I had a great experience here with Dr Duffy. He was knowledgeable, helpful, thorough and kind, and helped me get to the root of my issue while addressing symptoms in the meantime. He answered all of my questions and even followed up after I had left with test results and the protocol, which was much appreciated as I’m sure it’s very busy in the ER. We had a really standout experience here. I was very impressed with the level of service and care received.

I Have so much respect for Marin General Emergency Department! I’ve lived in Marin for about 30 years and been to the emergency room four times. Three of those times in the last two years. I just returned from a visit tonight taking my daughter there. We were in and out so fast I could hardly believe it. Dylan P Carney, MD was. patient understanding collaborative. The nurse that assisted was equally wonderful. At the end of the day I’m saying all of my experiences have been five stars but today was five stars plus

I had a wonderful experience here. I actually live in Berkeley but will happily drive over the bridge for Marin. I was in and out in less than 2 hours for a blood clot ultrasound. The staff was great. Place is clean, private rooms are available. I just saw how bad it was reviewed and felt like it I needed to take the time to add my positive experience.

My partner arrived at E.R., and seen within 15 mins. Staff was impressive, great communication + no insurance issues. Very expeditious lab tests, the PFT (pulmonary test), EKG, radiograph/chest x-ray, and mobile ultrasound all done w/o the patient moving -- when you're in pain - a huge difference, especially when ER staff is stressed with COVID-related issues & capacity concerns. They provided Pt. warm blankets (helped w/chills) & kept family informed. Partner was admitted, attentive friendly educated staff, lots of communication, safety measures taken, great bedside manner; overall my partner felt their needs were met in every aspect w/o concerns.

Terribly rude staff in the ER!
The front front desk checkin person,
I arrived at 5am with severe heart attack symptoms. The triage nurse did not take my temperature, blood pressure, was slow, it took 7 minutes to input into the ekg machine, then had to unplug and plug it back in, did not call a doctor, said he had to wait until he got results and the dtr was busy with other patients!
20 minutes before I saw a dtr,
Another 45 for an X-ray, another hour for a CT! The Dtr arrived in 1/2 and prescribed I V
morphine for Paine! I was so upset at the lack of attention for heart attack symptoms, as symptoms continued non stop.
Finally the dtr came in again and prescribed another I V pain med med.
The nurse who came in with my chart said all looked good, she had (10) yrs experience she said, I didn’t believe it. Why? Because my UCSF chart online said I hade pneumonia, both lungs and other issues. She laughed when I told her and said “really”! Then said she would not call in the prescription to the pharmacy, to bring it with me.
That is untrue, and I called the ER for the dtr, he was required to call it in.
Do NOT go to Marin General ER.
The entire staff was too busy or important to be attentive. BEWARE!

they put me down for “no insurance” even though i have insurance and provided all the information they were asking for and still sent me a bill which i have to figure out now. and instead of privately talking to me in a room the nurse came out in the waiting room in front of everyone n discussed private medical issues in front of everyone else in the waiting room. then they tried to pressure me into getting a very strong dose of antibiotics before getting results from my test and im so glad i advocated for myself because i didn’t even end up needing it. when they told me to come in for lab results the next day and i came all the way out for they told me they didn't have them and they didnt know why i was told to come back in the first place. i had a seriously unpleasant and unprofessional experience.

Avoid this place at all costs, especially if you have health insurance and unless you have between 5000, and 10,000 to pay a bill cash on hand. I went to here, and they ended up doing 2 or 3 vials of blood draw and a urine sample. No big deal right? I felt safe knowing I had Medicaid and hospitals are unable to balance bill Medicaid patients for emergency room services. I gave them all my insurance information, yet somehow when I return home to the east coast I have a $4,600 bill for the services provided. Firstly, what kind of ER chargers this much for 2 blood draws and a urine sample?!! Second, why didn’t they do their job and bill the insurance which they scanned at the time of service.

I AGAIN gave them my Medicaid information and they finally billed them. For whatever reason, my insurance only paid $67 on the entire bill - this is entirely out of my control. Marin continues to send me bills for the roughly $4,500 difference. I call my insurer to open a dispute, knowing the law that they are not able to bill me for the difference. The end result? My insurer sends me a notice notifying me that they went back and forth many times with Marin General ER, providing them with the FEDERAL LAW that protects me from that hospital coming after me for the rest of the balance. The notice also stated that despite these attempts, Marin is still going to come after me for the difference?!?! This is in violation of a FEDERAL LAW!!!! If this keeps up, I will likely need to hire an attorney, and seeing that they are breaking federal law, it should not be difficult to prove the point in court. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED WORSE SERVICE!!

Dr. Duffy should lose his license. He was dismissive and nasty , screwed up the ordering of a cat scan which I had to beg to get and Lo and behold I was diagnosed with lung cancer. I talked to him on the phone to correct the error in the cat scan order and he told me he would correct it when he could -“I have much more urgent emergencies to deal with first”. When the results of the cat scan came back he never even called me so I found out there was a major problem from the Follow My Health website and called my doctor to get treatment started. I had surgery at Marin General on 7/17 and am now home and healing. The nurses I had during my hospital stay were wonderful-particularly Inna, Monica, Chris and Kevin. If you want to be a first class hospital, you really need to shed doctors like Duffy.

My 97 year old father is here and he is in extreme pain. I have told the nurse and after one and a half hours she said a doctor had not been assigned to him yet. He was brought in by ambulance . No person should be allowed to lie in pain at 97 years old. I will never bring him to this hospital again if I can help it!! I understand being busy but this is ridiculous!!

This hospital is the worst and it strongly recommended to not go anywhere near this facility. I had told them that my wife and kids and myself had Covid like symptoms and they made us wait outside in the cold just to turn around and say they only where going to see my wife and our 4 year old and refused to see the rest of us because they said it was "too much covid to be in the hospital." Our 4 year old who was seen had a fever but they didn't do anything about it or his rash from the symptoms. They sent us home with no solutions and again didn't even help and treat the rest of the kids symptoms so again how is this hospital even an option whe the staff is only concerned about Being paid but aren't really doing their job to help people.

I guess I am not alone who got the same worst experience … in this hospital… unprofessional rude… long wait time except I told them that I do not have insurance… in a matter of second they got all my info … and then 4 hours later doctor show up at my waiting chair talked to me for 3 min … and boom 3 weeks later 2500$ bill for just talking….

Waits are way too long. They don't separate true emergencies from emergencies that could wait. They are rude and careless. This place should be visited as a last resort.
