want to go back to explore more, there's also a camping ground I think, not sure if really it is, but soon I will update with more information.

This is a very good hiking area. The trails are pretty steep and can be hot as there is not much tree cover in many places. The trail is gravelly and is muddy in some places, so a good hiking shoe is recommended.

Take plenty of drinking water as I did not see any water faucets or fountains. There is a small charge for using the trail and needs to be paid at the parking lot. Dogs are allowed but need to be leashed.

Ensure you take plenty of drinking water for your pet. There was a restroom marked on the trail but I could not find it.

This place is very well suited for horse riding. Though there were mountain bikers using the trail, but I found it difficult to handle the steep uphills and the gravel roads.

Beautiful, lush green rolling hills in the spring right after the rainy season is over. Some hikes are pretty steep. Can be very muddy in the beginning.

This place is a sanctuary, these trails are my path to a place where my spirit is able to visit with his spirit. I love to return for my ritualistic hike. Healing through nature.

The hawks were amazing, soaring and gliding. This is one of my favorite regional parks!

Pretty area and well maintained. The parking lots were plenty big to handle the visitors on a Saturday morning. Trails are wide for group hiking and well marked. The views of the valley and Mt Diablo are really beautiful on clear days.

I have only been to one tiny corner of this park starting at the Lafayette Ridge staging area (across from Acalanes HS.) We have hiked alone and with our grandkids. The trails we went on were fairly wide but packed hard and rutted. Watch out for cow pies! Every time we've been there we've encountered a small herd of cows. They mostly ignore you but sometimes block the trail. I got within 6 feet of a couple and they just stared at me. Lots of hills and nice views when you get to the top.

This is for use daily. Early morning strolls before the day gets going. Evenning walks along the hills to unwind. Miles of single track behind hidden gates, to run and recharge. The views aren't bad either. Avoid the massive trail heads and find public access at the end of many residential streets.

Briones is one of my favorite hikes in the area. There are so many trails and different staging areas to park. Tons of opportunities to make your hike longer and more challenging or shorter and easier. Lots of cows and rolling hills.

Nice scenery of the surrounding cities, Mt. Diablo, the bay, and the hills. The trails have several hilly sections, but aren't too difficult. It can be pretty windy at time let also, so it might be best to bring a windbreaker if hiking during the winter

For beginners, the mott peak trail was quite steep (900 feet elevation gain). But if you take it slow, the views are definitely worth it.
We saw a bunch of wildflowers, bursts of poppies, indigo lupine, winter vetch.
The last hill on the left when you reach the black oak trail from mott peak has the best display.
We started at Bear creek staging area -> Abrigo Valley Trail -> Mott peak trail -> Black oak trail.

I love coming here. It's so pretty and peaceful. Even if there are lots of cars in the parking lot, people are very spead out. Friendly people and lots of dogs out here. I walk my great niece here and she loves running around and playing here.

20200815 - We hiked the Ivan Dickson loop starting 820a with high 80s when we ascend from mile 0 to 2 from 672 to 1407 ft then we continue until 7.5 mile to the peak with a total elevation of 1.2+ ft. The last 2 miles is gruesome as we hit triple digit. We manage to complete a 12 mile hike for 5+ hours with a 23:01 min-mile speed.

Photos are from a hike up buckeye trail across Lafayette ridge trail and down spring valley trail. Great 2 mile loop with beautiful views. There are parts that are very steep, but definitely worth the trip.

This a lovely hike, everything is so green and pretty, the trail was very clean and there were some beautiful flowers along the way. I would definitely recommend this place and go here again.

Every two weeks I start at the Briones Overlook trail and head north. It's a tad more than 6 miles there and back. Amazing views of the reservoir. Because it requires an EBMUD pass, it is never crowded. Nice elevation gains, not too hard, but hard enough. V impressive views on this trail. Oh, nature!

Great park to disconnect and reconnect to nature just a few minutes from Berkeley and Oakland. Easy hikes for kids, but it can get hot so morning or evenings are best.
