Definitely worth a try ✅ if you’ve never had one and true-to-memory if you’re a wheelcake fan.

Wheelcakes (車輪餅) are a dessert made from a fluffy pancake-like batter, cooked in cast iron pans, with a creamy filling inside. 🤩

💵Price: £10 for 4 which I’d recommend so you can sample the different custard flavours!

☑ They’re made freshly, on-site, so the custard filling is hot when you get them.
⏰ Waiting time: Being freshly-made does mean that you may have to wait around 10min for your order depending how busy they are—but it’s well worth it and there’s so much to see at Old Spitalfields Market while you wait.
You’ll get a ticket number 🎫 so you can come back and collect your order.

Menu: The wheelcakes come in a variety of flavours. Vanilla custard is the golden standard 🤤 but I also tried: the 🍵 matcha, azuki 🫘 bean and chocolate 🍫 (my favourites are in that order too but it’s definitely down to personal flavour preference).

Wheelcakes are each marked with a symbol 👀 so you know which one you’re eating (image added for reference).

Absolutely fell in love with this place!

Concept is cool, unique and you feel like you get exposed to such a great peculiar treat. This company focuses on the cakes and they do it well!

I tried the vanilla custard and the limited edition rose cake. Vanilla was okay but the rose was absolutely amazing!

Cakes are not too sweet but ideal if you want to maybe try something new to the usual western pastel de natas or similar.

Very friendly service and swift actioning. Worth a try!

The wheelcake with chocolate and vanilla custard flavour was very good and something that’s worth trying second time. The one with matcha did was not up to my taste and the other two kinds were gone closer to 6pm on a Saturday so I did not have a chance to try them

A very interesting, delicious dessert! Satisfied my sweet tooth without being too sugary. Crispy outside and a warm, doughy inside with subtle matcha cream. A wonderful treat.

Yum wheel cakes!! We got the matcha, custard and adzuki as well as a rose milk tea. The matcha has to be my favourite!! So creamy

It was super delicious! Divine! The fillings are generous and be careful while eating as it is easy to become messy when you bite. I didn’t go to their own shop but I went to the Chinese food festival for it as they had a stall there.

Had my first wheelcake today and it was amazing! Freshly made and was so warm and tasty. Really reasonable price and portion and the ladies were friendly and welcoming. I look forward to having this again!

I always get a wheelcake when Im near Spitalfields!The fillings are so tasty and warm and the waffle complements the flavours. Great value and would highly recommend the custard flavour!

Even though the Pumpkin and custard cake is on special it is my absolute favourite. The cakes are good when fresh an warm but even better when completly cooled. You get three for seven bucks but they are worth every penny.

Yummy wheelcake!! I ordered their 3 for £7. Red bean filled, matcha and vanilla. All three were delicious!! 👍🏻 i just hope i had not forgotten to take a photo individually 😞 Will definitely be back for more

The Taiwanese wheelcale is authentically tasty, the filling is creaming but no to sweet, and it’s baked crispy outside, everything is on point compared to the ones I had in Taiwan or even much better! £7 for 3 wheelcakes!

Had the matcha wheelcake. It was not very sweet which is something I liked. Dough was very good. Enjoyed it with a chai (Chai guys are next to it). Fast service.

Soft, fluffy and tasty! Chocolate has to be my favourite with custard coming in a close second. Red bean is just not for me personally.

Amazing hot cakes from Taiwan. Perfect balance in flavor. Filling are so delicious. And extremely friendly personal. Too good we forgot to take a photo before eatting them.

Love Wheelcake Island! Chocolate flavour is actually the perfect mix of custard and melted milk chocolate - absolutely delightful! Their Thai milk tea is also delicious and I love watching them make the wheelcakes right in front of you. An easy 5 stars!

Love these and are a must buy whenever in the area the vanilla and chocolate filling are my favourites! £7 for 3 - cant go wrong. Highly recommend. Soft, fluffy and not too sweet,the perfect treat.
