It's a pretty good hardware store for a shopping plaza next to a book shop. It sure beats having to drive out to a big box hardware store. And everybody in the store knows what they're talking about. Shout-out to the paint guy who saved my marriage this Feb.

I love this hardware store, not only are the employees extremely nice, but they also have a wide variety of items and offer an accessible shopping experience. It’s fun, for me, to just walk through sometimes, you might find something you didn’t know you needed!

Great selection of all kinds of things. And the only place I can find Bon Ami ... anywhere!

I love this store!! Great selection of housewares, indoor & outdoor decorations, tools, paint, gardening supplies cleaning supplies, organization supplies, candles, soda stream, you can have keys made.... a little of everything really! The staff are helpful and nice. I own a house cleaning business and I love their selection of cleaning supplies; they have a great selection of stuff from Method, Mrs Meyers, Bona, Swiffer, etc (cleaning products as well as cleaning tools like mops, dusters, scrub brushes, etc).

The workers there are polite and respectful and knowledgeable about what's on the floor

I have been coming here for years. snow/shovel needs. house needs. Very well stocked. Love the choice of tableware, shower curtains, pots, pans baking goods. They have a very good buyer. The staff is always nice.

Every time I go there the staff are so friendly and helpful! I usually come in with one idea and based on my staff conversations they are able to recommend an even better idea to my problem. Thank you!

Great local hardware store with thoughtful selection and super helpful staff. Have been going to them for years. When we were trying to match a paint color in our house, the staff were terrific and went above and beyond mixing and remixing until the color matched perfectly.

Tags lives up to the slogan "Ace | The Helpful Place". The folks in the paint department were very helpful in providing high quality Benjamin Moore paints and advice on re-painting a Cambridge area apartment quickly and affordably when the exact swatches couldn't be found. You also can't beat the location, layout, and number of staff available to help. I wish some of the tools weren't locked. But there is a fair amount of retail theft in Porter Square, so that can be forgiven. The store also carries a number of kitchen housewares that would appeal to people in the area. Skip Home Depot and give Tags a try if you're within two miles of Porter Square. The parking area needs improvement, but it's free and off-street, which is rare in Cambridge.

This is a great local hardware send housewares store. In addition to a great hardware section, the housewares and furnishings are very much targeted at the transient move-in move-out people with pretty much everything to complete furnishing an apartment. They have a big cleaning section section too. Try here before you go a big box stores, slightly more extensive but it will save you a lot of time

No better spot in the area when you’re working on a project. Great selection of materials at solid prices - super helpful staff. Mike in particular is a rockstar - multiple times I’ve stopped in with a loose idea for a DIY project and he’s helped me plan it out and find the right equipment. Obviously smaller selection than a big store like HD but way better experience.

Tags can be a bit hit or miss with customer service but there are many people here who are friendly and knowledgable. Highly recommend going here due to the amazing product selection. Also, the guy who works on the 1st floor in the kitchen goods section is amazingly helpful and can answer any question you have. That being said stay away from the area where the keys are cut. For some reason the people who work in that area are less than helpful.

A higher end ACE store. Great variety of household items, a mix of all for kitchen, bathroom, dining area, make key copies, & more. Quality gift items..Free Porter Square parking or T & bus access.

Always clean. Staff is always checking in to see if you need help. I bought a vacuum from them a few years back needed a new filter which they didn’t have but were happy to order some for me. Glad the new owners did not change the friendly family feel

Saved my bacon. Was an exhibitor at Lunder Arts Center and we needed to construct a banner set-up in a hurry, I decided to make it out of some plumber's PVC and the team custom cut all my pieces to length with no complaint. Super helpful, a real deal hardware store where you can get service not one of those useless box stores :-P

I live in Porter but always drove to Target for home goods. Believe me when I say the selection at Tags blows them away. I find the items to be of better quality. You may pay a bit more but I feel that it is for things that you actually want and will enjoy instead of whatever is cheapest or available. I enjoy talking to knowledgeable sales people and have always had the friendliest of service

This is one of the best stores around, family owned, well managed and a pleasure to visit. Staff are assigned to float the store to help customers. (Whoever panned the hardware section was cranky that day.) I've always had knowledgeable help, unlike in any medium to megastore chain I have visited. Tags staff seem cheerful working at Taps. Here's to locally owned, well managed staff!

I've been coming to this Tags for years. They have always had everything I need to complete whatever project I am working on. Not to mention, they have an excellent selection of kitchen accessories! The staff are always helpful.

Barry at the service counter is charming and a very cool guy, will definitely be back for all of my home goods needs, the customer service here is excellent.
