I had the Wagyu burger and my husband had the Bacon Jam burger! Best burgers we’ve ever had and our waiter Cody was so friendly and amazing! We’ll be back many more times.

The food was delicious. The atmosphere was great. HOWEVER, our server was EXCEPTIONAL. In most cases, wait staff will make or break an experience for fine dining. Charismatic, friendly, and helpful was what we got tonight. We don’t make it out to the Waukee area often but I’m so glad we did tonight! Thank you Lauren for a special night out.

I was not expecting the food to be as good as it was at this restaurant. We ordered a lot of appetizers and a couple of entrees as well just to try a bunch of different things. The mac and cheese was amazing. The poutine was unbelievable. The french fries tasted amazing by themselves, and then there were different dipping sauces - pesto and sriracha - which took it to another level. When we have friends and family come in from out of town to visit we will definitely be taking them to Gastro. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was also excellent. Any questions we had about any of the food items they explained very well. We were very pleasantly surprised and will definitely visit again.

We came in late on a Friday evening. We were seated right away as there weren’t a lot of people. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. The music was a little loud and a lot of the beer options were in cans, but it was a nice space.

The food was really good. The brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious. Tart with the bacon balsamic vinaigrette, but balanced out with the saltiness of the pork pieces. We split the short rib grilled cheese and it was fantastic. The bread was crispy on the outside and the meat, onion and cheese melted in your mouth. The touch of arugula was a nice freshness. It was the first real fall evening, so we got the roasted squash soup as our side. Yum. Creamy and delicious. The cornbread croutons added such a nice spice and the pepitas a nice little crunch.

We don’t get out to Waukee much, but I would come again if I was in the area.

This is a great place for excellent food and some great beer options. Very unique for the greater Des Moines area to have over 80 beers from across the nation available in cans or bottles! So fun to sample these unique bees that you couldn't.othetwise find in Iowa! My wife and I ordered a Cobb salad and side of brussel sprouts and couldn't eat it all! Don't miss it!

Went here for a late dinner. My mom and I were sat very quickly and our server was super friendly and helpful! My mom had the Steak De Burgo Poutine which she very much enjoyed. And I had a delicious impossible burger with their house garlic aloe.

Our first visit to Gastro Grub & Pub was excellent, admittedly though it was at 1 p.m. in the afternoon on a Tuesday so it was slow and we had exceptionally good service at the bar. The beer, cocktails and food were all delightful. The steak deburgo version of Canadian poutine fries was heavenly. We tried a few craft beers which were very nice but the New Fashioned and spicy cocktails were absolutely delicious and the highlight of our visit. We will definitely be visiting here again.

Great variety of beers. Cannot recommend the wings enough! Bread pudding is an excellent finisher to any meal. I love this place

Absolutely amazing. Best food in Waukee I'd even say even Des Moines. Had a wague burger with their truffle fries and they were. By far. The best. THE BEST IVE every had. Most certainly will always come back here. Staff was amazing and helpful and quick. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. If you live in the area or are passing through you must stop by. Great selection of beers as well.

A freind invited us here to try thier vegan Chicken sandwich, but I guess it is so popular it was sold out!

Anyway, the food we did order was very good. Service was prompt and well balanced, without to much or too little intrusion.

If I am out that way again, I will try it again for sure. Defitnaly worth a visit.

Eat local!

High end sports bar with a great drink selection. The Lost Hills Farm Wagyu Burger is hands down the best burger in the DSM Metro. Don’t come here if you expect cheap food. You truly get what you pay for.

Very much enjoyed the atmosphere & vibe here when you first walk in! Drinks were colorful & amazing! Love the food! Definitely high quality food & dinning experience right in the city! Unique & excellent!

This is the best place to eat in Iowa.
I’ve dined from coast to coast and around the world and this is the only place in the Midwest I would recommend. It’s quality is unmatched. It’s staff are friendly, real people who create an air of welcome and warmth that is deeply appreciated by this happy guest. To not mention the quality of the creations on the menu would be a crime. Their food is hand crafted on a plate joy to be savored by anyone who enjoys real food made right. Thank you to this glorious establishment and it’s staff!

Great atmosphere, food is the best I've had in waukee. My bartender Christopher was best and most knowledgable bartender I've ever had. Gives great service as well.

Awesome restaurant! The drinks are amazing, the bartenders even whipped up a drink that wasn’t on the menu. The wagyu burger was incredible.

Nice place for good food.. their grub burger is an all time fav, bread pudding is amazing, definite must try are the wings (Try the XXX sauce on the side), and bbq chicken wanton, PoBoy was true Louisiana style, steak pita, everything we tried was good.

Definitely must try.

Had the fried brussel sprouts and they were phenomenal. Drinks were very good also. I had the Spicy Satsuma and wife had a New Fashioned and they were both very good. Service was excellent!

Love the Happy Hour selection and great styles of food for everyone! Local beers on tap, pretty outdoor seating in the summertime.

Tonight was my first time dining at this absolutely wonderful place. What a fantastic experience!!! Beet salad with grilled chicken was delicious!!!!!Probably one of the best dishes I had for the past year! Our servant Chris provided us with amazing service. He was quick, informative and very attentive. I was so impressed and beyond happy that chef himself found time to stop by our table, so I could express my appreciation of deliciousness of the food he prepared! Hands down, great restaurant! Would definitely recommend !!!!!!
