UnityPoint Health - Methodist West Hospital

Went to the ER at 4 am on a Saturday morning. They got me in a room quickly. Pneumonia and blood clots in each lung. I was admitted and very well taken care of by the Nurses, Doctors. EMT'S. I was in bad shape. They showed compassion and concern for me. They saved my life.

I recently had my first baby here and I cannot say enough how thankful I am for my care team on the 5th floor. I had a surprise induction, and the nurses were extremely thorough and made sure I was comfortable with each step of the process. My labor (as a first time mom) was a dream, and I truly believe it’s due to my care team. Nikki, Miranda, Kristina, Kayla, Christine, Rachel, and Gigi were all amazing, and have the biggest hearts. Kayla and Gigi helped me while I delivered, and they were so encouraging. I would highly recommend Methodist West as a place to deliver, and I definitely will be delivering here again in the future!

Have had 3 of my 7 kids here & was able to have my Midwives there with me as well doing things my way. Hospitalized after 2 of them for complications & got excellent care. Got excellent care after I lost my 6th one. Prefer to go here over anywhere else in Des Moines. Would highly recommend.

C-Section procedure went smooth without a hitch, and the medical staff are fantastic. I highly recommend their maternity ward.

I had major surgery here recently. Two procedures 2 days apart. It was a good experience considering. Everything from check in to check out went smoothly. I want to say thanks to all the nurses and aides who had a hand in my care. I was there for 4 days and I received excellant care from everyone. The nurses and aides are great. I wish I could name them all and thank them individually but my memory fails me.

If you get out with Dr T, you’ll be the most appreciative person to him. Such a great doctor. Came in even on his day off for my brother donation walk.
Seriously cared about my brother and our family during such a incredibly hard time.

My wife and I had our baby here, and it was an excellent experience! The whole staff was amazing and would highly recommend this hospital to anyone! Special shout-out to the 5th floor gals!

We delivered our first baby here, and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the maternity ward and all of the wonderful nurses. They were attentive, kind, helpful, and were there for anything we needed. The rooms were spacious and private, and very comfortable. The food was also great. I would recommend Methodist West for anyone who is looking for recommendations on where to deliver.

The medical staff here in ER/lab/radiology have amazing bed side manner(it matter)! They are excellent as well as thorough. The downtown surgery center is also amazing. I can’t speak past these areas. But I’ve been given excellent care and appropriate diagnoses

Best out-patient surgery! The check in process was so easy. The nurses and surgical staff are AMAZING! They were incredibly kind, comforting and had a great sense of humor which I appreciated! I have never had a better experience and this was my 5th surgery. THANK YOU!!!

I had knee replacement surgery here. I was kept very well informed as to what I could expect to happen next. Everything ran smoothly from check-in to pre-surgery to the OR (which I don't remember a lot) to post-surgery and finally to my room. This was the first time in my life I was admitted as a patient. I was very satisfied with my stay at Methodist West. My room was nice; the food was great; and most of all, the staff was very attentive and caring about my needs. Thanks to everyone at Methodist West.

Excellent and very thorough with care. All Dr.s and staffing outstanding! The nurses truly are the BEST! They work in such Unity.

Went in with severe pneumonia symptoms and they immediately got me in the ER and began treatment with a variety of nurses and doctors who all showed genuine care and got my symptoms very under control before leaving. Very quick service, all kind and respectful professionals. It was my first trip and would repeat if necessary.

My wife delivered here in 2016 and we just had our 3rd elsewhere. Our experience at this facility was THE BEST hands down. The OB staff were exceptional to include her provider who went out of his way to listen to her concerns and to reassure her and she is a L&D nurse so she was very particular! Great experience!

Had knee replacement surgery on October 1st, 2020. Care and staff was outstanding. Rooms were very nice. Almost Hotel type feel. Special shout out to Mimi, my nurse aide the first night. A very special, caring & compassionate young woman.

I had knee replacement surgery at Methodist West. The staff is excellent from registration, to the recovery room, to the nursing staff. I appreciated that therapy was done on the same floor as your room. Beautiful surroundings, good food, and I couldn’t have asked for a better hospital experience.

I was having a kidney stone attack. The pain was the worst i have ever experienced! They got me processed and to an er room very fast. Started me on pain medication, got a CT scan and diagnosis within 35 minutes. I was made comfortable and was home in about 4 hours. The PA and nursing staff were great! I hope to never see them again😊! Great job! By the was, passed the stone that night.

I'm about 37 weeks pregnant and have had the best experience with Unity Point OBGYN clinic in Waukee and Clive. Between their nurses and providers, to their friendly staff they are there to help in any way they can and it truly shows. It means so much to be becoming a first time mom and have the support of your health team! I just called Methodist West to do a labor and delivery tour and unfortunately they
aren't doing tours at this time because of the sickness going around. I thought it was great how they look out for the well being of the little ones. Kirsten Murray gave me this information and she was kind enough to email me a video of the tour. Talk about customer service at its finest! Thank you Methodist Hospital and Unity Point for hiring and training great individuals to help your patients!

I had to come to the ER, then admitted last year and now my wife is here (ER then admitted). This hospital is the best I've ever seen. The administrators obviously treat the employees very well. They are all happy to be at work and because of that, the patient care is extraordinary.

I don’t want to judge no one’s opinion but my experience with this hospital and recovery team was excellent. For someone who most of people name “Monk” (from tv show) I could not find any single error for my time being two and half days in hospital. Whole staff is very knowledgeable, patient and well organized. Volunteers are very nice and very helpful. Rooms are big, food excellent and whole environment just great.
