I saw Dr Harlan and he was great! He along with his assistant, Andrea, they made my visit actually enjoyable. From Dr Harlan’s knowledge and Andreas bed side manner, they make a great team! Would recommend! Also it didn’t take me that long to get in.

He removed cancer from my hand and it has not returned. Great job from a great guy. The entire staff was wonderful. Dr. Harlan was very personable and confident. I have since referred my children to him with similar positive experiences.

It was an interesting experience. Nothing negative but it felt rushed. I don’t think he really took the time to get to know me or my concerns. Maybe it was a busy day and he had appointments booked back to back. The clinic also functions as like a half spa so I imagine some of those treatments take up his time too. I had envisioned my first experience with a dermatologist to be different in my head including them looking at my entire problem areas. From the pre forms I thought pictures would be taken or something to show current areas with moles or acne. You spend more time with other staff than the actual doctor who came into the room for about 15 minutes, wrote a script quickly and then it was over. I already had a current prescriptions for one of the creams so I could of saved myself some money and time by not even going. The other ones are new to me so I’ll give them a try however if they’re anything like the regular over the counter meds with a similar name that have failed me for years ( which I did disclose to him that this type of medicine didn’t work ) they probably won’t work. I’m going to give the stuff he wrote a script for a try then decide if I’ll go to my follow up with him. I probably won’t, I need someone who will spend the time explaining things and I want to feel like I was heard. I like to really connect with my providers and his bedside manners didn’t impress me. I’ll look for a different doctor closer to where I live in Des Moines. His facilities are newer though and he does offer the availability to book online which is really convenient. If you’re the type who’s looking for a quick script or option it will probably be great for you.

If you are the type that would prefer to avoid antibiotics and try some alternatives first this is not a physician for you. He isn't aware of alternatives. He is, as most physicians going to push pharmaceutical use because that is his livelihood.
I work in the medical field and this is a typical doctor scenario.
*15 minutes late for a 0745 appointment (what I would assume would be his first appointment of the day)
*I am seen for 5 minutes, given a different antibiotic script, and told to follow up in 2 months whether I see improvement or not. Also never asked what medications I currently take that may affect this new antibiotic.
Probably not the worst doctor but I'm not pleased.
