Nice place! The sea bass is a must try! Other dishes are nice and well-presented but a bit salty to my taste. But our friends really enjoyed everything here. Great for kids as well! Checkout the cute pizza they made for our kids!

Before I start, hands down the BEST ESPRESSO MARTINI I have ever had. Everything comes straight from Italy and with this place you can see it and feel it in the atmosphere, kitchen and staff. This all comes down to the food which is chefs kiss perfect! Also they got blankets on all their chairs which is amazing for girls who get cold easily. Can't recommend this place enough!

The real Italian home made restaurant! The waiters were very polite and recommended best dishes! We were sitting outside and there was heater and blankets, also clean and very atmospheric. Love this place definitely recommend! Also not very expensive!

I had a great first experience here. There’s indoor and outdoor seating on a bustling street in the heart of the Marina. Delicious food and beverages. I highly recommend stopping by.

Lovely spot in the Marina serving super authentic and yummy pasta with generous portions! Sometimes you just need a classic plate of carbonara or lasagna, and Roma Antica is the place to go for it. Our server was so sweet and gave great recommendations — my favorite dish of the night was without a doubt the porcini mushroom ravioli with black truffle sauce. One of the best ravioli dishes I’ve had in SF, with such a rich and umami mushroom flavors. The lasagna was also really meaty and the tomato flavor was really strong, which helped to cut through the richness of the dish. One small disappointment was the cacio e pepe, which lacked some flavor and could have been more peppery. Aside from that, the dessert was delicious, with the most amazing gelato texture. The cherry on top was the unlimited (and free) onion focaccia bread, which was so fluffy and delicious!

Truffle lover’s dream!

If you like black truffles you will love Roma Antica’s offering. The minute you walk into the restaurant you will be bombard with the lush deep aroma of black truffles! The calamari is fresh and flavorful with the perfect dipping sauce. The pasta is cooked to perfection and the veal is very well seasoned where it compliments the tenderness of the veal. This has become our go to spot for Italian food in SF. The customer service is exceptional and welcoming! You will not regret eating here!

Plenty of seating inside, plenty of seating on the sidewalk within the screened off area, with ample outdoor heating too, and what you think is going to be a regular Italian place.

And yet, it's not regular at all! The food is exquisite. I had calamari to start and some skirt steak, medium rare, to follow. The calamari outstanding. The steak, the best piece of skirt I've ever tasted.

The wines by the glass or bottle are seriously nice wines. The service was wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging.

This is a restaurant of the highest level, operating in that chilled out Californian way that suits this whole area around what is the wonderful Chestnut Street.

Just superb.

Located in the Marina District, San Francisco. Authentic Italian cuisine (pizza and pastas). For starters, I recommend their calamari fritti and crab cakes. They also provide fresh focaccia bread (complimentary). I recommend the Margherita pizza: serves 1-2 people, fresh mozzarella and tango sauce. Salsicca pizza: mozzarella, Italian sausage, mushrooms, olives, onions. Boscaiola: Rigatoni, mushroom, onions, Italian sausage, tomato sauce. By the way, use the Yelp check-in for a free Tiramisu!

Good Italian food made with the original recipes. The waiter was Italian too, efficient and very thoughtful paying attention to details all along the meal.
We could eat dinner outside thanks to the heaters and blankets that are provided.

We came as a couple to have lunch there, we have a dairy issue, and we were able to quite easily find dishes that met our needs, the waitress was very kind and helped us understand exactly what was right for us, the food was excellent, there are not many places in San Francisco that I was so satisfied with the food there and the experience in general.
I highly recommend going there for lunch or dinner

Go here at least once a month for a nice date. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Waiters are always nice, they recommend good wines.

They will split dishes for you to share no problem. The focaccia they serve when you arrive is always tasty. We often get the bruschetta parma and a couple main dishes to share.

Mushroom risotto, porcini ravioli, coda alla vaccinara, and pollo parmigiana are all yummy.

Favorite dish is absolutely the gnocchi with pink sauce. Do yourself a favor and try it.

My girlfriend and I recently discovered a gem in San Francisco’s vibrant culinary scene, Roma Antica, located at the charming intersection of Chestnut and Scott Streets. This spontaneous visit turned into an unforgettable journey through authentic Italian flavors.

