My heart will always call University AME ZION my home church, no matter where I live in this world. It is truly a place where love knows no boundaries, no borders, no divisions.

I am a Korean, my wife is Jewish and we were both welcomed from day one as part of a caring family. In fact, my wife and our son were baptized at this blessed place of worship.

I would thoroughly encourage anyone thinking about dropping by to take the leap - you won’t regret it.

I’ve bounced around from Church to Church in the last 10 to 20 years and have realized it’s a fantasy to ever expect to find the “perfect Church home”. However, ever since I’ve joined AME University Zion Church, I’ve never looked back. I was so warmly welcomed from day 1 and I’ve rarely attended a Church where Jesus’ command to “love one another” was more evident. I’ve even been invited to join the worship team and it’s been an amazing experience to be a part of. I still need to work on expanding my efforts to fellowship and service, but am excitedly looking for more opportunities as they come, Lord willing

I love University AME Zion church. I love Pastor Kaloma and his leadership of our congregation. The Holy Spirit is vibrant here, the musical worship is powerful, the community is loving, and the weekly sermons are both nourishing and relevant to my life. My two children love the kids ministry. My wife and I are so thankful to call University AME Zion our home.

I moved to San Jose in 2017 and didn’t know many people. I knew I wanted to find not just a church, but a church community. University exceeded my expectations. This church is indeed special. Pastor Kaloma and First Lady Larin have been called by God to create a space and community for believers in the area - and they not only answered the calling, but have also committed to doing it with such love, grace, and humility.

I moved back to the east coast last year, and this church is still MY church, and this is still my family.

University holds a special place in my heart and has been easily my BEST church experience from all aspects. We were on the search for a new church home as transplants to the Bay Area and quickly fell in love with UAMEZ. I never would have imagined finding a Black church in Palo Alto, let alone one that had existed for over 100 years.

Pastor Kaloma Smith and First Lady Larin Smith have continued to do an amazing job at creating a God centered, familial, local, progressive culture. Rarely can you find a church that embodies these elements with earnest intent, which allows members and visitors to have a rich experience. Another promising aspect of UAMEZ is it being a church of the community, promoting fellowship beyond the sanctuary walls and local civic engagement.

There’s something special about UAMEZ, from the people to the message. Please attend a service and see for yourself.

Our family was welcomed with open arms. Over the months, we have enjoyed the genuine community and fellowship. What a blessing to be able to call this church home!

I first visited UAMEZ when they hosted a community event and subsequently began attending Sunday services. I could not have felt more welcome and have drawn inspiration from the leadership and congregation.

Community. Community. Community. This church does it better than most. A welcoming group of people, exciting and frequent special events, worthwhile small groups, and a pastor who truly cares. If you're looking for a church community, look no further. The congregation is warm and inviting. The pastor sincerely preaches the word of God, and the choir fills the space with praise and worship.
