Il Davide

We were looking for a place to eat and had our dog. We found Il Davide and gave them a call. Matt hooked us up with an outside table so we could take our dog. When we arrived we were greeted by outdoor lounge singing and a lovely atmosphere. Matt greeted us, and our dog, and then set us up with a table outside.

The service was responsive and the food was very good. They accommodated small changes, such as chicken instead of veal for the piccata.

David Catered our wedding and did an Amazing job! So many people complimented the food and said it was one of the favorite parts of our wedding. David takes a lot of pride in his work and really puts in the effort to keep everyone happy and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Would highly recommend both the restaurant and their catering service!

Wow. My new favorite restaurant. I moved to the area three years ago, and how have I been sleeping on this place? They have everything dialed in: great service, fun atmosphere, and the most crave-able cuisine. Two weeks later, I'm still thinking about my chicken parmesan with the sneaky kick, and my boyfriend's tender, perfectly seasoned filet. They do the classics, but find ways to surprise you. Whatever you do, do not skip dessert. The coconut citrus pie, I want to say, is something between a key lime pie and Basque cheesecake, and it is one of the best desserts that I have ever tasted. Also, this might not be the first place you'd think to go for a perfect margarita, but the bartender can make you one. Shout out to our waiter, Brian, who was attentive, funny, and made us feel right at home.

Magnifique! Every dish I tried here was fantastic. Had the scampi bruschetta, calamari fritti, parpadelle con salsicca, halibut special, sorbetti (blackberry and vanilla), and their seasonal bread pudding for dessert.
I will definitely be back! Such a great find in San Rafael!

Magnifico! Stupendous! Incredible! This place is impeccable. The quality, ingredients, the artistry and flavor of skilled craftsmen making a memorable meal. The only problem is everything is so amazing deciding is so difficult. If you live in San Rafael this is your new favorite restaurant. If you do not live in San Rafael it is worth the drive. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🚀🙏

Great food, grwat atmosphere, great experience. The Place was hopping on a Tuesday evening. I had ordered the Cioppino and not many can make it good. This one was excellent!! Will go back again.

The service was amazing! They were very busy and very nice. The prices were not that bad! Our server was very very nice and gave us complimentary Calamari because of a previous mistake. The food was great and so was the dessert! I ordered the Cacio E Pepé and for dessert was the Peanut Butter Gelato with a Gavottes Fan Wafer! Thanks for a great experience :) Would most definitely come back again!

Tuscan cuisine was on my mind, so after I secured the tuna gear I needed from the Western Angler, I went over to my old pal Lickiddy Shaftmore's because I owned him dinner.
II Davide Restaurant is the best Restaurant for Italian food in Marin county...according to the Lick, so we went there. All I can say is WOW!
The food was amazing as well as the service 5 stars all the way. ☆☆☆☆☆

We’ve been to Il Davide several times and even used them for our wedding. Quoted by some of our friends as the best wedding food they’ve ever had. The Truffle Ravioli in particular was a huge hit. Sitting on the outdoor patio on a cool Marin summer night is perfect. Highly recommend Il Davide.

The food was amazing! I went primarily for the short rib small plate (brasatto), it was to die for! I could have eaten 12 of them they were so good. We also ordered the bruschetta which was good, the chicken ravioli (affumicato), and the Brussels sprouts followed by two amazing desserts. The service was amazing, the atmosphere was amazing. I will definitely be back!!

Solid as a rock San Rafael mainstay. Been here for what seems like forever, and for good reason. They treat their locals well, they don't try to get ALL OF YOUR $$ in one visit! And they are professional. Food is great, drinks are as well. Bar dining available, as is outdoor seating. Long and the short of it... 5 Stars because they care.

Such friendly service and delicious food. The braised short ribs were amazing as was their new brownie afogato dessert!

This place has superb food and service! What a gem in the heart of San Rafael. Based on all the reviews, I ordered the two kinds of ravioli and it did not disappoint. And my partner ordered spaghetti and meatballs (even tho it wasn’t on the menu, they still made it), and it was delicious as well. We were with a large group so we also ordered a bunch of small plates and salads, like the calamari, the bacon wrapped prawns over polenta and the insalata amaro. Everything was on point. The servers were so helpful and attentive. I look forward to coming back here whenever I’m back in the area.

Il Davide is a favorite any time visiting the West Coast and going through San Rafael. It truly is one of our favorite Italian restaurants for lunch or dinner. So many of the dishes are delicious it is hard to pick just one or two to review. Just go and find out for yourself !!

I had perhaps the most perfect salmon salad of all time here! Their outdoor seating and atmosphere made for a wonderful lunch with a client.

We had the miso sea bass, scallops, calamari and polenta and everything was cooked to perfection. Hat's off to the chef. Our waitress was personable and efficient, timing everything just right. We never had to ask for more tea or water and the seating was reasonably spacious and comfortable. It was a perfect meal we are hoping to repeat soon.

Excellent food and service! We’ll definitely be back! We had the arancini, orecchiette and seafood fettuccine - all were delicious! The fettuccine has really generous amounts of seafood in it

Had an absolutely phenomenal dinner and received great service from Daniel! Would definitely return here if visiting the Marin area again.