The ambiance of Roma Antica is captivating, with staff conversing in fluent Italian, creating an atmosphere that transports you straight to Italy. This immersive experience is complemented by their attentive and knowledgeable service, making every guest feel valued and well-cared for.

Our culinary adventure began with succulent meatballs, infused with the fresh aroma of basil and nestled in a rich, harmonious tomato sauce – a testament to the chef’s mastery in balancing flavors. The bruschetta was light, fresh, and crunchy, topped with the freshest tomatoes you’ve ever had. The pasta dishes were a revelation; my carbonara, with mezze maniche and smoked guanciale, was bathed in a luxuriously creamy yolk sauce, its al dente perfection reminding us what true pasta should be. My girlfriend’s choice, the amatriciana, was a delightful interplay of smoky, mildly spicy tomato sauce with onion and guanciale, offering a tantalizing twist to every bite.

A 2016 blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet, thoughtfully suggested by our waiter, paired exquisitely with our meal, elevating the flavors to new heights. The bustling energy of the restaurant, underscored by the lively Italian chatter of the staff, added a unique vibrancy to our dining experience.

The grand finale was a slice of heavenly pistachio cake, accompanied by a rich limoncello, a pairing that gracefully concluded our evening and was brought to us on the house by our waiter.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Roma Antica – from the chefs to the waitstaff, and the owners – for creating a dining experience that was not just a meal, but a celebration of Italian culinary excellence. Their passion for food and hospitality shines brightly, making Roma Antica a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic Italian experience in the heart of San Francisco.

This is a great Italian restaurant! I've been a few times, and I can say it's one of those places you can order anything on the menu and it'll be good!

Absolutely loved the food, vibe and experience at this cosy authentic restaurant! We were very happy with the dishes we ordered: eggplant croquettes, porcini ravioli and margherita pizza. Service was excellent and the waitstaff were so lovely. Highly recommended!!

Truly a gem Italian restaurant. Ate outside, so a bit chilly, and they even had a blanket on the chair. Waiter was very authentic and responsive. Ordered 2 pizza and spinach side. All were beyond delicious and prepared just like they do it in Italy. Want to try more dishes.

Visited SF for a mini vacation with my boyfriend & we ate here as our last dinner in the city. We absolutely LOVED it here & will definitely be returning if we visit SF again. The Italian good was the best I've ever had & keep thinking about the gnocchi I had for dinner plus the limoncello spritz.
I will say the service can be hit or miss for you depending on quickly you can be impatient. We did come on a Friday night & the location seems to be POPPING as weekend dinnet spot because all the next door resturants were packed (& these are small buildings). My boyfriend & I quickly got seated however luckily to an open spot at the bar. This was extremely fun overall because our bartender was exceptionally entertaining to watch. He was very interactive & vocal with us & it was hilarious. When we finished our meal he gave us a bonus shot & had some hurrah. But because it was a Friday night, servers seemed to be a little scattered & overwhelmed. They did manage to play it off by being extremely friendly & entertaining.

Really good Italian food with very kind and fast service. On the weekends it's normally very busy. It is on the pricey side but totally worth it. We went there twice during our holiday, definitely recomendable.

Great Italian food, fun (old tv shows are played via a projector on brick wall behind bar) atmosphere and excellent service. Some people don't like dining so close to another party but we didnt mind and ended up sharing the restaurant's amazing olive oil with the other party dining next to us bc they didn't get their own bottle. Highly recommend this place, can't wait to go back.
*Update we went back just after Valentines day..the Salsiccia Pinsa and Diavola Pinsa pizza were still amazing, we will ask for extra crispy next time. The olive oil not as much and same with the oxtail pappardelle (sorry no pic ..different cook that night?)
And disappointed the old tv shows weren't being played nothing was being played.☹
We also had eggplant parmesan, coffee & tiramisu for dessert. Both were excellent! All in all we love this place.

Best Italian food I’ve had so far, especially in SF! Went for dinner with a group, we were seated quickly and the host was very nice. The staff is very enthusiastic and attentive. Food is moderately priced, especially for location and quality. Table bread was soft and pillowy, and the the actual meals were so delicious, perfect portions! Top spot for SF in my eyes :) Also the guy with the giant pepper shaker was hilarious 😭
