New store, clean, fully stocked with groceries, frozen foods, home goods, personal care, and so much more. Skip the hassle of the drive across town to the big stores, everything you need is right here. Pleasant, very helpful staff, plentiful parking, well lighted parking lot, and convenient hours.

I love the Dollar general store on Gainesboro grade. The employees are extremely nice and friendly. I go in there just about every day if not every other day and so I have gotten to know the employees well and they are wonderful. #5stars

This store has very polite employees, my favorite to stop by. Finding items is easy, as it's well organized. Also, it's much cleaner than other stores.

These stores are great. Prices are hecka low for sure. In and out, just like a convenience store but at half the cost. If there were any improvement to make, it would be to put some higher quality offerings in, you know, just here and there. Right now there's just the one option, cheap. I'm not going to hold it against them. After all, we're in Cookeville. There was definitely a retail niche there, that needed to be filled. They have done an outstanding job. The staff is helpful when called upon, cheerful and upbeat near to the point of outright vitality. For what it's worth I would highly recommend you stop and shop at the "DG", especially when time is of the essence and you don't want to be the latest retail victim at your local convenience store. You can skip the gas station on your way home, and within minutes you'll be upon a Dollar General ( they're everywhere). Your total won't be far from the one you might have had, had you schlepped a good 3/4 of a mile, 30 minutes later, through the Big Box store even further down the road. So there you go, you've saved money, but most of all, you saved precious time that you can give to your family or at the very least, get to bingeing all the sooner on your latest Netflix "binge worthy" experience, all the while you feel that deep satisfaction of money well spent, is money also well saved. Then the best part comes... "What's this?"
you'll ask. Well, that's the warm fuzzy sensation of wisdom settling on you, but it quickly, yet subtly turns into an epiphany that bursts right in the center of your being. Over the next year, you plan your shopping right, bypass the convenience store and stay clear from Big Box Stores apart from necessity, you have given yourself back time and money that you can hardly quantify. Joy to You Everyday.
